Soso chichipa!

Tom, it's balmier here in the Great White North - 8 degrees. A beautiful winter day - the freeways are OK, but a lot of the side streets have that lovely ice-rutted washboard quality, a shock-absorber salesman's dream. Highs for 4 out of the next 5 days are in the single digits. I may need to zip the sleeves back onto my golf pull-over.

Keep warm, Gurus!

5 degrees here on the great plains.....but not to worry it will get to 16 they are saying......good day to nurse a cold and stay in the warm office......or maybe just stay in bed....I got the new Car and Driver to read....

Its not cold out here until your spit freezes before it hits the ground. Today I need to find some firewood. Our regular guy has stopped selling wood so I need to find someone else....been putting it off so now the wife is telling me she would enjoy a nice warm fire to sit in front of in the evenings........so that is my motivation....better get with it...

Stay warm all North bound Guru's......

Good Morning, sorry about the cold temps guys. I woke up to 59 degrees here in Northeast Ohio. Of course we are looking to get 3 - 6" of snow tomorrow.

Hopefully I can make it through today and tomorrow, then it is a week of "vacation" which only means I won't be coming into work, plenty to do around the house. I also have 2 concerts next week. Wednesday is Art Garfunkel and Saturday is Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

I placed an order for 2 laptops yesterday. The Grandkids need them for schoolwork. I will get them configured and deliver them In January.

Ha, it's hot here at 18.

15-20 degrees below normal for the rest of the week. Normal is 48 isn't going to warm up until next Wednesday.

I'm keeping my body filler on the kitchen counter cause it's cold in the garage.

That's what happened here 2 days ago. 65 one day then 6 inches.

Trans-Siberian Orchestra rocks.

It's Florida. What can I say. The intolerable summer temps have fled. High's in the low 80's over the next several days and today I'm looking at clear, sunny skies. My shorts and t-shirt wardrobe should be good for some time to come. You never know when pants season might start or how long it will last. It can go for 1 week to 3 months.

I'm on the countdown to 10:30. My emotions are all over the place but prepared to do what must be done. No matter how mentally prepared you are, you're never mentally prepared enough. It's a mission. We have to get in there and get it done. Chat with you later.

Good morning gang.

It's in the mid 30's now and for the rest of the day.

Hope things go smoothly today.

Word of the Day Thursday, December 05, 2013
slumgullion \ sluhm-GUHL-yuhn, SLUHM-guhl- \, noun;

1.a stew of meat, vegetables, potatoes, etc.
2.a beverage made weak or thin, as watery tea, coffee, or the like.
3.the refuse from processing whale carcasses.
4.a reddish, muddy deposit in mining sluices.

Origin:

Slumgullion is an Americanism dating back to the 1840s. It is perhaps related to the word cullion , which comes from the Latin term meaning "bag" or "testicle."

Mojo for you today, Tommy - prayers that all goes smoothly and well.
Temps here dropped overnight and will continue through the day, winter storm rolling in tonight through tomorrow night. under 1" of ice expected and up to 3" of snow by Sunday. I'm ready to move. People here are freaking out - guessing they're scared we'll have another episode like in '09, power out for weeks for some. Worst in history. I'm thinking the 3Bs... bread, beer, baloney... actually, there's been FB pics uploaded from people at stores, nothing left on the shelves but tortillas - although they're restocked daily. People are insane here. Milk, eggs, bread for two days? REally? What you gonna do? sit home and eat French toast?

The tree ornaments ? Supposedly you can walk in to Home Depot and get them.

But you can't get the racks full of alcohol at Home D.

Man we are experiencing a heat wave, it's all the way up to 10*. But, with the wind blowing 20mph, it doesn't feel that warm. Kids are amazingly calm today. Must be the weather.

Happy noon hour,

It is still -8 here at noon. It was down to -17 early this morning. But it is a bright sun shiny day with very little wind, so not so bad. We are not suppose to see above zero until Sunday. We also had 7" of snow 2 days ago. I've got that all snow blowed away, but the Blue Toy stays in the garage. I did drive it last friday and saturday.

A couple of friends and I went out for a lutefisk dinner last night and came home stuffed and happy. No nasty comments about dead spoiled fish. I'm only half Norski, so I only ate half a ton.

I'm back home and it's just before 02:00 PM. The officers were about 15 minutes late and of course, I caught the heat. Sue called and found out that 10:30 means plus a 2 hour window. Meanwhile she's got 4 guys sitting in the truck on payroll. Thankfully they were only 15 minutes late. When the officers arrived I went to cut the lock on the gate. My son ran out saying "Wait a minute, I'll open it." The officers instructed us to stay outside and away. They told him what was going on. He said something to the effect of "I'm a little confused. I didn't think they would actually go through with it." He was instructed he has 24 hours to have all his stuff removed from the front of the house or we can have it disposed of. He took a bunch of stuff that included important papers, jewelry, valuables , etc. and went to the local U-Haul to rent a truck. He got a good sized truck and with planning, everything should fit. People were driving by eyeing his stuff. We were done and the locks were changed. I couldn't just leave his stuff unattended. There were too many vultures ready to pounce so I waited till he got back. He asked that I loan him the dolly and drop him off at the U-Haul. I asked a neighbor to watch his stuff for 15 minutes while he was gone. He's a little confused but for the life of me we can't understand why. Our intentions and actions have been relayed to him clearly. I even told him the day and time. Everything was sitting in his house like nothing was going to happen. Reality is setting in. He asked about our rental house on 292 St and we told him it had tennants. We asked if he would move there months ago. That we wanted to sell the house he was living in. He didn't want to move. So, now he's out. He's packing up the truck now. He doesn't know where he's going. He said he would figure everything out over the next few days. There is no doubt his view of reality is off. With no job and now homeless he's got a lot of figuring to do. He needs to come to grips with himself. The responding officer said "He will learn from this experience. He has no choice." No doubt he will be alright over the next couple of days. Beyond that who knows. He and his dog are now homeless because of some pie in the sky dreams he manifested. We have to move forward. The house will be cleaned up and sold. We are thinking of selling the other house too. I can't say that I'm happy about the way things turned out. I never wanted it this way. I've been talking with my son over the past year and he just doesn't get it. He says my ideas are outdated. They may be outdated but the methods are tried and true. If you work you make money. If you make money you can provide shelter and food for yourself. He is still living on his meager savings and some borrowed money after being jobless for almost a year. I'll be glad and I'm sure you all will be too when this rant of mine comes to a close. Soon this will all fade into the the abyss and new and more challenging issues are bound to come up. I'm kinda tired and in need of some rest. This stuff is draining me. But there are things that need to get done. Put away the hanky. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and get busy. There's a list God dammit.

Wow, Tommy.. so sad all that had to take place for him to understand. And what, pray tell views do you have that he feels are outdated? How is it outdated to work and provide for yourself? At his age he should not expect to be a child provided for at home. A lot of men his age are married with their own children already. Undue stress on you guys, prayers for you all.

I should have taken a picture of this, but this AM was so damn cold my truck wouldn't start. Big Dodge 2500 diesel that just refused to fire up and this sucker runs dual batteries. So, fire up the '89 and jump the truck - now that's something new. Guess I better get it into the shop as it's to cold out now and no relief in sight. Weatherman said don't look for anything above 30 degrees for the next week. How fun
