My wife was following me in the day time on our way to the Dyno tuner, and I got ahead of here @ 1/2 mile in the traffic, she told me,, "I could see your tail lamps even from a distance so I knew where you were going". That was in the day time.

The Halo kit is $210, a little pricey but very worth it since the 85 model year does not have a 3rd tail light, it makes up for it.

I also put the LED interior lights in the cabin, much brighter!

The Halo lamps are brigher than the Ecklers due to the roudn Halo

The LED circuitry has a different load rating and you need to replace the flasher relays to support that load rating.

Yes, it is basically a higher amp unit and it has aground wire on it so you can run it to the chassis. It was $5 or something at AZ.

There are 2 flashers you need for 2 different purposes(at least on an 84.)

One is the tail light flasher (located in 84 on the passenger side below the "breadbox"). The one I bought from Eckler's had an additional ground wire.

and the other is the Hazard Flasher which on 84 is behind the DIC(Driver Info Cluster-warning lights). I didnt buy this from Eckler's because at the time they didnt warn me I needed a second one... so I eventually bought one at autozone and it worked fine :-)

Hope that helps your application and an idea of what you may need to disassemble :-)

I like those lights, I just can't bite the bullet for the cost right now

Now it's time to do your third brake light as an LED if you haven't already

Nice thing is the 85's don't have the third brake light.

Reminds me I need to put mine in too. They do look good.

I really like the instant on feature of LED's.
It's like a slap in the face to the texter/cell yakker that's bearing down on your rear bumper.
