I don't know if this will be of any help, but I have Windows 10 machine that did the same thing for about 6 months. I read some place about that happening if you have an external HD attached. I had a Toshiba USB HD plugged in. I unplugged it and it has been updating ever since. The computer is an ACER. It did update with the early versions without any problem.

I drove a 1962 Ford to college that had a 390 High Performance engine with dual point ignition, high rise aluminum intake manifold, heavy factory special headers, Holley four barrel with manual secondaries and a high lift cam. It was a 375 HP engine with a Q designation.

I never got under 13 mpg and I could get around 17 mpg if I drove somewhat human. This was in trips across ND from Medora to Fargo, about 340 miles. It was on the interstate at 75+++ MPH.

I bought the car used with 120,000 on it and drove it another 60,000 or 70,000 miles. I wish I still had it.

We had 8" of snow yesterday morning and then it was -11º last night. I guess winter is here for a while, although it is suppose to be in the mid 40s by the end of the week. I hope you all have a great week.

Thank you both for the comments. We have slow DSL (7mbps)from the same supplier that provided the cable. They are the only choice in town. We even have to maintain a land line in order to get the internet.

I am only streaming Netflix which works okay most of the time.

I had DTV 20+ years ago but dropped it about 15 years ago due to cost in favor of the local cable.

I was thinking of using the Firestik because of ease of installation. Doesn't the ROKU make you set up an account with them in order to use? Otherwise, I have no personal preference. I don't think I want to get into AppleTv even though I use an iPhone.

Morning to all of you.
It is about 30º here in western ND.
I've got all of my cars put away for the winter and have to concentrate on the important things like TV. I was just informed that my old Sony TV live streamer that I use for Netflix will quit working as of Dec 1st.

I know that TeeBee has done lots of replacement for people that lost cable. I am wonder which would be the better choice for me, the Roku Premiere + with 4k or the FireTVstik 4k? I would appreciate it very much if you could chime in and give me some direction.

By the way, we recently lost our cable and I am on Direct TV. My smart Samsung TV will stream fine, but this is for a not so smart TV in my bedroom. It is a Westinghouse HiDef TV.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Don

It's a little chilly here in ND also. It was -28º here this morning. It has warmed up. It is only -15º now. Have a great day.

Nice day here also, about 85º.

I just finished putting a new radiator in my 94 Blue Toy. It was leaking along a seam and seemed very soft in that area.

I put in a 3 core all aluminum. It fit fine except I had to widen the top rubber brackets that hold the two radiators in place and apart. The side tanks were a bit wider on the new one.

It sat and idled at 197º. I took it out and ran it and it read 194º at speed. I then drove around town at low speed and it never went over 200º.

I am very happy with the results and the radiator only cost $133 shipped.

I'm not positive on the official meaning.
I think it is: Lucky Strikes Mean Fine Tobacco.

The normal meaning in my neck of the woods was:
Loose Straps Mean Floppy Tits.

I get mine from a local agent with the Safeco Insurance.

By the way, there must be more than 2000 vehicles in the state, cause I can account for 10 of them. Not so great when all of the insurance and license comes due.

Somethings are better up here in old ND. I just renewed both my insurance and license on my 2005. The full coverage insurance was $438 for the year.($1000 deductible on collision and $250 on comp). However, the license was $49 for the year. Our license is based on weight. It is the cheapest of all of my vehicles. Even my 94 Vette is $57.

Sorry about Sofie. I lost my Brittany almost 2 years ago and I still miss him every day. My favorite words are the following:

He has promised to wait for me...
whenever ... wherever - in case I need him.
And I expect I will - as I always have.
He is just my dog.

I haven't had a mincemeat pie in years. My Mom used to make them every so often from homemade mincemeat made from venison. She would make the mincemeat and can it. We would have them all year long. It was one of my Dad's favorites. Thanks for the memory.

They are easy to make. I remove the bark with a drawknife. Then I carve out the diamonds with a carving knife and a dremel tool with a round burr. Then I sand down the general outside with a oscillating spindle sander. Then I smooth up the rest of the drawknife marks and the diamonds with 150 and 220 grit sandpaper. Finally I apply 4 coats of clear gloss Varathane.

Good morning. It's 27º here this morning and it is suppose to get to about 40º this afternoon. It was 41º yesterday. We are having a January thaw and I feel so bad for the poor snow flakes in the east.

I've been keeping busy lately making Diamond willow canes and walking sticks. It has been a lot of fun out working in my wood shop. It's heated, so I am not freezing. I have been getting my Diamond willow stock from a supplier in Norfolk, NB. He has been good guy to deal with. There is suppose to be some here in ND, but not around here. It is way too dry.

Nice and brisk here this morning. It is -33º, but no wind. We do have about 6 inches of light snow. It is suppose to be 0º tomorrow and a high of mid 20s later in the week. Almost convertible weather.

I hope you folks in the lower states survive the cold weather. It was -17º this morning. It is suppose to be -30º the next 2 mornings. We like the cold weather as it's suppose to keep out the riff raft.

My luck isn't all good. I got called for jury duty next week for 3 days. There is a chance it will be cancelled. I hope so. It just so happens I have a Derm appointment one of those days that has been scheduled for 6 months. I would hate to have to cancel.

I hope everyone has a happy and prosperous New Year.

Merry Christmas to all of the gurus and their families. I am celebrating with friends as I have no family close. It is great to have friends who take care of an old coger.

The weather has been great this fall and I had the red convertible out for a drive last Sunday (the top was up). It has finally decided to get cold here. It is about 9º as I type this. It has been falling all day and it is suppose to be -20º by morning. We do have a couple inches of snow so it will be a white Christmas.

Best of wishes for the New Year for you all.

Happy Thanksgiving to you all and may you have a blessed day with family. I am going to some good friends for dinner and I am driving the Vette. It is suppose to get up to about 70º this afternoon. It's almost 60º here now. How's that for a North Dakota winter?

Morning all and happy Fourth of July. It is great to live in this nation and greater still since last November. I was in a parade and a small car show last Sunday in a neighboring town. I went there with buddy who is a body man. He drove his recently restored 1967 Olds 442 that he did him self. I drove my Red Devil.

It has been hot the past week and in the upper 90s this week. It is supposed to be 101º on Monday and hot all next week. It has been very dry and doesn't look good for the farmers and ranchers. There is very little hay this year.

Have a happy and safe day.

It's 55º here today and raining a bit. I had the Red Devil out in the rain (with the top down for a bit) and it didn't melt. Of course I had to go home and wipe it all down.

There was a little excitement over the weekend. A local boy whose parents and other family I taught, signed an undrafted free agent contract with the Bengals. He was a RT with NDSU the past 4 years. He is 6'7" and 310 pounds. He is a good boy and I hope he does well.

Thank you all for the nice comments. It really seems to run nice down the road. I got 27.8 mpg at 77 mph on the interstate coming home. At least by the car counter. It has Borla exhaust, new Goodyear Eagle F1 EMT run flat tires with Corvette Z06 wheels. It has navigation and heads up display and a 6-speed manual. Fun to play with and lots of other goodies for me to learn about. I did have to have my local mechanic friend replace the oil pressure switch. The analog was pegged at 80 pounds and the digital read 129. I looked in the other Forum and they said this was a common problem with the C6. Now the pressure reads 56 pounds at 2000 rpms, 46 at 1000 rpms and 38 at idle. So it looks to be okay.

I think I win the morning cold report. It was -22º and the wind chill was -45º. It is a dubious honor. However, it has warmed up to -18º and the sun is shining with two large sundogs on either side. I got out for breakfast and BS with the other locals who don't have anything to do either.

Stay warm. It's suppose to get up into the 20s and low 30s all next week.

It's cold here, 0º. It might get to 4º today. The wind is blowing all across the state with I94 closed border to border and then some. It's kind of like winter. The western part where I live has not had the snow like the central part and the east, though the wind was over 40mph yesterday and last night. Today it is a gentle breeze of 25mph. Stay warm my friends.

Sorry for your loss, Steve. Just remember all the great times.
It was cold the past couple of mornings, 16º and 14º. Better this morning at 19º.

I am very sorry for your loss. I lost my beloved Brittany last May and still think of him and look for him every day. But most of all I remember his great love and companionship and that will be with me always as will your friends.

Happy Fourth of July to everyone. The neighbor is BBQing brisket, salmon and other goodies and invited me over to partake. I guess that I will do just that.

Remember we are blessed to live in this great country and we must fight and serve to keep it that way. Blessings and thanks to all who have served and to those who gave it all.
