Good Morning CGs!

Hopefully everyone had a nice evening and is recovering from eating too much turkey and stuffing. We went to my wife's aunt's house for dinner. Everything was nice but towards the end of the night the kids went from happy and playful to crabby and crying in the blink of an eye. Past their bedtime. That's our sign it's time to leave. Got them home, washed up and in bed and then we could relax.

I didn't overindulge myself, I was very cognizant of what I ate. I'm eating clean/healthy for the next 6 weeks or so to see if I can improve my health a bit. I did have a scoop of vanilla ice cream that was pretty good, though.

Anyone already out and about doing the black Friday thing? My wife wanted to go but since she's still in bed I don't think that's happening.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Howdy! Dinner was perfect yesterday, everything went off without a hitch. It was 55 and sunny yesterday afternoon, and by early evening, it was in the 20's and snowing lightly. The wind is howling now and the wind chill is 3 degrees. Delightful. I avoid Black Friday like the plague. But we'll get started on Christmas decorations today - seems impossible that it's time for that already.

Have a good day, Gurus!

Good Morning all. We had a nice holiday. Traveled over to PA for supper at Mom's house. Right around 6, Edge starting getting restless and we knew it was time to head home. Edge is Michelle's guide dog and he has about a 2 hour time limit when we are out, then he gets restless. Kind of like canine ADD. It comes in handy at times. Sunday we do it all over again at Michelle's house.

I'm in line at a sports store......hey no cuts asshole...!!!
waiting to buy some guns......just kidding...I am in my study watching my wife head out the driveway...she's on a mission..do not get in her way.

I did take the Grand Sport into Lincoln yesterday late to visit a client who had a hip replaced. I have known him since we were roomates in college and he and his brother farm big. He was doing fine. We had a good chat and some laughs. Then I got to drive the GS home....what a car that is....I look forward to driving it at often as I can.

I was coming home and went by wal-mart last night and it was packed. Huge parking lot jammed full and cars parked on the roads around it.....I can't think of anything I need that I would fight that kind of crowd to go get. A Corvette? Hmmmmmm....maybe.

We had a great meal yesterday but I was selective on what I ate...I selected everything....twice....thanks Brad for the stretchy pants memo...I had my sweat pants on....nice!

Enjoy Guru's...colder here today but sunny and clear....

Now that's what I call a well trained dog.

We left the house at 01:30 and were home around 07:30. Food was great and I have trained myself not to overindulge. The benefits are priceless. One of the dogs was having a stomach issue yesterday so he was heaving here and there. Nothing like cleaning up dog puke after a full day away. Gonna start decking the halls today. The vet is coming by at 01:30 to check out the pigs. One of them needs some attention.Never a dull day.

If Black Friday is about saving money, why does everybody rack up so much debt? We're not shopping today but we are going to a double estate auction tomorrow. We never know what we' will find. Taking our neighbors on both sides of us along. My wife is still buying stuff for the house since we still have room to walk around.

I heard some quote the other day that went something to the effect of "Only in America do we have a big feast to celebrate being thankful for all that we have, and then go beat the crap out of each other to get more stuff."

Morning guys...No Black Friday crap for me. I am taking the family out to Arthur Bryants to eat today. That will be fight enough for me.

We had a great turkey day feast. Both turkeys took longer than expected to cook so we didn't eat until about 2:30. That's OK, we were so full we didn't eat supper....well I didn't. And the weather was so nice even I went for a walk.

I always said I'd never do the BF thing but, I tried last night cause the 60 inch Vizio was discounted $310.

Wally's add says electronics go on sale at 10 p.m.

So I get there @ 9:30........took 5 minutes to find an open parking space (big lot).
They had one set of doors (that I was close to) marked "Exit Only"

You couldn't walk thru the isles.....you couldn't push your way thru the isles. You could get thru by taking the path of least resistance,,,,,crawling under a rack of dresses.

They has guys guarding the XBot's with a sign on them saying "Not for sale until 10:00".

So, I levered 3 Women of Walmart out of the way to get to the electronics counter, and asked about the TV (at 9:45).

"Oh, we're sold out, we only had 14 of them."

"But they aren't supposed to be sold until 10."

"Yea, I know, we gave out tickets, sorry"

My wife is on a liquid diet for the next 6 to 8 weeks. That means all the solid food in this house is mine. OMG, it's a lot of food. I'll have plenty to eat for days on end. If I make a simple meal I'll always have leftovers. It cuts back on meal prep. My wife said she'd still cook for me so that's a plus.

I am going back out to BF but, at Home D.

The batteries in my Ryobi drill are pretty sad.

It will probably be cheaper to buy new than to go back to Batteries Plus again (2-18v batteries replaced was $65 five years ago).

I got some batteries for my Ryobi on ebay - I don't recall the the price, but it was much more reasonable.

I've always avoided it like the plague.

I REALLY wasn't prepared for the amount of people in the store.

I figured all day thet this was what was going to happen.

But I did stop in at the casino across the street for my one and only Thanksgiving beer....won $20.

UltraWoman is a true professional shopper...she is in an elite group who are in the know of what is selling were and for how much....its uncanny what she knows. She was saying that a lot of stuff that is on sale today has been on sale here and there during the year and a lot of times cheaper then it is being offered now....

Sorry about you big screen Bill....but if you wait till after Christmas....you will no doubt find it cheaper somewhere......It's marketing....

We are trying to stay away from the shopping today. Wife, one daughter and granddaughters are going out to get their nails done for the wedding tomorrow.

I've got the youngest grandson with me. Still going to go to Arthur Bryants for lunch.

I normally have a 20 minute shopping limit - per year.

No big deal about the TV, they will be on sale before Xmas, I had it figured that way anyhow.

I just got back from HD, no drill but I did pick up a Gorilla Stand for $17. Pretty neat, alum, folding, 20 inch height and 3 foot long by 12 or 18in.

Perfect for working on a pickup motor, etc.

Edge truly is a great dog. He is from Seeing Eye and is a cross between a Yellow Lab and a Golden Retriever. He has a bit of Kleptomaniac in him as well. He is 5 years old and still is an overgrown puppy. It is amazing how he knows when he is working and when he isn't.

In the past year or so, he has taken to walking Michelle all over the neighborhood. They had a couple of "where the hell am I incidents". But now she lets him go where he wants on their exercise strolls.

Maybe I will post a picture later when I get home from "work".

Giving your cheesy, artificial tree a good fluffing can make it look somewhat less cheesy and artificial. And what could be more rewarding than accidentally bumping into the bulb that was making 4 branches go dark? Joy to the world!

German Shepards are the best.

A bunch of years ago the neighbors had a Yellow Lab/Golden Retriever klepto. I was trying to install a sprinkler system, the dog would either nuzzel me to the point of not being able to work in the trench or would steal the pvc fittings and play "catch me".

Cool dog , spent more time at my house than at home.

Dang after eating BBQ at world famous Arthur Bryant, i had to come back and lay down with the 4 year old grandson and get him to take a nap. A tough job, but someone had to do it. Not sure how long he slept, but I had a good hour.

Two SIL and daughters are putting up Christmas lights up. Good, I've done it the last few years and I just didn't want to climb up on the roof this year.

Sucks about the tv, Bill. I was reading an article the other day though that said Black Friday is not the best time to buy a tv. They said you will get good deals on the cheap, low end stuff, but the best deals on big name brand stuff is the week before super bowl.

Not a big deal. The 60 was actually about 4 inches too wide for where I want to put it, a 55 will be better.

The 60 was Vizio's top of the line 60. Regular price is like $990.

The 55's will be on sale before Xmas.

Been in the market for a 50" (would fit the cherry wall unit I built 2 yrs. ago) ever since I started reading this thread. Did some research and pricing and thought about waiting for BF or Boxing day to actually purchase....
Was in (my Local Canadian) Costco a few days ago and came across a "demo model for sale" and bought it. It was $499.00 and has a great Costco warranty. 50" LG Plasma.
We're delighted with it.

And BTW Bill. I'm with you on 20 min. shopping time / yr.
I am totally NOT a "shopper".

Few years ago I visited my brother for a few days....morning came and he said "lets go...I need a new pair of shoes"....as God is my witness I went to Eight shoe stores with him humming and hewing over his purchase decisions....ended back at the FIRST (fricking) store and FINALLY buying his fricking shoes....SEVEN hours later! I was totally dumbfounded!

Turned out ok though cause he gave me much beer later.

I wouldn't buy shoes or pants online. I have to see how they fit and feel. That's just me. I'm also in the hate shopping camp. I go to one or two stores, find what I need and I'm done. I am always in fashion because I'm a blue jeans and t-shirt guy. My black suit that's about 11 years old now, serves it's function for weddings, funerals and more formal type affairs (that I try to avoid). Funny thing about when I go to a grocery store, after about 10 minutes instore, I get a deer in the headlights look on my face. My wife tries to talk to me or ask me something and I have to come out of the ozone to respond. A few of my friends report the same thing happens to them. La, la, la, la, la, la.

I usually buy Reebok's, their sizes are always the same.
I bought the last 2 pairs on line. Plus there's way more choices and much better pricing on line.

I wouldn't buy regular shoes on line......nut I don;t buy regular shoes.

Grocery stores are easy, get in the car at 7, wake up at the donut shop, go in the store at 7:30.....there's no one in there.....get home at 8:15...wake up again.....then DNBFS
