I'm not sure how I feel about it but it's very possible the C7 will have another option among the typical large displacement engines.

So how would you like the option, of a turbocharged, 3.0L V8, with a rev limit somewhere around 10K RPMs?

It makes sense. But I am sure this is just another urban legend until GM actually states it to be true.

Maybe they could lighten the car up and make it a little smaller.

As much as I would love to see this happen, if it does, the Corvette will die. The Corvette hasn't been considered high-tech since the C3.

What a retard.

I'd like to see his high tech dream car (he is probally a Datsun GTR fanboy) against my low tech C4.

I heard it was going to be a 5.3 or a 5.5 direct inject and blown V8. I don't think it will be overhead cams but 10K r's is easier with overhead cams I'm thinking. I hope the car doesn't look weird.

If the car looks like the Transformer's version, I'll boycott it until the C8. My tastes tend to skip gens anyway. I loved C3s, not so much for C4s and C5s, but I LOVE C6s.

I guess it's only fair that I won't like the C7.

Regardless, I just can't wrap my head around liking a 3.0L V8. Turbo lags behind torque, and that's what I like.

A forced induction 5.5L would be better that a 3.0L, but then again I do prefer the larger displacement engines.

I don't see it happening. They should put in less electronics, a bigger engine, and a smaller price tag

Dunno about that. The C5 was the homer. Leaps and bounds beyond anything else in the price range, and the Z06 went even further. I expect a few ground balls for awhile.

The C6 is basically a re-skin with goofy electronic gadgets, and the C6 Z06 is fast but can't really be modified. Oh, and it's $75k, No longer a performance bargain. In other words, they ruined it.

Nothing really changes. I couldn't afford a new one when I was a kid and I can't afford a new one now. Now a Chevy Impala or Malibu or base level Camaro ............. I can swing it. But why would I want to.

I'm glad they will offer engine options other than the 3.0L V8. I highly doubt the supercharger will help it compare to the 6.2L in terms of torque at low RPMs.

I like the premise and the appeal of the high revving design like the European sports cars, but they are forgetting a very important thing...where will buyers be driving there C7s where 10K is okay...or legal?

Anyone remember the Top Gear where the guys were here driving and tried a few of our American roads that rank high among our enthusiasts? I think they gave up after 20 minutes on a 35 MPH road. This is how we differ from Euro roads and highways. We have speed limits everywhere. Europe has quite a few unrestricted motorways...perfect for triple digit speeds without going to jail. Not the case here.

High revving small displacement engines are perfect for European roads and drivers. Low revving torque monsters let us Americans have our fun while still somewhat obeying strict traffic laws.

Oh, and if GM ever drops the larger displacement engine options...I highly recommend we all start buying the LS crate engines for future engine swaps in future Corvette models.

The article is saying that GM is targeting the Porsche and Lambo guy. I don't know if that is a big market here in the States. Porsche maybe, but the Corvette is unique in the roll it plays they just have to make all aspects of the Vette more desireable. The LS engines are the best they have ever been.

I agree with what Durango is saying about small displacement engines being what works in Europe but not here in the good ole USA. Long live torque, cubic inches and rock and roll!

That article is full of shit and we all know it.

High revving V8s are going the way of the albatross in regards to emissions standards. That's why BMW is going big-bore turbo V8 for the M-editions starting now, and with each subsiquent intro.

I am trying to confirm something I was told by a "collector" at Sebring. He said that if the car production is kept under 2000 units per year, it has different EPA emission standards. It might be true, but it could also be a fantasy... and considering his arrogance, I am leaning towards fantasy.

I haven't found anything to back this up. And finding info on the EPA site isn't easy.
