Good morning gang.

Looks like it should be a nice day today. Highs in the low 60's and partly cloudy.

Not much else going on here.

Word of the Day Tuesday, September 16, 2014

ablactate\ ab-LAK-teyt \, verb;

1. to wean.

Origin:

Ablactate entered English in the 1700s and combines the Latin prefix ab- meaning "from" or "away," and lac meaning "milk."

Today is NATIONAL PLAY-DOH DAY

National Play-Doh Day is celebrated annually on September 16th. Play-Doh inventor Joe McVicker actually sold it originally as a wallpaper cleaner but the world had another use for his product. Play-Doh was inducted into the Toy Hall of Fame in 1998.

Here is an excerpt from the Hall of Fame induction found at http://www.toyhalloffame.org/toys/play-doh

Play-Doh modeling compound started out as wallpaper cleaner. Joe McVicker learned from a teacher that kids usually found modeling clay too hard to manipulate. Discovering that the squishy cleaning product he manufactured could substitute, McVicker shipped some to the school. After teachers and kids raved, he offered to supply the product to all Cincinnati schools. More rave reviews followed. McVicker showcased the modeling clay at a national education convention in 1955, and word spread to Macy’s and Marshall Field’s. By 1956, the wallpaper cleaner had become Play-Doh. A year later, the manufacturer offered a softer Play-Doh in primary colors. Kids mixed these to make other colors, ending inevitably in brown. Captain Kangaroo endorsed Play-Doh, and so did Miss Frances from Ding Dong School. Play-Doh Pete appeared on product cans in 1960. The Fun Factory let kids extrude the material into interesting shapes, making mock hair, colorful spaghetti, and pretend ice cream that wouldn’t melt. In the 1980s, Play-Doh expanded its palette to eight colors. Later versions sparkled with glitter, glowed in the dark, or smelled like shaving cream. Recent estimates say that kids have played with 700 million pounds of Play-Doh.

So go find a can of Play-Doh and let your imagination run wild again.

NATIONAL CINNAMON RAISIN BREAD DAY

National Cinnamon Raisin Bread Day is celebrated annually on September 16th. This bread is often one of the most requested in bakeries across the country. Naturally sweet, the aroma created from baking this bread will make anyone drool.

I've been working muscles that haven't seen much action lately. My hands, arms, legs and feet are all telling me I've been slacking. Swinging picks. throwing shovels, cutting limbs, pulling weeds, cutting grass and weed whacking will do that to ya. The cutting grass and weed eating is the easy part. Today is nursery day. Up, up and away ........... There's work to be done.

Howdy! Golf was every bit as mediocre as I imagined yesterday, but at least the weather was halfway decent. Looks nice and sunny out there today and should be a smidgen warmer.

Tommy, I recently got a lacrosse ball (a hard rubber ball about the size of a tennis ball). Used between your back and a chair or wall, it'll find lots of knots in your muscles.

Limber up, Gurus!

Ya I'm loose.....I find that hot water is the key for me after a long day of throwing seed bags....or watching others throw seed bags while I watch....bad back you know... Everyone should have a hot tub.....the world would be a better place....they should also have a big swedish lady named Gwen with blond pigtales and wearing a Vikings T-shirt to give a brutal massage to loosen us up.....there would be no more wars......

Today more garage work....my wife was out looking around and all of a sudden now has plans for a new shower in the bathroom.....funny how that works.....I will post a pic of the shop soon....

Let's go gettum Guru's......it's Miami week in Huskerland....

Good Morning CGs!

At RR#2s gymnastics class. Grandpa tagged along today to watch. Might have some lunch at the train restaurant once this is over. Then we have some errands and tasks. Never a dull moment.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Marcus, which shifter did you end up with buying? Was it the "core"? I like the idea of the new shifter, but like the stock appearance/shiftknob. There is a "Core" that utilizes the stock shifter.

This one looks like it might be what you are looking for... You might call them to ask about shifter height as compared to the stock shifter....but this one is set up for the stock knob.....the actual workings of the shifter would be just like the one I have....go to the detailed description....

I'd love to take a nap but the list is long. If I wasn't sitting in front of the computer I might not feel as tired. (yawn)

Happy Tuesday...
Beautiful day here, started off cloudy but clearing. Came into the office today to a pile that wasn't here when I left. A trailer, a huge Dodge van, and now a lady that owns a turf grass company wants her Mac truck wrapped. Still have tweaking to do on the motor home wrap. another one with a small plane is in line as well. where'd all this big stuff come from?
At home have a pet calendar in the works still, worked on it Sunday then when saved it something went wrong and all I did that day didn't get saved. REasons for everything I suppose.

I guess it's based on statistics...About 100 people actually live in Idaho. If you got cut off by 20 of them, that would be 20%. In Chicago, I get cut off 20 times per day. Based on the population, that's .000000016%. Simple statistics. And numbers don't lie

An Italian doctor says: "In Italy, medicine is so advanced that we cut off a man's testicles, put them on another man, and in 6 weeks, he is looking for work."

The Dutch doctor says: "That's nothing, in Holland we take part of a brain, put it in another man, and in 4 weeks he is looking for work."

The Canadian doctor says: "Gentlemen, we take half a heart from a man, put it in another's chest, and in 2 weeks he is looking for work."

The American doctor laughs: "You all are so far behind us. Five years ago, we took a man with no brains, no heart, and no balls and made him President. Now, the whole country is looking for work!"
