Bun dé!

On a morning 37 years ago today, I washed up my '70 Grand Prix in anticipation of the festivities that would occur later in the day (naturally it rained, since I had washed the car):

Resized Image

I have made an executive decision - since it should be warm enough over the next couple days to melt the remaining snow, I'm gonna bring the Vette home after work tomorrow. There are rumors of 60's and 70's over the weekend, so I'm itching for it.

Have a good day, Gurus!

The Florida I love has been here the past couple of days. Well, at least the mornings and evenings. Cool, comfortable temps but it gets hot by mid day. I'm going over to my sons place. He's been painting the picket fence. I have to move him through to the finish so he can dedicate all his time to finding a job. I'm jumping into the job search with him. He didn't ask me to. I'm just doing it . That way I can say stuff like. Did you know xyz was hiring? I see that abc has a few openings. Whatever I have to do can wait. I have nothing pressing. I'm on a mission. He can do it on his own, he's just too damned slow. I can provide some fatherly input. Once a dad, always a dad.

Good morning gang.

More rain here today temps in the mid 40's. Should warm up later in the week.

Lets hope your son finds a job soon Tommy.

Word of the Day Wednesday, April 24, 2013

porpoise \ PAWR-puhs \, verb;

1.to move forward with a rising and falling motion.

2.(of a speeding motorboat) to leap clear of the water after striking a wave.

3.(of a torpedo) to appear above the surface of the water.

noun:

1.any of several small, gregarious cetaceans of the genus Phocoena, usually blackish above and paler beneath, and having a blunt, rounded snout, especially the common porpoise, P. phocoena, of both the North Atlantic and Pacific.

2.any of several other small cetaceans, as the common dolphin, Delphinus delphis.

Origin:
Porpoise entered English in the fifteenth century from the Old French porc + peis literally meaning "pork fish." It is thought that this name was given to the marine animal because its snout resembled a pig snout.

Congrats to the newly weds! Ours will be 38 in August. And congrats to FINALLY getting to pull the Vette out of storage. Our weatherman guarantees us this is the last of the cold weather for this spring.....I'll believe it when I experience it.

That is a sweet 66, very unique with the LT5. Love the color too. I'm thinking the better choice is an LS series engine though. Lighter in weight, makes as much power, easier parts availability and cheaper. But the WOW factor when you open the hood has to go to the LT5. That engine is just awesome to look at.

Been in meetings this morning since 7:30. More bullcrap, and waste of time, but what the heck, it kept me from having to see my morning MSers....now that makes me happy.

We had a light dusting of snow this morning. But it is 32 and should be gone soon. The old was mostly gone. We are to be in the 40s today and the 60s by tomorrow and the weekend. Is this what your Grandson would say?

Hilarious!

Wow - congrats on the newlyweds!
I'm impressed - all of yous with nearly 40 years of wedded bliss.... hmmm dejavu - think I've said this before - my two marriages and one live in don't add up to that, then I think Tommy or Bill said it's not possibly since I'm only 29....
That's something you just don't see anymore. A body shop friend of mine and his wife just celebrated their 40th. Makes my head spin.
Rain due here today still, and the temp dropped from 75 or so to 45 this morning, high of 60 today. Thank you all whoever sent me this mess. But - spring will be back this weekend and once again I'll have my Vette out. Guess I'm blessed - I don't have to put mine up for winter hibernation...

Not yet Marcus.....As it turns out, they were using us to find a coach. If they found a coach who would fit in one of the positions, then that person would be "non renewed". They were holding their cards until the last minute.

Well, word is, they hired a basketball coach Monday. He is, surprise-surprise, a Phys Ed teacher, and one of the three of us who were not "offered" our contracts is a PE teacher. So, word is, they are still going to offer all of us our contracts anyway and try to find the new coach some other "work".

The three of us who were "non renewed" account for 109 years of service TO THIS SCHOOL DISTRICT. All three of us came here fresh from college and stayed here our entire careers. Then the school board, most of who we had as students, chooses to reward us, for our years of service, by treating us that way....Now they have said, we;ve heard from and informed source, that they (the board) would like to show us that they DO appreciate our dedication and years of service.

I heard that on the radio this morning - I was amazed to hear that he was 95, never thought of him as being that old. I have the same thoughts about myself until I look in the mirror.

At least he didn't die of embarrassment, like this person:

An attorney arrived home late, after a very tough day trying to get a Stay of Execution. His last minute plea for clemency to the governor had failed and he was feeling worn out and depressed.

As soon as he walked through the door at home, his wife started on him about, 'What time of night to be getting home is this? Where Have you been? Dinner is cold and I'm not reheating it'. And on and on and on.

Too shattered to play his usual role in this familiar ritual, he poured himself a shot of whiskey and headed off for a long hot soak in the bathtub, pursued by the predictable sarcastic remarks as he dragged himself up the stairs.

While he was in the bath, the phone rang. The wife answered and was told that her husband's client, James Wright, had been granted a Stay of Execution after all. Wright would not be hanged tonight.

Finally realizing what a terrible day he must have had, she decided To go upstairs and give him the good news.

As she opened the bathroom door, she was greeted by the sight of her husband, bent over naked, drying his legs and feet.

'They're not hanging Wright tonight,' she said.

He whirled around and screamed, 'FOR THE LOVE OF GOD WOMAN, DON'T YOU EVER STOP?!'
