Good Morning CGs!

Exactly what I said the other day, Marcus. Time is flying. Had a bunch more rain yesterday. I'd like to get the grass cut, but it might be too wet. Luckily it hasn't grown much with no sun the past week....

Gotta stop over at mom and dad's house and do some work. The hallway closet door sticks shut. I have checked it out and not enough clearance. I have to pull the door and shave the edge 1/8", then redo the hinge pockets and rehang it. Not tough, just time consuming.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

"OH WHAT A BEAUTIFUL MORNING---" SUNNY, COOL, THE CHEROKEES ARE HAPPY, EXCEPT FOR THE ONES THAT WANTED A NEW CHIEF.

NO COON THIS MORNING, JUST A BIG 'OL POSSUM. I DUMPED HIM OUT AND HE WADDLED OFF. THEY ARE NOT DESTRUCTIVE LIKE COONS ARE SO I DIDN'T EXILE HIM.

CHANGED MY MIND: ALL CONFEDERATE FLAGS SHOULD BE REMOVED.

Hidey-ho! I am finding the clock to be much more pleasant when the alarm doesn't ring. I haven't set any sleep-in records, but haven't really been applying myself. I have golf this afternoon, so I am not planning to tackle the pavers I brought home yesterday (small project). I may take a few laps around the estate with the mower, though.

Matt, try laying a 2x4 up against the door jamb on the latch side and give it a whack with a BFH - that may give the door enough clearance.

Have a good day, yawlz!

Forget the hinge pocket. Shave the door.

Times flying and I love it, at least over the next several months. Can't wait for mid October to get here. Gave the pond a good vacuuming and brushing yesterday. Friggin hot and humid. Made a delivery this morning, back home goofing off but I have to put some teak oil on tables we picked up recently. We're keeping two and selling two. Then I'll either spray some round up and weed or start all the cars and boat. Have a big bash on the 4th so I have a ton of work around the house to do and we have the big party on the 19th of July. I think that one will be a record breaking crowd here at the house. We have a band coming too. Everyone plus has been invited.

We have retained our friend Graham Wood Drout and his band, Iko Iko plus a special guest singer. Gonna be a killer party. I'm gonna be busy playing host and guest of honor.

Well, I've actually caught up with everything I was hoping to get done before vacation. As a matter of fact, I'm going to try and fit another little job in that I told the client might be September. That should make them happy.

Definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Maybe you can line up a few more clients while your on vacation.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I fixed the door. The problem is that the entire jam was warped/shifted. Similar to Tommy's mind and sense of humor....a little shifted, a lot warped. The remedy (for the door, not Tommy) was to remove said door, removed hinges and handle, and run it through the table saw to shave approximately 3/16"-1/4" off the hinged side. Then I had to use wood chisels (I do not own a router) to make new hinge recesses on the side that I shaved. Otherwise there would be no extra clearance on the door because the amount I shaved was only slightly larger than the hinge recess itself. Couldn't shave the handle side, because I can't move the lockset...see? I was going to have TB come and do it, but he kept mumbling something about being retired and his rectory was hurting. Go figure.

Letty, I see s frosty beverage your future.

Here is my afternoon project. I oiled up the teak tables with Watco Teak Oil Finish. A couple of weeks ago I assembled 3 of the tables, one with parts Sue had cut because it was incomplete. Prices were one for $300 assembled, two for $250 unassembled and the one with the missing parts was a buck and a half. Here is the fruit of my efforts. Two have been sold to a couple of doctors that are clients of ours. They do special favors for us in an emergency clinic they own. Will sell to them at cost. The fixed one and the one they don't take will be ours. Here are the pics.

Brian, sorry for the loss of your mom's friend.

Wow, Tommy, I was thinking the tables were like end tables too. Those are sweet.

Matt, I've done MANY doors just like you did that one. With a good sharp chisel and a keen eye it can be done pretty fast. My rectory is feeling much better today!

Letty, it feels good to finish big jobs like that.

I finished up two jobs completely today. Both were not expected to be done for at least a month. The one I said would be in September, was totally surprised that I was able to get it done already. I even got to go on a short bike ride this evening.

Back to the tables. The two sleeves fold in for storage and the ends push together to make a smaller table. That's what makes it even better. They will probably be used to eat on since the buffet line will be in the dining room, kitchen and back patio. I know chicken quarters are on the menu. They always are when your feeding the masses. Standard hot weather, summer foodstuffs will also appear as well as a mountain of desserts. I pray it doesn't rain the day of the party. Maybe GRIS can convince the local natives to do a little long distance anti rain dance for me. Rain or shine the show will go on.
