Good morning gang.

Chilly morning here temps in the low teens but should warm to the mid 20's.

Yesterday ended real well for me. I was given a verbal offer for a job from the company that my job is being outsourced to. Needless to say I'm happy with the offer. It also relieves a lot of stress we've been having.

I like the hair cut punishment idea. That sometimes goes a lot further than a but whipping or time out. Peer pressure goes a long ways.

On with today.

Word of the day is tenebrific.

Today is NATIONAL WEAR RED DAY

National Wear Red Day is observed annually on February 6th.

Heart disease and stroke kill one in three women, but are 80 percent preventable according to Go Red for Women’s official website.

The campaign asks people to do three things:
◦Wear red to show your support for saving women’s lives
◦Show us how you Go Red on your social media profiles using #GoRed
◦Donate to help raise funds for awareness and research

Go to https://www.goredforwomen.org/wearredday/ for more information.

NATIONAL LAME DUCK DAY

On February 6 we observe National Lame Duck Day, an “unofficial” holiday, that is not about a duck with an injury. It is a day that recognizes and celebrates elected officials who are about to leave their term in office. Their term has ended either by choice or because they were not re-elected.

“Lame duck (politics)

According to Wikipedia, a lame duck is an elected official who is approaching the end of his or her tenure, and especially an official whose successor has already been elected

The status can be due to:

* Having lost a re-election bid
* Choosing not to seek another term at the expiration of the current term
* A term limit which keeps the official from running for that particular office again
* The abolishment of the office, which must nonetheless be served out until the end of the official’s term.

Because there were some servants that no longer felt accountable to their constituents and took advantage of their position during the long lame duck session, the 20th Amendment to the United States Constitution, also known as the Lame Duck Amendment, was passed to shorten the length of the lame duck term. This amendment went into effect on February 6th, 1933.

So what do we do today?

* If you are a Lame Duck: Reflect back on what you have learned, and on your successes and triumphs.

* If you know a Lame Duck: Say thank you, give recognition for their success and support for their future.

* If you are not a Lame Duck or do not know a Lame Duck: Enjoy today in everything you do and share the information you learned about Lame Duck Day.

NATIONAL LAME DUCK DAY HISTORY

According to Wikipedia, “In U.S. politics, the period between (presidential and congressional) elections in November and the inauguration of officials early in the following year is commonly called the lame duck period. In regard to the presidency, a president is a lame-duck after a successor has been elected, and during this time the outgoing president and president-elect usually embark on a transition of power.”

February 6th was chosen as National Lame Duck Day, an “unofficial” National holiday, as this was the day in 1933 that the 29th Amendment went into effect.

Howdy! Hard to believe Friday is here already - no complaints. Starting to warm up a little, too - supposed to be in the 30's tomorrow. Gonna have to hit the tenebrific tanning joint again this weekend.

That is great news, Mike!

Enjoy your Friday, Gurus!

Good Morning CGs!

Well last night I got home and put the second coat of paint on the wall so that's done. This morning I got up and fixed the pipe that was leaking. It was just a threaded connection and surprisingly came apart easily this time. I think the heat from the mapp torch caused some of the thread sealant to soften and leak out/shift. So that is all cleaned up, redoped, and put back together.

Have to head off to HD and get some mortar.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Marcus, you know how it works. If you have it you won't need it.

Hello everybody. Typical day today. Nice weather. Worked in the yard, mowed the grass and had to change the lawnmower lower belt. At least I had one so I didn't have to get one. Wait a minute. That disproves what I just wrote.

"If you have it you won't need it." It's good to have the stuff you have for when you need it.

I saw a guy on a motorcycle on my way home today. It was 26 degrees - I imagine the breeze was "refreshing".

Congrats, Marcus!

He had a helmet, but I couldn't see what was under it. Probably a headsicle.
