I put in an aftermarket crank scraper, not great but it will work for now.

The damn Scat Nodular Iron crank cost $899.00.

I'll be setting the max. valve lift today, pain in the ass because the rocker arm pads (that contact the valve stems) have to be ground at the front or rear to change the valve lift. This is done as part of the blueprint and to keep the lift below the max. legal limit.

Hope to hit 106 horsepower but 108 would be nice.

Throw on the drysump pump and fuel pump and will get it in the car today.

Engine install is 45 minutes.

I'll keep this driver at 6,800, pretty much above that, the power drops off.
The thing is that it will run a 1/2 hour race and never drop below 5,300.

Also, Ford began casting these blocks again, I can run over to Summit and pick one up.

I'd have to look in the rule book again, it's basically a stock motor, not much you can do except deck the block, the rules don't allow anything else. And the engine rules are very close to what they were in the 1960's.
Probably around 9:1.

The big thing is to get the valve lift equal and within .001 of the legal max (.356 Int and .358 Ex.) and all of them equal.

There's a lot of guess work when you grind the rocker arm pads to change the lift. And every time you grind the rockers (even if it's just one) the rocker shaft hast to be pulled and dissembled.

I made up a 3 page build sheet for the blueprints quite a few years ago.

Both are weight limited to stock weight. Balancing is allowed.

The cylinder squirt hole in the rods can be closed (which I do have done)

The Scat crank is much stronger than stock (should be for $899).

Forged pistons were approved 4 years ago but are identical dimensionally to the stock ones. 4 of them cost $520 plus $150 for oversized rings (so you can set the gaps).

Forged rods (Crower with ARP bolts) $550 are legal but identical to stock.

Flywheel lightened to 15.5 lbs.

Pertronix is legal, vacuum advance removed, points mounting plate locked (using a Sun machine).

2 barrel Weber (modified)

Porting & polishing legal if you stay under the legal port opening sizes.

Crank scrapers and smoothing the block bottom for oil return are legal. The oil pan holds less that 1/2 quart.

Using these better components has doubled the engine life to around 40 hours before a rebuild.

Sounds great & a lot of fun... Except for setting up your valve train geometry & lift......That takes time with shaft mounted rockers!

Nice factory support

As far as I know there's only ONE builder that can make the most HP

at least that's the reason they're giving to allow Honda Fit engine

Guess the other 5 or 6 guys that build winning motors are really worried.

That's hardly the reason for the Honda.

Got the engine in and bolted up in 15 minutes.

Built all new hoses for the dry sump, probably fire it up tomorrow.

Thanks David, these would be a pretty simple build for you or Wil.

We still have a bunch to do on the car before March 20.

And I have a fuel pump (in the fuel cell) to change on the Atlantic and rewire the harness. There's a lot of disassembly to get the pump out.
