Good morning gang.

Chilly morning here temps in the low 40's. We should be sunny and highs in the 60's.

We got the camper all winterized on Saturday.
Not much else going on.

Happy Columbus Day. I still have to work.

Word of the Day Monday, October 14, 2013

solipsism\ SOL-ip-siz-uhm \, noun;

1. Philosophy. the theory that only the self exists, or can be proved to exist.

2. extreme preoccupation with and indulgence of one's feelings, desires, etc.; egoistic self-absorption.

Origin:

Solipsism entered English in the late 1800s from the Latin solus + ipse literally meaning "alone" + "self."

This is how America got it's name.

Walali!

Looks like a great week ahead, if you like 50's and rain. I'll have to go stock up on Sta-bil and oil change items, as it's time to put the Vette away later this week. We got most of the rest of our outdoor stuff packed away yesterday, too. I suppose I'll be prepping the snowblower soon as well. The party's over :-P

Keep warm, Gurus!

Chilly here, as well. I guess I will have to put all the patio furniture away for the season. Perhaps that will be my chore on my next days off.

Hope everyone has a great day!

LOL. A couple of years ago after partially recovering from the free fall of the stock market and because of my age, I moved all my shares of an S&P indexed fund to safety. It was when the Dow got back to 12,000 from the lows of less than 8,000. You see, I looked for indicators of a recovering economy and found few. Next thing you know, everything takes off like gangbusters. I'll never understand investment. The Bear and Bull markets defy logic. The good thing is I got a healthy return on my original investment. Had I stayed put I'd have doubled my original investment. Had I bailed at the low I would have broke even and possibly lost money. When I see where the markets are now, I'd like to have a little whine with my cheese. Be that as it may, I don't know how the hell it got there. I developed a very special skill before I started investing. I was able to pick a stock, watch it rise to impressive levels, then crash and burn before my very eyes. I was adept at picking long term losers. That's why later I let the S&P 500 companies run with my investment dollars. Averaging, for me, was the way to go. And I still screwed it up.

Back to weather. The clear cool morning skies were a welcome sign that October and the Fall weather are here. Thank you, thank you very much.

Morning....1.5 inches of rain so far today 49 degrees and a fair amount of yuk.....I refuse to give up on fall yet and am leaving everything in place on the deck and the GS ready to go.....I am optimistic......and positive that winter is not here yet......of course last time I said that....

Resized Image

Well we were supposed to start riding in combines this week and begin the early seed sales but the rain shut that down...so I will clean up the shop and office....gotta stay busy or I get nervous just sitting around.....I know that goes against the DNBFS way of life but I think I need more counseling.......maybe the Rev. can give me some advice...

Have a cheerful day Guru's.......

Your syndrome may be terminal.
Your "stay busy" is work oriented, when work is over for the day..........................
Yet, you still have to post a picture of your S & S place and deck chairs, get it?

Though here, deck chairs always generate more posts that anything Corvettes do.

Where do you spend more time, or at least wish you spent more time? Seat time or chair time? It's all relative.

I just realized something...

It just hit me! My dog sleeps about 20 hours a day.

He has his food prepared for him.

His meals are provided at no cost to him.

He visits the doctor once a year for his checkup and again during the year, if any medical needs arise.

For this he pays nothing, and nothing is required of him.

He lives in a nice neighborhood in a house that is much larger than he needs, but he is not required to do any upkeep.

If he makes a mess, someone else cleans it up.

He has his choice of luxurious places to sleep.

He receives these accommodations absolutely free.

He is living like a king and has absolutely no expenses whatsoever. All of his costs are picked up by others who earn a living.

I was just thinking about all this, and suddenly it hit me like a ton of bricks...

My dog is a CONGRESSMAN!!!!

80k? I think I'd go for a 2014 with lots of bells and whistles or 5 classics in the 10 to 20k range. You know I prefer more over new. Though what I have doesn't see enough road time as it is. Where do I go, downtown Homestead?

Hey guys, getting ready to go to the board meeting tonight for the discussion on whether or not I'm going to get to keep the new toy. Principal has a presentation and wants me there to add to it. I've got a sample all set up to run for them during their break. Can't see them not doing this.

Well guys, I'm back and my principal had a really good presentation. They asked me a few questions and voted 5-0 to purchase the router. At break time I invited them all to the shop to see the new purchase and I put on a demonstration for them running a file I developed over the weekend.

The board is made up of 4 former students and two others that I have personally worked for. Either them personally or through the businesses they work for. I really never thought that it wouldn't go through, but there is always a chance. The biggest part is the support from the administration.
