Good morning gang.

I'll be short this morning. I'm posting from my phone. Because my computer at work has no network connection. Seems we had an update last night that didn't go so well.

We have rain on and off today with a cool down taking affect. Low temps today and through the weekend.

I will post my usual things later today.

Good Morning CGs!

Yes, it is my day off. Yes, I am up at 5:50 in the morning. Wife had me get up to take RR#2 to the bathroom and that was it for me. Wide awake.

It started raining here around 7:30 last night and apparently it hasn't stopped since then. Not just sprinkles, either, some pretty significant rainfall. I was supposed to go to RR#1s school today to chaperone at the diabetes fundraiser walk but the rain contingency plan was walk in the gym and the parent volunteers aren't necessary. Guess I will run around and do some errands.

Good luck with the computer, Mike.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Hidey-ho! It's a balmy 46, and that's about as good as it's gonna get. And windy and drizzly to boot. But at least the weekend is in sight.

Enjoy your Friday, Gurus!

Fall clean up and maintenance is in full swing with plenty left to do. Yesterday was a mulch day and today is more of the same. We have some big mulch areas. Yesterday I spread 85 25 gallon buckets of mulch. Have about that many more to do today. 85 buckets fills up the box truck and an S-10. (The S-10 can haul 12 at a time.) The good thing is once that it's done I get a 6 month break before I have to do it again. I'm trying to hit everything hard now so I can have an easier November and December. I have the house nursery to clean up, wash the house, carport and patio down, pressure wash the walkways and tortoise pen area and more. That's enough to keep me busy for awhile right there. Then I'll think about what to do next. People used to ask me "Don't you think you'll get bored in retirement?" Simple answer, NO! Funny thing. People always ask me if I can come over and help them with there place. Simple answer. NO! Have a gureat day gurus. There's work to be done

Hello, BillH.

What?

Organizing my fall/winter maintenance list,

In process - design, build & install a foldable tire rack, work bench, fuel jug rack, tie down hangers and door cabinet in Gary's trailer.

Remove Caldwell racecar from my shop, it's taking up too much room.

Build race engine for my Crossle Formula Ford.

Sell the Crossle to Gary. Spend 40 hours on setup and installing the new driver before the Feb. licensing school.

Build a 1967 Corvette chassis,

Put about 40 hours into the Formula Atlantic on setup and learning the data acquisition.

Property maintenance - Wait for Nature's wind rake.

House maintenance - Put beer in the fridge.

Ok looks like the computer geeks got the problem fixed. It sucked because it took down the whole site.

Anyways on with todays stuff.

Word of the Day Friday, October 03, 2014

hempy \ HEM-pee \, adjective;

1. Scot. mischievous; often in trouble for mischief.

Origin:

Hempy comes from the late Middle English word hempi , which meant "made of hemp." This is thought to be a dark joke about one being fit for hanging by a hemp rope, and, by attenuation, mischievous.

Today is NATIONAL TECHIES DAY

National Techies Day is celebrated annually on October 3.

Techies Day was launched in 1999 by Techies.com and it was co-founded by CNET Networks. The day was created to encourage students to learn more about a career in technology and to address the nationwide need for qualified technology workers and to recognize the contributions that tech professionals make to education.

There is always a need for skilled technology professionals.

Take a “techie” out to lunch today!

Happy National Techies Day!

WORLD SMILE DAY

World Smile Day is celebrated on the first Friday in the month of October every year. The idea of World Smile Day was coined and initiated by Harvey Ball, a commercial artist from Worcester, Massachusetts. Harvey Ball is known to have created the Smiley Face in 1963. The World’s first World Smile Day was held in the year 1999 and has been held annually since.

After Harvey died in 2001, the “Harvey Ball World Smile Foundation” was created to honour his name and memory. The slogan of the Smile Foundation is “improving this world, one smile at a time.” The Foundation continues as the official sponsor of World Smile Day each year.

Unfortunately, too many people see only the need for "techies" and have forgotten that this country is founded on skilled labor. Not enough young people are going in to the field of skilled trades such as machinists, welders, mechanics, etc.

Went grocery shopping the other day and the meat department had some deals we couldn't refuse. One was marked down cracked pepper encrusted smoked bacon. Another was St Louis Style precooked barbecue sauced ribs. These actually are excellent. Better than restaurant ribs. I meant to go back and buy out what they had but ...... forgot. Another deal was on pork loin tenderloins. They were all at prices we couldn't say no to. Never mind the fact that we have plenty of meat in the freezer. Now we just have more. Eating meat is something we love albeit a guilty pleasure. We love animals but they taste so dayum good.

In yesterdays nightly news there was a story about a hot 32 y/o and an ok 24 y/o teacher that were bopping a 16 y/o football player. They even had a threesome with him. I'm sure that boy is scarred for life.

Interesting, the Dickey's here has really mediocre bbq and worst service of any bbq in Reno.

the internet is just full of complaints on the food there.

Evening guys...it was a quick game this evening. We had them down 26-0 in the first quarter. Then coasted to a 64-0 plastering. Good for the kids, longer homecoming dance. And good for me, I only missed the first two innings of the Royals game.
