Do you think being sold at a Barrett-Jackson auction they'll go for over-market prices? I can post up the final sales prices after the auction to see who comes closest. No prizes. just braggin' rights!

The 96 has the rare 350/350hp option! That is a selling point!

That's a novel location for the ECM on the '94.
I hope they go for top dollar.
I think you're pretty close, but the way people are throwing quarters around like man hole covers....

Before the buyers premium, right? Not the total. If you add buers premium and tax it would jump at least 15%. That makes a $10,0000 at least $11,500. Closest auction bid price wins.

Yep, we're just going by what the final bid price is. No buyers/sellers premiums.

True.

And it's not just B&J either.

I'd damn near buy from a used car lot before one of these guys.

They usually use those fake bids to get it up toward the reserve. No sense in shilling a good bid prospect.

I'd rather deal with an owner directly that wants to sell their car. A seller that wants to dump their pride and joy is likely to negotiate. Every once in awhile their is a deal for someone with a pocketload of cash. Money talks.

I stand corrected. The post-sale price that B-J posts on their website DOES include the buyers premium. I'm not sure how we would calculate that out.

It looks like the '86 and '94 have already crossed the block!

The '86 sold for $8,250.00 (including buyers comission)
(well-sold in my opinion)

The '94 sold for $8,800.00 (including buyers comission)
(Did I nail that one or what?!!)

The CE is still waiting to cross the block.

//Edit** Matt actually hit the '94's price exactly at $8,000. **Edit//

Figured it out.

Assuming a 10% buyers premium...

The '86 sold for $7,500 (final bid price before comission)

The '94 sold for $8,000 (final bid price before comission)

And the '96 CE just sold for (be sure your sitting down)...

$19,000.00!!!

With the buyer's premium, the final out-the-door price was $20,900.00!!!

So, the final results were:

'86 - $7,500

'94 - $8,000

CE - $19,000

We all undervalued the '86, all came pretty close on the '94, and none of us were anywhere near on the CE.

I came closest on the '86 (guessed $6,500 - sold $7,500).

Matt nailed the '94 on the head at $8,000.

Corvetteronw came very close on the CE (guessed $16,700 - sold $19.000), and I think he came closest overall. WINNER!!

I'm a little blown away by the CE, but I guess when you think about it, the car is super clean, has VERY low mileage, and was a fairly low production model (CE) with a one-year-only performance engine.

Interesting stuff.

I can only figure the 96 sold so high since it's an LT4 + low miles. They overpaid for the 86, sorry.

Good to see an unmolested, documented '86 selling for a halfway decent price. Gray is a popular color, too. Just look around.

Welcome to car collecting. You never know what a collector needs to fill out a collection.

Good C4s, especially early cars, are getting harder and harder to find. Most have been rode hard and put up wet or have been modified to the point of restoration being pointless.

I am quite curious what j3studio's 85 will sell for the day he sells it. If I was him, I would B-J it so he gets the bid war going. This is all under the assumption he wants or needs to sell, of course.

Regardless of needs, it begs the question what a documented Top Flight C4 is worth... and how long that documentation will prop up the value. In other words, if he sells in 5 years, would it be best to go through another round of verification before selling?

I won't sell the 1985 until I can't drive it anymore.

That said, I would get killed in this market because of my mileage, which sits right now at 70k. Early C4 collectors (and there are some) can pick and choose and almost all of them look for much lower mileage - there are nice cars out there in 15k to 25k range. The only thing that might save me is if someone locks in on the color; unlikely, but possible.

Like the 40th Anniversary and the 50th Anniversary cars, the 1996 Collector's Edition appeals to Corvette owners who have older, much more expensive iron. For someone who has a couple mid-years, $19k on 1996 is but a pittance for a very refined (and gorgeous) C4. Make mine a 'vert with red guts and the six speed ...

... but another C4 is not at the top of our Corvette purchasing list.
