Good Morning CGs!

Last night was fun for the family. My sister, BIL, niece, and mom and dad came over. I swam in the pool with the kids for about an hour and a half. Dad got in for a bit as did my sister. It was a nice time. Kids were finally cold and we had to pull them out, they didn't want to leave. After that they played and watched movies while the grown ups talked. It was a good night. Kids will get to play again today while I'm at work. After that we have a family wedding from the wife's side to attend. That should be a good time, as well.

Picked up some seafoam last night but didn't get a chance to put it in the car. Maybe Sunday night.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

It's been fun hearing Matt and his offspring growing up here on The Guru. Matt lets little things slip, like "After that they played and watched movies while the grown ups talked." That doesn't mean Matt is alone in this. As the old codgers slip out of middle ages and move into the later years they also start relaying more age appropriate material, like "I have a doctors appointment later in the morning". Sometimes GRIS' musings offer a glimmer of hope for the future of us all and vetteblondie keeps a woman's touch. Bills project(s), tee's parade of projects, Brad's link offerings and Marcus' input from the children of the corn, somehow this widespread network of people from around the nation gives us little something everyday to make our mundane day just a little more interesting. There's a big world out there and we all have a little part in. Go forth and prosper. Get off the couch Brad and everybody, laugh a little. As we all know, laughter is the best medicine.

Hidey-ho!

Good advice, Tommy! It's raining right now, but it's supposed to clear up and warm up big time this afternoon. I'm gonna make a pilgrimage to Wisconsin to stock up on New Glarus beer, then later this afternoon we're going to a friend's to swim and BBQ, probably not at the same time.

We enjoyed the Justin Hayward show last night - I actually felt "young" in comparison to a lot of the crowd. It was just him, an excellent young guitarist named Mike Dawes, and a gal who played keys and did some backup vocals - no drums. They did an admirable job with the Moody Blues tunes, and some of Justin's solo stuff, including some new material that I liked. Mike Dawes played a few of his own tunes to start the show - his style is a bit like Tommy Emmanuel, very entertaining. Here's a vid I found of him:

Have a great day, yawlz!

On our recent cruise both Sue and I were each awarded a free interior cabin on a cruise to be taken before 12/31/15. Having no choice we booked on The Carnival Glory 12/12/15 with 5 shipmates we met on this past cruise. We get to cruise together plus make a few new friends to boot. Invited mother and her bf to join us but if she can't go a sis and Bil will fill in for them. Sue has a room with a guest and I have a room with a guest. We've been given more cruises than we have time and money to take. I hate to let FREE slip away. Actually we have to pay port charges, taxes, travel insurance and gratuities but even then it's less than $250 a head for a one week cruise. As they say in Jamaica .... No Problem Mon!

We're going on The Glory

Holy Moly keep that bug spray away from my GS.....I never knew that....once again the Guru has come through.......thanks....

Speaking of the Children of the Corn there is a small revival meeting this afternoon in Lincoln where 95,000 of our closest friends will be gathering to bring on another season of Husker Football.......yes......now we don't have to pretend to be happy anymore we really can be.......going to be hot but that will not stem the red tides as we all gather by the river........BYU will be the opponent and they are no push over having the type of quarter back and big receivers that has given us fits for years. Also the is our head Coach Mike Rileys first game and you know how that can sometimes go.......Hold onto your hats its going to be a good one Husker fans.......

I'm taking the GS in and picking up UBoy and then getting some chow at a tailgate put on by a corn seed company........oh yeah.......

Tommy the Huskers will be in your country to play Miami in a couple of weeks......get your red Husker stuff so you can go to the game......

Looks like quite a ship, Tommy! Those things are amazing - hell, just the ropes they use to moor them are unreal.

Have fun, Marcus! I watched a good part of the Goofers' game Thursday night - the defense is OK but our QB is atrocious. Not good.

Speaking of har:

A man lost an arm when his golf cart rolled over on him on a down slope.

He became very depressed because he loved to play golf.

One day in his despair, he decided to commit suicide and end it all.

He got on an elevator and went to the top of a building to jump off.

He was standing on the ledge looking down and saw this man down on the sidewalk skipping along, whooping and kicking up his heels.

He looked closer and saw that this man didn't have any arms at all.

He started thinking, "What am I doing up here feeling sorry for myself? I still have one good arm to do things with.

He thought, "There goes a man with no arms skipping down the sidewalk so happy, and going on with his life."

He hurried down to the sidewalk and caught up with the man with no arms.

He told him how glad he was to see him because he lost one of his arms and felt useless and was going to kill himself.

He thanked him for saving his life and said he knew he could make it with one arm if the guy could go on with no arms.

The man with no arms began dancing and whooping and kicking up his heels again.

He asked, "Why are you so happy anyway?"

He said, "I'm NOT happy. My balls itch."

Heart-warming stories like this just bring a tear to my eyes.

Well Tommy, that was almost poetic

Saw the family after work today. My uncle also drove up from Indy to say hello. He mentioned he'll be in Minnesota coming up for an HVAC related conference of some nature (that's his business). I didn't know Minnesota had a need for air conditioning. Heaters yes, AC...no?

Tommy, next time you have some free cruise cabins to give away, keep your friends at the Guru in mind. I'm sure Andy could run a give away or two....

Enjoy the cruise Tommy. That ship looks much nicer than the ones I was made to cruised on in the Marine Corps.

Spent most of the day working on the race car. Carbs back on and its running good. Fits on the new trailer great... Exhaust is no where near hitting. I do stillhave do a little welding repair where it tore the rear hanger off last time but that can wait a few days.

Got to decide where to take Elsie for dinner.

Hey guys...up early and in the kitchen doing some electrical work Then out to the shop to fit the drawer boxes. Rosie comes out and tells me that the AC unit is sitting on the front porch....they delivered it today, freaking cool. So I spent most of the afternoon installing the AC, it is bringing the temps down in the shop. Tomorrow I guess we'll texture the ceiling.

Got to go to church.

The coaches ran stupid plays with less than 2 minutes to go when all they needed was a first down to win it.

A couple pictures of the progress.

#1 GS installing underlayment to bring cabinets up to "normal" height, something we didn't do when we put the tile down a few years back. And I am doing some of the dreaded plumbing.

The kitchen is wide open without any cabinets

I still have a lot of plumbing to do. Tomorrow I need to climb into the crawl space and put new hot water line to the dishwasher and re-route the RO system water line.
