Morning guys...I got pretty busy yesterday and didn't make it back to see what was going on with you,

Coffee makers; I always liked the coffee that I got at #1s house. Makes single cups, you load your beans and water and makes it 'on demand'. Great coffee. I finally asked her about it (I knew it wasn't cheap), and she said "It's expensive." I said, knowing in my heart that if she said expensive it must be EXPENSIVE, "4, 5 hundred?" She says "$2000." Oh sh!t. That morning I went out on Craigslist and found a nearly new one for $400, bought it and have been using it for the last two years.

LED lightbulbs; This goes back 6 years, we were looking for ways to cut electricity costs at our church. I was changing 2-4 bulbs every weekend (incandescent), so we went to CFLs (compact florescent) we noticed a small difference in the bills. After a couple years I started replacing them, about 1-2 each weekend (and we never really got used to the color of light they out out). And at that time the LEDs were pretty much coming on the scene, so I talked them into buying all new bulbs for the fixtures in the main church (53 little bulbs, 60 watt equivalent, and 8 250 watt equivalent spot lights). Cost us $1000 at the time. Because we were buying so many, I worked a deal with Menards and got the price down a little, otherwise it would have been closer to $1300. Well, after the CFLs, the light color took a bit of getting used to again, but these are closer to natural sunlight in color than the CFLs. Anyway, the first month we saw a big difference in the electric bill. I have switched most of the bulbs in our house over to LEDs, buying the bulbs as I see them on the "rotten rack" (what I call the clearance stuff). Doing it this way, I pick up 60 watt equivalent bulbs for $2-4 each instead of the $10 we paid for the churchs' bulbs. Our bills at home have been reduced as well.

Hurricane Mojo Tommy.

Hidey-ho! The sun is shining here - I should've gotten the Vette out but I was too lazy to shuffle cars. Meanwhile, I've had people pestering me since I got here, nature of the beast, I guess.

Have a good day, all!

Good Morning CGs!

No vette today, heavy thunderstorms all day long. Must be a side effect of the hurricane. Tommy, hope you are boarded up and bunkered down.

Hope everyone has a great day!

I have hurricane shutters and yes, I'm all closed up. The hurricane will pass north of me so pretty much I have a tropical storm watch. Better safe than sorry. Everything that can blow around is stored. Wind and rain expected later today. Hurricane is projected north of Fort Lauderdale in the general area Palm Beach county and then run up the coast. I ran my generator this morning. Fired right up. Good thing because I left it untested for about 6 months. It's a 6500 diesel. I can power all my 110 stuff but have to forego the water heater, washer, dryer, stove and A/C. Fridges and freezers, ceiling fans, tvs and such will run just fine. I can live with that for a few days. If it's out for a long time we cook on the barbie. It has a burner on it as well plus I have a Coleman stove. Just like a big camp out. Like I said, a few days is no big deal. A stretch of over 2 weeks that starts getting annoying. Anyway it goes we still have it better off than the islands.

I been wantin' to try a coffee press, they're not that expensive and supposed to make really good coffee. Kind of a pain because you have to heat the water separately but........

Luck Tommy.

Storm mojo Tommy! Things look horrible in Haiti. Saw some clips on the news of that area as well as Bahamas.
Sun and hot here - feels like summer still and I'm loving it!
On those LEDs I try to pick up the ones that are "daylight". Those give me the preferred lighting. This is really gonna get me in the winters. the walls are a dark grey, BF loves it but I'm one of those who would be happy to knock the side of the house out for sunlight. He's a cave dweller. I have some LEDs in my apartment now but I'll take them with me as $$ as those are and reinstall the cheapies I kept that were removed.

The notion also seemed to slip my mind that I do work at a place where window film is installed, and we offer a variety of those that would help with cooling costs... duh.. such as Llumar DR35... we have some pricey ones but this one is a local fave

Speaking of coffee, Kipling loves it but he likes it ground up right out of the Folger's can.
