Good Morning CGs!

Got online and started reading the headlines. Very sad shooting up in Wisconsin where some crazy guy went in to a Sikh temple and started killing people. Also shot a police officer who responded before another one shot and killed him. What a tragedy for everyone involved. What is wrong with these people nowadays? Basically since Columbine there has been a marked increase in these mass shooting sprees. I don't understand it. Very sad any way you look at it.

Back to work for me. I have to call the chiropractor today and schedule an adjustment for this week. Back is still feeling better but no 100%. I'll try to keep up a visit a week for the next month at least and see how that goes. I'm sure he'll tell me to come more, but we all know how that goes.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

GM CGs

Survived anniversary day. Went out for breakfast then did some shopping. Fixed a couple of things at the house then went out for a nice dinner at a local Italian eatery. Really good food. We had calamari and crab stuffed mushrooms appitizers. I ordered veal and chicken breast Marsala. My wife ordered a veal dish with a lemon butter and caper sauce. I had a tinge of guilt eating the veal but got over it quickly after I took the first bite. Those poor little veals. Things return to normal today (normal around here). Next big event is Sue's birthday about a month from now. That's the next time I'll have to bow my head in submission. Until then it's the usual "Yes Dear" stuff that comes up almost daily. Whatever possessed Alexander Graham Bell to to invent the phone? If he knew how much trouble it would cause he would have buried that project. Smoke signals and beating on drums is just so much more effective.

Sorry honey, I missed your message . I must have been indoors at the time.

Greetings! Had a short commute down the hall this morning - the energy audit guy will be here later. Should be interesting to see what he has to say. That shooting yesterday was sickening, indeed. Glad to hear your anniversary didn't involve a dog house, Tommy ;-)

Have a good day, everyone!

Nuts....it's monday.....and I feel like crap....my whole body aches and I'm stuffed up...what the hell...plus I get to go to work....on the brighter side......it's good to be alive.

Did nothing yesterday....nothing, and it felt good. I felt this coming on and hoped I could ward it off by staying in but no joy there.

Gotta go....onward and upward Guru's....

Coffee has me jittery and tired at the same time. A/C guy is coming over this afternoon. Though I would like to replace my 20 y/o A/C- heating system I think I'm gonna just have the coils and ducts cleaned and have the outside unit serviced. $400 vereses about $4000. My wallet says $400. Next year I may go for a system upgrade and go for a more energy efficient unit. Who knows. I could easily change my mind. With rebates and savings incentives I could get pushed over the edge. Now if it comes in closer to 3k for the replacements I want, it could be enough to alter my thinking. I think I have a 4 ton unit. I'll see what the ex-spurt has to say.

It cost 5 biils to get my A/C cleaned and repaired. $350 to remove and acid wash the coils. $150 to do the blower plus he repaired a couple of item on the outside unit. There was a leaking valve plus they repaired and replaced the main service to the unit. A/C blows strong and cool. ...... Nice! ...... Replacemnt units $4800 for a 4 ton or $6400 for a dual unit that has a 4 ton and 2 ton compressor . The 4 ton cools the house down then the 2 ton maintains the temps. Supposed to be a serious energy saver. Worry about that when the A/C goes out. He told me I should be good for a couple of more years based on the condition of the current unit. Now I can go away in peace if I want to. I had to check the coils every night to see if they had frozen over. The uptake was blocked about 75% with dirt and dust, animal hair and goo. Glad it's finally done.

Evening guys...we buried my friend today. It was tough, but i found out that the odds of making it through the surgery were lower than he told me. But, I also found out that the prognosis was not good without the surgery, so he tossed the dice and probably won by not having to suffer, either from the basically dying by drowning in his own fluids or suffering the recouperation after the surgery. After talking to the family, I'm pretty sure he knew the odds were way against him.

Being a retired navy man (submarine service for 20 years), they had a crew to honor him. As they were folding the flag, it hit me that I should have made a flag case. So after the funeral I approached the widow and told her what I wanted to do and she was so tickled. She sent the flag home with me. I'll get that done soon.

You reckon it would be cheaper to fix the AC if it was fixed in the winter? Sounds stupid but they know you have to have it in the summer. Buy a cheap window unit, then fix the biggie in the cold months? Just a blondie thought...
Not much here this weekend, had a lot on my mind lately, did manage to purchase a new gadget though.. had a cousin needing money and she turned over her tablet thingie to me for $150... did I get a good deal? I'm not an Android person, I'm a Mac....

Letty, In Florida the prices are pretty much standard the year through on A/C repair. The most you might save is $100 from an A/C guy that really needs the work. I couldn't go a week without A/C, nevermind 3 months. I have a window unit, brand new, sitting in a box in my laundry room. That's for after a hurricane and the power get's knocked out. It's a 110v unit and will cool a room nicely. I set up a bedroom so we have a place to escape the post huricane grind. A/C, satelite T.V. and 110 power throughout the house. That is .... if the house is livable after a hurricane. The repair was worth it. I have better air flow throughout the house, it cools down quickly and it's quieter. Plus it won't freeze up in the evening like it was doing. Worth every dollar. I could have squeezed the guy a little but I got good service with a few extras thrown in. He made sure everything was done right and fixed what was not right. Plus he had years of experience. He knew exactly what he was looking at.

Tom, a flag case is something that will reveared for years to come. I have my fathers flag case hanging in my hallway with a small brass plate attached. The plate has his name, year of birth and year of death. They handed me that flag at his graveside many years ago. It's a great thought.
