Good Morning CGs!
Well it's back to work for me today. I'm actually looking forward to it as a break from my "days off"! I think I did more work in the last 3 days than usual. I didn't get a chance to relax. Oh well. I did make it to the pistol range last night. My cousin bought a new springfield xd 9 a few months ago and wanted to go play. So I cracked open the safe and pulled out a couple of my glocks to go. Didn't shoot half bad. Didn't shoot half great, either I used to be quite the marksman but lack of practice shows when you get back into it. I shot the xd and I thought it was a decent gun. I wasn't too fond of the ergonomics. Maybe something you get used to. So overall it was fun. Hope everyone has a great day! Matthew |

Good Mornin' All,
Matt - I know what you mean. I have a few toys too and my Glock 35 and 27 are two of my favorites I guess. Well, then there is.... When I lived in South Carolina my best friends owned a 450 acre shooting center. It had been used for the Olympic Shooting training center prior to the 1996 Olympics when they were held in Atlanta. Anyway, I practically lived there. I shot Trap and Sporting Clays nearly three times a week and got out to the rifle & pistol bays at least one of those days. After moving back north to "ObamaLand" (Maryland/DC) shooting venues are few and far between, and I rarely get to take them out and shoot. Last time I went, I was like you. I did better than a buddy but not near as good as I used to be. I do miss shooting leauges. Lots of great guys just out having some fun! I did IDPA for several years and then tried a few IPSC matches. I like to find a good local group that shoots IDPA or IPSC again, but alas... time is a comodity that we don't have much of these days. Take Care and have a great day. |

Greetings! I don't have a gun, but there are times teaching this class when I'd like to shoot myself. Last day of class today.
Enjoy your day - this looks like a bad one to be stuck indoors. |

Sold all our guns over 20 years ago. I've been tempted lately to get my concealed weapons permit and a handgun or two. It's always nice to have an equalizer since I can't kick ass the way I used too. Last time I fought someone Matatk was in pre-K so there really hasn't been a need. I don't hang around places where Ebonics is the primary language so the threat level is greatly reduced. Looks like I'll be cleaning up around the house today. Time to go put on my maid outfit.

Damn Bill your maid pic got my attention. Usually school computer blocks this kind of art work.
I like going to the range to unstress, maybe need to do trigger time soon. Zoe6 had to drive to Indy this morning on business. Need to cut her yard after school, big thrill!! I think with her time restraints she will wait until spring to buy tires. Well guys second period starts now, gotta go!! |

I always get a smile when I watch"expert" gun handlers shooting paper targets. Different story when target shoots back! I have been trying to break the habit of double tapping at the range, It works for a while then I resort back to the way I was trained. I could save half my ammo!
Second hour went well! 4 kids with ankle bracelets on, I told them long term use of the electronic device will make them sterile! |

Morning gurus.....I spent yesterday in meetings all morning and then again in the afternoon. We (the VocEd dept) are in the middle of redefining our programs and transitioning to "pathways" from the old VE2 crap. What I am finding out is I need to teach about 8 different classes, only problem is we have a 7 period day and by law I get a "planning period", so that means I'm not spread thin enough.....what BS. More crap because the Federal & state govt have gotten their hands into the education system and f@*ked it up royally.
First and second periods over. So far so good, kids are pretty mundane thus far. They really don't have a chance to say much the first day or two. The weather here is just perfect, looking for highs in low 80's and a little breeze. Hope you have a great Weds. |

And poverty doesn't affect or effect a students ability to learn!1 Hey when your hungry and cold its pretty damn hard to read Shakesphere! Our school is at 85% poverty with 100% free lunch and 68% english is a second language and the State wants to take us over! because of low English scores. Opps ranting Anyway tossed two kids out 3rd hour for intimidating a student. Little street pukes!

One down and 178 to go. Kicked out 4 today! 2 for intimidation, one did not want to get dirty, and one said he didn't like white teachers. Not a problem. Back in the day my rifle was a Remington 700 with an Unertl Scope .308. Our sniper training was in Quantico at the Marine Scout Sniper School. The sniper rifles now use the Remington Bolt Action and the rest is done by Marine Corp Armorers. The newest round thats making a "big hit" is the Lapua 6mm. I have fired the Barrett .50 cal with a US Optics Scope. Nice platform surprising low recoil, reach out and touch someone at 1 mile. What is so incredible is the one sniper can take out a parked aircraft at one mile with a 20 dollar bullet. I don't miss those days one bit. Todays SEALs have to know alot more than we did when it comes to politics, their enemy and projected outcome. Covert stuff is basically the same. |

On the lighter side! I have been looking at the ballistics and stopping power of a 22 magnum revolver. Way back when we used a 22LR as a "hush puppy" round. 22 Mag has been around since 1935 and has surprising penetration. Nice round for a female to use for protection.

.22 does nasty things in the body. Since it does not have a lot of impact force it tends to bounce off of bones and even organs as it tumbles tail over head inside the body. It can be much more deadly than a large caliber at close range. A well placed shot of any caliber is deadly. Matthew |

Exactly! Its always placement, but I think a 22mag is a great round that can do as much tissue damage as a 25 without the intimidation of a larger caliber round. I thinking as a self-protection round for a female. Ten rounds in a revolver vs 6 in a semi auto. I have first hand experience with the round. This would be for home protection not CC. |

I had a lovely little .25 beretta jetfire tip up barrel that I sold to a female friend of mine. She carries it in her purse. The gun was a super straight shooter but the ammo was so damn expensive! I had no use for it and she needed one so I passed it off to her.

Erin didn't like my Beretta .25 she had the perverbal slide bite. Thats why I began thinking of the 22 mag. She has my S&W model 19 Combat Magnum with plus p 38 in it 4 inch barrel. Her purse carry is a tactical baton. Her lab has 24 hr security and if she works late they walk her to her car. On away trips she carries a Beretta Tomcat. She has her CC. She had carpal tunnel surgery which the Model 19 would kick the crap out of her hand causing time lost reacquisistion of the target. |

Never shot the tomcat but heard it's a nice little .32.
A revolver is a great cc, but isn't the model 19 a little big for cc? I have a buddy with a s&w featherweight and it's pretty small. There are some very nice .380 semi autos for cc, too. I have a very nice beretta .380 but found out it's actually worth more as a collector gun than as a shooter. So I retired it and I'd like to trade it for a beretta 92 or a 1911. Never shot a 1911 but I really liked shooting my buddy's beretta 92. Matthew |

Model 19 is for home protection only, I think the Tomcat she would CC in her purse if she feels the need. We have had a rash of high end car jackings in the last year. With her new zo6 she would be a handful with out a weapon and her vette. Many times she travels with her collie and she would fight to the death to protect her dog. She is excellent in krav maga and muay thai. |
