Both could be power, neither could be.

However, if they are, they should move fore/aft and up down with little more than an electric motor whine....

ok...I dropped off the deposit today for the 427

I'm going with a 232/238 cam

Heads are not determined yet. Either Dart or Brodix

I am changing the SR to the MR. I have a sentimental attachment to the SR as the car was a TPI car from day one, which at this point seems not to matter. The MR makes more sense

We are going 10.5 compression

Pat is estimating at least 550 CHP, we're thinking closer to 575.

This will be a unique engine as it will be the first one built on this new Dart block platform. Vic from Edlebrock is watching this build closely and intends to offer a motor based on the results of this build. Dart is also watching it closely to determine what they will do with this block.

Pat is going to try to get it done before Carlisle, so I can go there.

I am getting custom valve covers that will read "Pat Musi Performance" on one side of the cover, and 427 #1 on the other....

If anyone has any interest or questions, PM me. This is a new block, which from what Pat says, is almost impossible to get right now. He is starting the build soon...

Use the AFR 210s if you can they will make more power than the dart or brodix. Your CI can use about all of what those heads have to offer. Dont get stuck with a head and have to further port them to make power.
Take it from a guy who bought Dart heads becuase they were $200 less and proceeded to spend thousands on them because "out of the box" the results were disappointing.
Enjoy breaking them loose at 40 mph

If not, we can get together afterwards. Maybe a NJ/DE/MD thing....see who we can scrape up.

Thanks for all the input. I appreciate it.

NO decision is made on heads just yet. I asked pat outright what he perfers..

He carries Dart, Brodix, AFR, Edlebrock. His preferenceis Dart or Brodix. He does agree that we need to see 200CFM on the exhaust side, he's working with Dart and Brodix to get the flow to 200. If we can't get the flow there, and be reasonable on the price (we set the heads at $1500 in the quote) we'll figure it out.

so...we know the numbers.we just need to see what's the best option.

Glad to see you are ditching the superram. It would be ok but with your cubes and cam I think the mini will be great. 10.5:1 compression. Going to spray it someday? That compression will be perfect for nitrous. If not, you could go higher than that. Or, you could go down to 10:1, then run a supercharger at about 10 psi and water/meth system in the future. I couldn't imagine the power you would put down at that point. I cant' imagine the amount of power you will be putting down N/A with this new setup!

I am considering spraying it some time in the future....The bottom end is being built to sustain 1000 HP, so a 150 shot should be no problem...

Been here before, I am a huge fan of buying a bare head and having someone that ports for a living do the assembly & finish work. Spare no expense on a good port job, they usually cost @ $500 for a nice street/performance setup. Darts are known entity in terms of porting results, as is Brodix , Edelbrock Tricks etc.

I personally don't trust the "out of the box or as advertised" statements,,, if a head is that good, the mfgr should flow the heads and send you a flow sheet.

I am having the factory clean up the chambers and port the exhaust and intake slightly to get me to the numbers listed, that's what I need for this motor. I don't want to over port them and have too much head.

Gonna need 1 7/8" headers for that combo.

In fact, 1 7/8" headers flow 198.40 CFM. Your still gonna have a hair of pressure drop assuming the motor is near 95% VE.

Joe,

I don't disagree, however, I have a set of custom made EMs, and they are 1.75 inches. I'm using those.

Maybe someday I'll change it, but with the budget going through the ceiling, not right now.

I have a 3 inch exhaust all the way out the back.
