Everybody knows that you shouldn't stop on Donner Summit in the winter when it's snowing.
Here's why you shouldn't stop in the summer either:

Must be looking for a picnic basket! Reminds me, my late brother always made reservations under the name "Donner" so they'd holler for the Donner party when his table was ready.

Bearly

First he took a little nap.

Then he jumped into the net.
I didn't realise they had safety nets under bridges.

No idea, I'll be happy if he just stays out of my yard.

Cool bridge. I used to enjoy concrete work.

I worked in a prestress plant right out of high school ( so I could buy a C2 before starting college). Drove the mixers, cranes, forklifts.
They made big stuff, 8ft wide double Ts, 40 ft long, etc.

The new I355 extension here has a lot of pre-cast in the elevated portion, about a mile long. It's impressive. In '74-'75 I worked on Water Tower Place, at the time the worlds tallest reinforced concrete building (75 stories). The grand staircase went up 2 floors, stairs, planter boxes, 4 escalators, waterfalls, covered in marble, all formed up in concrete. I was the apprentice. That was something. I have pics. somewhere.

Bears are really beautiful creatures as long as they're not gnawing on your neck or trying to break into your house. I have a friend that lives on Kodiak Island in Alaska. He has a hunting camp. I've seen the damage they can do. He has also shot and killed a world record bear on the island. That sucka was a monster. He invited me to stay there. He would have picked me up from the local airport with his seaplane. I never went. It was just a little too wild for me.
