They didn't get a buy out offer over the weekend, so they are shutting down. Going out of business starts soon, I guess.

A victim of the Internet, really. I feel sorry for those that own their reader, tho!

Who is going to sell books to all those Berkeley intellectuals now that Amazon won't sell in CA?

What are heck are they doing? Where are all those coffee house poets going to hang out?

Borders closed its doors last October. Barnes and Noble seems to be doing quite well. Notre Dame Hang Out now!

I suspect that this closure will keep B&N open for a while longer.

This truly depresses me. I am old school and like to hold a real book in my hands not some electronic gadget. Oh well, I still have Barnes and Noble 20 miles down the road.

Sad but I guess I'll be going to B&N online for my Nook books and to Books a Million since that's the only game in this town.

I have been listening to audio books from Audible.com since their inception. Before this I ingested books both fiction and non-fiction by the wheelbarrow full. I would rip through paperbacks in just a few days if they were really good. However as my time started shrinking and my commute got longer I gave audio books a try and I was hooked. I still have a ton of magazines and will buy an occasional book about something I'm interested but primarily relay on Audible and Amazon Kindle. I have Kindle installed on my DROID X, my laptop and desktop computers. I can read just about anywhere digitally as long as there is a Kindle edition or Audible.

We have giant internet warehouses here.

Barnes & Noble - 4 miles from my house.
JC Penney's million sq ft distribution canter - 8 mi.
Amazon - out by the race track - 30 mi.

If I order something from any of them, thay ship it from Georgia.
