New 2 Guru - Tim - READ THIS THREAD!!!!
Guest_
Hello all. New here found this site via a post from your illustrious Grand Imperial Pooh-Bah on some other forum

As I know all newbies are required to post pics and a brief story so below are some pics for you to enjoy.

The car is a 1994 Brickyard 400 Festival car used in the inaugural Brickyard 400 to introduce NASCAR drivers Harry Gant and Lake Speed to the packed crowd at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The car was then used for a VIP lap and then Mayor Stephen Goldsmith and his wife rode on the back of the car.

There were 25 of these originally sent to the IMS for use on the track, 13 Torch Red and 12 Black. One is known totaled and only 11 of the remaining cars have been located.

Looking forward to learning all I can from the knowledge base here!!

Tim

Welcome to the site!

Beautiful car and very cool history!!!

Do you drive it a lot or is it more of a fair weather/weekend toy? Take it to a lot of shows? Any modifications or personal touches?

We look forward to having you contribute to the forum.

Matthew

No modifications car is all original except for the tires/fluids and has only 36k miles so it is more of a weekend toy. I'm not afraid to take it out in the rain, and I try to get to a few shows/parades when I get the chance. Haven't won anything yet but I'm sure there will be a first time.

The C4 appreciation is growing, so it's only a matter of time before people realize how nice your car really is!

Thanks for the replies. Now let me tell you how I came about this car.

In late 2011 I had to sell my original '94 Torch Red coupe as I was leaving on a 7 month deployment to the Arabian Gulf with the assurance of getting another when I returned. My wonderful wife decided to do some shopping while I was gone and with the help of my father found this car for sale in Florida. She bought the car 3 months into the deployment and kept it a complete secret for the last 4 months. The day I returned happened to be the same day as my Corvette Clubs monthly meeting. My wife, kids, neighbor and the entire club were waiting to surprise me at the meeting.

Ever seen a big reveal on Overhaulin'? Yea it was kinda like that!!

I may or may not have had something to do with it. In any case, let's blame BillH since he's the oldest. For deletion corrections email bogus.

I've actually learned that of the original 25 only 24 are left and of that only 11 are said to be in their original "dress". Most of them had the decals removed by dealers then sold as "regular" convertibles. They are identifiable by VIN.

Which means that 12 cars are floating about and the owners have no idea what they have.
