Yup, finally got around to it. Freshly washed and waxed. This replaced the vette. I get around 42 MPG with it

Nice bike! But it looks like someone's hand got caught in your rear treads. I'd check that out. Otherwise when you ride you might hear a "thump, thump, thump" noise every time the tire spins.

Very cool, I think you've got my vtr1000 beat!

I haven't checked my mileage yet, but based on what everyone says, I'd be lucky to get 120 out of a tank.

Is that tach LCD? Looks interesting.

Thanks everyone! Yeah the last tank I filled up with 3.8 gallons and got 162 miles on that tank. I barely hit the reserve when I filled up. Whats the wife think? Well she likes this better cause of cheaper insurance and being better on gas. Letting you ride it....uh how about you get one and we can ride together?

Oh yeah, I forgot that I am getting some stuff for it as well. I am getting an undertail kit which will take the blocky brake light and turn it into a nicer looking LED bank. Heres a pic
Resized Image

AND I am getting a lock for it...military folks will appriciate this one
Resized Image

AND I got a couple other things coming. Some new flush mount LED turn signals for the fronts, I have flush mounts right now but they are regular bulbs and not very bright. I also am getting a carbon fiber triple tree cover, the only reason I am getting it is so I dont get scratches on the paint from the keys rubbing against it. I already got a jacket, helmet and gloves. Here are pics of those.

I need a new helmet. I had a Scorpion exo400, pretty crappy, but it's yellow, my bike is red. So I'll get something black/silver instead. As much as I'd hate the extra heat of black, it'll save me from needing a new helmet everytime I switch bikes.

Any ideas?

Well, what are you looking for in a helmet? Do you want one that has the full open face that opens up instead of a visor? Do you want any specific brand? I just got the one in the picture and its a vega, really well made and I was actually impressed on how well it kept my knoggin cool at low speeds. Very light too and a perfect fit! I also like shoei but they are pricy. You could always go with a designed helmet. For example, I like dragons and scorpians so I looked for those designs on ebay and found a few but I liked the tribal red over the black helmet better. No one is going to kill you if you buy a helmet that dont match your jacket or bike so just get what you like.

I basically want a lightweight full face helmet that vents well when I want it to and doesn't leak when I don't want it to.

The Scorpions seems to have some common defects, leaking and not being able to get the visor off.

But come to think of it, I bought a $60 tinted visor for it, so I'll see if they've got a better model that fits it.

I understand not matching (within reason), but yellow on red just looks plain goofy. And I needed an excuse to get rid of this thing. I actually have two of them, hoping to sell em with my other yellow bike.

A vega might work well for you then. I picked mine up for 135 shipped and thats with the clear and mirrored visors.

red, here's some pics of mine after cleaning. Have the big brake kit, and I'm not sure where the exhaust came from. After 120 miles of backroads today it's all covered in bugs again!

2K sounds perfect. It retails for about 2,500 so it sounds right on the mark at 2K. Make sure tires are in good shape, them buggers can be expensive.

Awesome pix guys. I feel like you have to have a Honda V Twin to be a proper moderator... I wish I could swing one. Maybe someday... Things are a little shakey with the job situation, so I'll have to wait it out a bit. I suspect I'll be rich in a few years.

Pappy, FJs are great bikes, from what I hear. Cult following, lots of parts available. That's just what I hear. I found a super clean one cheap in my town, but can't bite on it, unfortunately.

Dang, that was fast! Didn't you just get that Sporty?

I've only ever ridden sport bikes. I don't dislike Harley's, but it could be an expensive experiment. If I ever run into anyone who owns one that would let me try it, I will give it a shot.

There's something about race inspired bikes that gets me going.

Since I will be leaving my job to start my own business, I'm not going to buy a bloody thing until I have at least six months of my current take-home salary in the bank as a reserve. Once I accomplish that, then I can start saving for my next toy.

Sport bikes are it for me. I used to read about them all the time in magazines when I was younger and dreamed about having a CBR600. Then I got one and while it was fast I was not overly impressed. I also read about the RC-51's and knew my next bike would be that. It almost wasnt due to finding one near me but I got lucky and I am very impressed by it. It has more power then I will use and knifes into corners like nothing (if I could learn how to do it right)

Yeah, didn't have it quite 4 months. I really liked it, but it just wasn't the right bike for riding two-up.
And I didn't want a full out bagger, so the Dyna Fat Bob will be just right.

I wouldn't mind having a sport bike, but then I'd probably kill myself. See how much smarter I am getting as I get older.
