The villan's insurance finally came through and got me a mid-size rental, I'll pick it up tomorrow at 9am, but wasn't able to get it today ,THEREFORE I MISS Eureka Springs Corvette Weekend tomorrow.
Shit.
But the body shop owner sent me some pics to share....
has all the 'little stuff' either primed or painted and the underside of the hood painted. Sometime in the next few days he said I need to get down there and clean up that engine so it will all look nice... :blade:
Shop owner sent me some pics today...
Says he has the 'little stuff' primed and some painted, and painted underside of hood....geez what a mess!

Ok, here it is, my rental... an '07 PT Cruiser Convertible, black 2-door, with a tiny itty bitty 2.4L engine....
Not the best and I would never buy one, but it runs very well, actually has a little get up and go, and when I take a curve in it, it doesn't 'lean' like most normal cars do, it stays put on the road like my vette sort of. I do like that. And, it's nicely equipped.

Still couldn't believe they got me a convertible anything, I was expecting a little wind up car of some sort.

Ewww... I would drive it with the top up so nobody saw me in it.

Can't be any worse than a Chevy HHR though. I've rented a few of those.

After looking at these pics, there is not 7,000.00 in damage that you said they were up to in the other thread.

Well, let's see......
Hood was $1200, front and rear bumpers close to $500 each, both complete headlight assemblies those cost a ton, new exhaust - that was $650, front support underneath bumper another hundred or more, then another support piece for the back end, still another hundred or more, hood hinges, miscellaneous other stuff including some aftermarket stuff I'd done, and then shipping charges for everything (hood alone was $250), plus paint, and labor ($42 per hour for a few hours). Initial check was for around $6,400 and a few things have been added since then to cause them to write a supplement. It all adds up! Especially those shipping charges and body/paint labor time, and sales tax at 8%.
You must have never wrecked a vette before? This is my second bad one in this vette.

Still not seeing it.

And I like how you paint a picture about somebody you have no clue about.

What do you think the estimate was on this Corvette?

You are one to talk.

YOU seemed pretty sure of MY estimate that I have a copy of and you DON'T.

I'm sorry you don't see it, but I have the paperwork here, the check is in the bank and parts have all arrived, and perhaps since I'm a just a country girl and have no idea what I'm talking about, maybe I just didn't know what I was looking at all the times I've been to the shop to see the car, looked up part prices, etc.

I'm sorry I am no expert such as yourself, and never claimed to know all about my car, but I try to learn and know all I can.

All I do know is what is on my estimate, the cost of the parts, labor, paint, etc, and then what else had to be ordered after the original estimate, and what the owner tells me as far as cost.

FWIW I'm not painting a picture, no offense was meant, and no one was trying to start something with you, but you are the one who came in here and 'matter of factly' stated that my estimate is not true like you are here to see it or something. All I did was list what needed done perhaps to clarify.
Besides....What's your attitude toward me all about? You dont' know me either?
By all means, pardon me.....I never meant to offend anyone.

Personally, I LIKE country girls.

Your repair costs seem quite reasonable to me.

Did you have a chance yet to spend some time detailing your engine compartment?

Owner was surprised at the repair costs also. Adjuster was expecting a total. Actually, I was figuring more, considering three years ago I knocked the front end of it off with the help of a concrete light pole pillar and the front end work alone cost that much then. Parts are cheaper now. But, the more stuff he pulled off, the more broke stuff we found. Actually, post-accident, the car looked like it took it well from the outside - till you got up close LOL. Also, a 'botched' repair job by the previous shop 3 years ago might have led to the failure of some of the other parts. The car is here now: www.donparkerbodyshop.com. Vettes are what he does most.

Was not able to work on engine either, owner went to Eureka Springs Corvette Weekend and was not at the shop. I've never detailed - much less cleaned, period - an engine. I'd rather eat a bug than clean a car. Panned to use Simple Green, then some engine detail spray. Can't find CD-2 here though but have been told about something similar. Being on my 3rd opti, I'm not about to squirt water under there :thumbright: Any suggestions would be appreciated

Also, found a thread elsewhere illustrating how to redo a 'glass' top. That will also be next on the list. More than happy to share the link if anyone is interested.

Wow, whats with the hostility here? The damage and cost look right on point to me. Like she said, there is a TON of stuff that can get broke in that area of the hood and with the exhaust damage as well it just adds to the cost.
