Good Morning CGs!

Well it was a nice day yesterday and should be another nice one today. Drove the vette to work yesterday and it performed flawlessly. Happy that it's running well.

By the time I got home it was too late to hang up the Christmas lights around the gutters. It was pitch black at 5:30 and I wasn't climbing on the ladder. I'm off tomorrow so it looks like that's the magic day. It's too cold otherwise, so I'm gonna take advantage of the nice weather. My daughter absolutely loves the lights, so that's a nice thing. We won't turn them on until December, but I want to have them up.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Some people are ready with their Christmas lights all year long. Today I'm gonna cut the grass and clean the yard and do some clean up inside the house. Hope to get in a little cruise later in the day if I have any energy left. Have gureat day.

Good Morning Gurus. Another picture perfect day! high near 70, lots of sun. The way it looks cold front coming through Saturday with rain and colder next week. Like Matt said gets dark now at 5:30pm, put flood lights on last night to finish outside stuff, leafs and pulling up dead plants.
Need to change oil in the vehicles after school, and ATF in the S-10.
Looking at a home in foreclosure tonight! Great buy! its pretty sad and depressing for the owners. Six years from paying it off and they loose their jobs. In this poor economy and housing market their equity is reduced to almost nothing.
Well guys need to motivate a few students!

I was showing my wife some homes in the 150K to 200K range. Some pretty good deals to be had. These houses had a garage and 2600 to 2900 sq. ft. and 1/3 to to 3/4 acre lots. What we really need though is 1 acre +, a big garage/shop and a modest home maybe 1800 to 2000 sq ft. I'm on the prowl.

Happy Hump Day! I managed to get my Christmas lights up yesterday just before dark, so at least that chore is off my list. We have another nice day on tap - it was supposed to start getting cold today, but Mother Nature gave us a little reprieve.

Today marks 1 year since I gave up cigarettes and switched to the e-cig.

Have a great day, all!

Your right there are a lot of homes at super prices.
The one I'm looking at tonight is 2445sqft. 2/1/2 bath, 2 1/2 stall garage, 3/4 acre lot, built in 1975, in the county. Sadly its going for whats owed on the mortgage and back taxes. Its a bank take over. I'm thinking $35,000 should do it. Sealed bids they will open them Nov 19. I should know later that afternoon.

My daughter picked up her house 3 years ago in a bank foreclorsure for half of what it was worth and that was before the economy took a dump. She has 2600 sqft 2 story, 2 1/2 bath, fenced yard and 2 stall garage. Like I said a lot of values out there. On the bidding process I may not get it. I was beat out in time by ten dollars on a bid. I usually look at whats owed and add 10%.

We had our first snow fall last week a total of 2", next day warmed up to 60.
These nice days won't last, we are on barrowed time. I don't mind the snow but -20 degree days suck!!!

Sounds like me trying to buy an air compressor on Craig's List.

The foreclosures are really sad, especially for the people who didn't do 125% financing and have been in their homes a long time.

We're #1 in the nation for foreclosures here unfortunately.
They've been doing auctions with people getting really good deals.

If you're buying a property to live in for 5-10 years, now is the time to buy.

Erin's smart and 10 years down the road stands to see this become a really good investment. Plus, she gets to live there.

I truly hate to see fore closures! especially the ones where the owners have poured a lot of money in their home with no return on their investment.

This is her second house purchased this way! She is really results orientated when it comes to money and her time. The only semi foolish purchase was her ZO6 but even that was a great buy!!
She paid her house off last year and with her Doctrate looming in the future not sure sure if shes going to have time for marriage, flipping this house she is in now. She is motivated.. My wife blames me for this!!

Were kinda of dead locked in the snow belt! Lake effect snow off of Lake Michigan can go nuts anytime during the winter, Big fluffy flakes driven by wind, love it!

I made the mistake of dropping a zz4 GM performance Engine in my little S-10 4x4 and everytime I drop it in gear with a little snow the rearend breaks loose. So consequently everytime it snows it has to be in 4 wheel drive. Bad mileage, my carbon foot print is hugh! sounds great!, when we get a hard rain it goes in 4wheel drive. Must have been a senior moment! My wife will say"Ron, why did you do that?" answer!" because I can" She hates to think of me retiring from teaching, I've been eyeing my Toro Zero Turn Radius mower and the 4.3 V6 I took out of the s-10. She is really worried when she saw my drawings. Some guys get into porn or drugs, I get into stuffing big ass engines into little spaces.

Yea, my 1/2 ton Silverado with no posi could be better but I'm not one of the "All Wheel Drive Wimps". With one wheel drive i can plow thru 12 inches, just can't start out on an incline.

I do have a Sur=Track bladder in the bed that holds 300 lbs of water/ice that helps.

Where I teach in South Bend to Granger is about 20 miles. Two years ago we had 7" of blowing and drifting snow in 3 hours. Roads were bad, visability zero, snow coming down at 2" per hour with 45-50 mph winds. 4 hours later I got home. At one point I went off the road out in the county with snow over my hood. Great!!!! It was really quiet, peaceful. That will stick in my brain for awhile.
Bill I don't know how you do it without 4 wheel drive. County plows don't clear us out for days after a heavy snow. Everyone soon learns at least one of your vehicles needs to be a 4x4 and even bone stock Jeep Wranglers aren't up to the task when confronted with 36" of blowing a drifting without a lift kit and some big deep tires. I think its the wet heavy stuff that complicates driving.

When we get our annual 1" snowstorm all of the idiots with 4X4s go out to play in it. Since they have no idea what they are doing a lot of them wreck. On the other hand whatever we get usually melts off by noon.

Yea Andy they do that here to! Idiots, My farm kids at school with 4x4 know how to drive them with common sense. The street urchines get a used high mileage Escalade and total it out in the first snow. Usually they slam into each other or brick walls and a couple of times the school.. Copping a lean gangsta style, rap music up as high as it will go and they hit the frickin school. Air bags go off! Funny in a sick way!! Nah its funny!!!

Speaking of home prices in the Lurch, from SeekingAlpha:

2:23 PM Zillow's Q3 housing report shows accelerating declines in home values and a record 23.2% of mortgages underwater - with no end in sight. "The length and depth of the current housing recession is rivaling the Great Depression’s real estate downturn," Zillow says, "and, with encouraging signs fading, will easily eclipse it in the coming months."

Take a picture and post it on the school bulletin board. Maybe start an 'idiot of the day' thing.

Where I teach in South Bend to Granger is about 20 miles. Two years ago we had 7" of blowing and drifting snow in 3 hours. 4 hours later I got home.

Bill I don't know how you do it without 4 wheel drive.

My trip was from San Jose,Ca. to Reno, normally 4hrs 45min.
This trip was 14 1/2 hrs. Note: A Ford Taurus will idle 9 1/2 hours on 3/8ths tank of gas.

I don't need no stinkin' 4 wheel drive, I just let er rip. Might get a 4x4 next time though.

You & Andy mentioned 4x4's, Ha! What da-ya think caused a big rig to jacknife and stuck me up there?

I'd love to get you & Andy up over Donner Summit with me in a 4x4. We'd go slow and make it easily. It's fun to watch, going east to west with the Nevadains who live here, no wrecks.
Coming west to east watching the Ca. drivers in their 4x4's, a wreck every 1/2 mile.

4x4's brakes are the same as every other freekin' car's!

Want real fun ? I towed a 24ft. enclosed trailer with a Ford Excursion over Donner in a foot of snow. Chains in the rear of the 4x4, chains on one set of trailer wheels.
Downhill was a blast, a 7,000 lb. trailer pushing you from behind when you hit the brakes.

A 4x4 will get stuck more often than a 2 wheel drive. When I was in TX last Christmas I was passing the SUV's that were going 15-20mph w/flashers. I was in the Alero. You want to talk about not knowing how to drive on slick surfaces.

BTW my truck is 4x4. It is nice for off the line in the snow, or when the inlaws slide off my driveway.

Atta boy, Brad! The first year is the hardest. It was for me anyway. It was windy and cool here but turned out really nice. Lots of outdoor work going on around here.

I'm a happy boy, 140 psi air to play with.

And I didn't electrocute myself.
