I had a radiator put in by a local speed shop last year. It started leaking over the winter. Today was finally nice enough to take the car in. So the kid that's working on it calls me back to let me know the cause of the problem. It was no big deal, the drain plug was rubbing on the shroud, so the shroud will have to be trimmed.

So, at the end of the call, the kid says: "I gotta tell you, what you've done to that car is very tasteful, and well done. Nice touches without going over the top."

Sorta made my day.

Especially after another long winter. Fixing problems that spring up when it's just sitting, unable to drive it.

Driving it to the shop was fun, and the compliment, especially coming from a car guy at a speed shop, just was icing on the cake.

Simple stuff, really.
I cut the airbox, and painted it red.
Put a chrome cover on the brake booster. Chrome ZR1 knock off wheels.
Magnaflow catback.
The Corvette logo thing to cover the seat controls. The plate for the engine ID on the console.
And a couple red decals stripes on the hood.
My car is a white 87 coupe with red interior.
Most of my efforts have been on getting and keeping it in good mechanical shape.

He's a car guy, so he noticed.

Yep. Sent the chip back. They refunded the price.
The car runs pretty good, and we went over about everything you would think of... replaced the tps and set it, replaced the MAF, fuel pressure, timing.
For some reason, the chip and my car didn't get along.

25 yrs ago I spent a lot of time in your town and I remember a speed shop on rte 8 just north of Cuyahoga Falls, but can't remember the name of it. It was on the left and then Jasper Engine was a few miles further up the road on the right. Just curious if it might still be the same shop.

No, this shop is new. Just opened a couple years ago. They're affiliated with Falls Autobody.

Let me know next time you come through!
