Sobering thought ..... 10 years ago and before I would have awakened this morning and my first words woulda been "oooooohhhhhhhh! my head" Hair of the dog would have to have been deployed to ease my pain. Instead it's rise and shine with the first of two cups of coffee already in place. One of the good things about not drinking is how great you feel when you get up in the morning. .... Well maybe not great, but I feel pretty damn good compared to ......... oooooooohhhhhh, my head ............

Congrats Tommy on another day! When I was in college I had a hard time deciding when enough was enough. After a few really bad experiences and the help of a college counselor I found a balance and ways to keep myself from waking up with that feeling the next morning. Not that I haven't slipped along the way a couple times over the years since then, but I'm glad I figured it out and on a certain level can relate with you on this accomplishment!

For today, Memorial Day, I want to thank any and all Corvette Gurus that have served in the military in any capacity for supporting our country and assuring our continued freedom! For all those men and women that have lost their lives fighting for our freedoms, I say a prayer for you and your families today too! Thank You for the sacrifice! Thank you for the time away from your family and loved ones, thank you for your courage! Today is your day for thanks.

Myself, I'm going to take it easy today! Probably work on the car a little bit and then get some work done here on the computer that I should have done and passed off on Friday. So with that said ...Have a Great Memorial Day Gurus!

Good Memorial day gurus.....Let me chime in too Tommy. Thankfully I never got in that position (maybe a couple of binges), but I can fully respect the work and dedication that it requires to get clean. I'd also like to thank all our servicemen for their efforts to make this country what it is.

We are under wind advisory today....35-50 and higher gusts, it's going to be a fun trip home today.

Good Morning CGs!

Happy Memorial Day to all. Thanks to our servicepeople former and current

Gonna spend some time with the whiff and rugrat #2 today working around the house. BIL and his GF are taking rugrat #1 to the zoo today so that gives us a break. Should be nice.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Brad - I forgot to ask you - have you figured out the shudder/hiccup you were searching for? Last I remember you took it to the shop but maybe they couldn't find anything?

avoirdupois

First of all, that's not English. No English speaking person would come up with any word even resembling avoirdupois. Sounds like a French Poodle was visiting someones front yard and left an avoirdupois.

Good Morning Gurus! Man, I slept in today and that is unusual for me. I was up early but then was reading my Corvette Mag in bed and fell back asleep. I dreamed I was at a Corvette shop and people were driving their cars in and there were things to eat and I was giving advice to them and telling them about the Guru........then the dog jumped up in bed and I woke up. It was a good dream.

I'm with you Tommy, 21 years for me since demon rum has passed my lips. I am at a point that I could drink a cold beer every now and then but then I just get a Busch N/A and that takes care of it. I have seen alcohol distroy a lot of lives and it was on the way to mess mine up if I didn't quit. So with some help from above and wanting to be a responsible husband and father I gave it up. Never looked back and never regreted it.

Thank you all who have served and are serving for the freedoms I enjoy. A lot of men and women have died or been hurt a long way from the homes and folks they love, to do that for me and mine. I never forget or take what I have for granted.

I am going to eat steak and potato salad and drive my Vette today! I hope you guys have and easy day......

Happy Memorial Day, Gurus! Eternal thanks to those who have sacrificed for our country - whenever I go to Fort Snelling cemetery and look across the sea of thousands of white headstones, it is very moving.

Congrats to you, Tommy - I could go the rest of my life without ever missing that "ooooohhhhhhhhh" feeling. When I think back, most of the really stupid, embarrassing or dangerous things I have ever done happened when I had too much to drink.

Matt, I swapped out my injectors the other night on the mechanic's recommendation. It idles better and runs smoother up to about 3500-4000 RPM, but there is still some vibration above that. Maybe I'll give the flywheel weights another shot since it is running a bit better now.

Gotta get busy and finish buttoning up the Vette so I can take a couple pics. It's still kinda dark as the latest cell of rain is just moving out of here.

Have a great day, everyone!

I still do stupid, embarrassing and dangerous things even without drinking. Half of them are posts on a certain website.

Good for you Tommy.

I can't remember the last time I had a hangover but it was a long time ago. I like to have a beer in the late afternoon (usually at the casino) and one with dinner. 3 beers in one day makes me sleepy. If someone could make a geally good N/A beer, they'ed make millions.

THANK YOU to our Troops.

Brad, I hope you track down those annoyances as with Matt Don and JeffK and all the other gurus who have undergone recent engine upgrades and modifications. Memorial Day is traditionally the launch of car season. Hope everybody gets to enjoy the driving season soon.

Good morning and Happy Memorial Day, all!

Off shortly to the memorial commemoration my father (Captain, United States Navy, Retired) runs in Ardmore. Than over to my parents for the traditional Memorial Day spread.

Worked on cleaning up the garage during the break in the racing yesterday afternoon: found a bunch of parts I forgot I had. Hmmm ... should clean up more often!

Good morning guys! This chat idea is great. This forum is probably THE friendliest on the web, bar none and the most knowledgeable!

As my wife and I are both retired from the USAF, its one of my favorite days... for remembrance, certainly as we both have relatives and friends to think about, but also...all the great war movies on old movie channel!!! Saw a very young Robert Mitchum in the Dolittle raid movie last night (DVR)!

Thank you guys for your remembrances and to all veterans for your sacrifices!

It is 90 something here and the wind is blowing about 50 mph which isn't good. I also went out and was going to start the car and the battery was dead. I had left the door partially open the last time I had been in it. Probably best don't want to drive in this wind anyway. Hope I don't burn the steak......

Happy B-Day Letty! I'm thinking you don't look a day over 29.....

The most Letty could possibly be is thirty-thirteen.

BBQ went well. Kids, pool, food, relatives ...
My wifes cousin came in. He was wearing a Lamborghini hat. I said to him. It's nice to have the hat, would be better if you had the car. He smiled, lit up his cigar and said Tommy, come-here. We strolled over to the fence and he said "Look out there". There sat a 2009 Eggshell Blue Lambo Gallardo. That's Debbies'(his wifes') car he said. Wanna go for a ride? Sure, I said. He paddle shifted through the gears. We were exceeding the speed limit a little bit through the neighborhood. Well, well. If you wait long enough I guess one day you get to ride in one of these things. A couple of folks there asked if it was mine. I said nah, my pockets aren't deep enough. Don't believe they'll ever be deep enough. If I'm gonna spend that kind of money it has to have at least two bedrooms and two baths. Like he said to me though ..... You only live once.

Yep, you only live once.

A woman decides to have a face lift for her 50th birthday.

She spends $15,000 and feels pretty good about the results.

On her way home, she stops at a newsstand to buy a newspaper.

Before leaving, she says to the clerk, 'I hope you don't mind my asking, but how old do you think I am

'About 32,' is the reply.'

'Nope! I'm exactly 50,' the woman says happily.

A little while later she goes into McDonald's and asks the counter girl the very same question.

The girl replies, 'I'd guess about 29.'

The woman replies with a big smile, 'Nope, I'm 50.'

Now she's feeling really good about herself.. She stops in a drug store on her way down the street.

She goes up to the counter to get some mints and asks the clerk this burning question.

The clerk responds, 'Oh, I'd say 30.'

Again she proudly responds, 'I'm 50, but thank you!'

While waiting for the bus to go home, she asks an old man waiting next to her the same question.

He replies, 'Lady, I'm 78 and my eyesight is going. Although, when I was young there was a sure-fire way to tell how old a woman was. It sounds very forward, but it requires you to let me put my hands under your bra. Then, and only then can I tell you EXACTLY how old you are.'

They wait in silence on the empty street until her curiosity gets the best of her.

She finally blurts out, 'What the hell, go ahead.'

He slips both of his hands under her blouse and begins to feel around very slowly and carefully.

He bounces and weighs each breast and he gently pinches each nipple.

He pushes her breasts together and rubs them against each other.

After a couple of minutes of this, she says, 'Okay, okay....How old am I?'

He completes one last squeeze of her breasts, removes his hands, and says, 'Madam, you are 50.'

Stunned and amazed, the woman says, 'That was incredible, how could you tell?'

'I was behind you at McDonalds'

Evening gurus....I made it home safe and sound, but man was it windy, and hot. The wind was even blowing the Corvette around on the road some and the thermometer showed as high as 103, so wind felt like a blast furnace.

Happy B-day Letty, I hope it was good for you.

I love it

Way back around 1975 five of us left Ramstein Germany on a roadtrip and campout to the Luxembourg border on the Mosel River. It was in a 60's VW bus. At our destination we pitched tents and we partied like it was 1999. We went across the border and found this little club full of locals. We drank and laughed and drank and laughed till the middle of the night. They made us feel so welcome. Those were the days .... Oh ya! Those were the days ....
