It's Michigan and it was warm today, 62. I got it out of storage yesterday and I put over 100 miles on it just driving around, what a ride. I had an owner of a C6 give me a wave..first...and I waved back. Felt great.
I bought my 92 in November and only put about an hours worth of time on it before parking it. It is my first vette and today has been pure heaven. I found turning off the ASR is the best, laid down a set of stripes about 30 feet long before letting off the gas. Is it normal for the hood to shake when hitting bumps? It stays firm over smooth ground but on rough road it bounces a bit. It's going to be Corvette summer. |

The clamshell on my '88 doesn't appear to move at all under any driving conditions that I've noticed.

Yea, check your hood to make sure it is properly latched on both sides. Then enjoy the ride.

after work i put my new black A-mold's on and got the car out of hibernation. i was out for a couple hours and saw 5 or 6 others. no waves from any(all with the opportunity were c5/c6) but i did have a 74/75 convertible play catch up from behind to check mine out and i had a late model camaro SS throwing revs at me.

The end is near!
If the large pins on the hood are adjusted out too far the hood can move around. To adjust them you have to first loosen the large nut (you will need a big crescent wrench). There are also some rubber stops near the hood latches that can be raised up to meet the hood better. I've dicked around with mine and it either squeaks or doesn't close easily. Maybe my latch springs are shot. |

I adjusted the hood pins which did help a lot, also made the hood line up with the doors better. Watch out though, you can go too far and the door will rub. and scuff the paint. I did not notice the rubber stops, I'll have to try that out tomorrow. Thanks.
I'm also going to look around the front mounting hinges for anything loose that could contribute to the problem. |

Be very, very carefull with the ASR turned off or your hood will be more than just shaking. Take it to a totally empty parking lot, turn the ASR off, get hard on the gas and turn the front wheels and you will experience a whole new sensation.

Success :banana21: Thanks centralcoaster, after I adjusted the rubber stops at all four corners I drove down the road by my house I have been avoiding, to test it. It did not move. I am a happy camper.

Hi black86v3tt3, ASR stands for Acceleration Slip Regulation. It uses three subsystems of spark retardation, throttle close down (yes, the pedal pushes back), and rear brake intervention. It works with the ABS (This was from the Factory Service Manual).
It scared me the first time it happened, there was a little snow on the road and all of a sudden there is an odd grinding type sound from the rear of the car and the gas pedal is pushing back against my foot. Just like the first time ABS kicks in, kinda freaks you out. I believe 1992 is the first year in production and is standard on every vette from then on. I assume yours is an 86 from your name so I don't think you have it. I usually turn it off if it is dry and sunny out. On the good side it won't let you do burnouts, saves ya some money. :thumbright: |
