I've been thinking about picking up a set of chrome ralleys to replace my current ones. Would keep the same size (15x8) but drop the trim rings. Not sure about center caps, but I'm leaning toward keeping my current style.

What do the Gurus think?

My current combo:

I think they all look pretty good, but the trim rings are near and dear to my heart. I have owned two first Gen Camaros with the Rally Wheels and wide trim rings and just love them. I also like the wheels painted the factory "Argent Silver". Eastwood has the paint and its cheaper than chrome.

I like them both. On the older cars I dig the nostalgic style. But how about a set of cragars or torque thrusts

I stoleded this pic:

Cant make a choice, I love em in argent, black like you have, chrome doesnt look bad either. You can get them now in about any size/offset you want
Im sure whichever one you choose it will look sharp but for some reason I like the black on yours..
.

Hello 15x10 and 295/50/15 (eventually)

They arnt the fanciest but they never go out of style.

15x7 frt
15x8 rear

I actually had them in stock argent with the original caps for a short time, but I just didn't care for it looking like all the rest. Also, my employer at the time could powdercoat them for free, as long as I wasn't too picky about the color.

I knew that was coming, and I agree. TTs do look great on them, and that's why a bunch of people run them. But like I mentioned about the ralleys, I'd rather have something a little different.

However, I've actually been considering these from AR. Whatcha think?

That's definitely one of the pros to keeping them. Rings and caps will be available forever as well. :thumbleft:

They are actually dark grey, but "in the shadows" they do look black. Here's one under flash:

I like those ARs, too. I'm not a huge fan of chrome rims (as you can tell by my car) so I think those are pretty sweet. I think you've got a winner either way, but ultimately it comes down to your choice.

PS - unless you can fit these under there:

I never liked the disc brake centercaps.

Here's some rally's on my truck. I painted the wheel a sort of medium gray metallic. It has some greenish/bluish hues in there that really pop in low light. I didn't want too much contrast (black), or not enough (factory argent grey), which also happen to look like primer.

I need a pic in the daylight...

I like those, especially the chrome. Just double up on tires and put the combo on that suits your mood.

A friend of mine in college had a 65 Glen Green (Dr. Green) vert. He was a local & his dad had a lift. He had he rally wheels, the knockoff and a set of torque thrusts. He had a white soft top, a painted hardtop and a black vinyl hardtop. He changed combos a lot, it was like he had a different car every week.

Are stockers 15x7? Can you fit bigger brakes under these? Is there a common brake upgrade for the C3s like the C4-C5?

I've got a friend with a street rod like that. He's had 4 or 5 different wheel sets, not sure how many he currently has ready-to-run though. He was sporting these the last I saw:

Actually, the stock rims for mine (and all later C3s, IIRC) are 15x8, so going to the 16x8 is not a huge jump.

And yes, there are several options for brake upgrades available for C3s, but I'm not very familiar with them. My stock system works well for cruising and occasional spirited runs in the mountains, although I am considering going to hydroboost in the future.

Good news! Got them mounted this afternoon.

Resized Image

Bad news! I started washing them up before installation. When I got this one wet, I heard that dreaded hissing sound.

Resized Image

It was coming from this area.

Resized Image

Upon closer inspection ... is that a small crack?

Resized Image

The rim is one piece and the center is welded to it, so the hole is obviously all the way through the rim. It lost 12 psi in about 2 hours.

Good news! I got them from Summit. Called them up right after I found this, and now there's already a replacement on the way. They credited my account for the mounting/balancing, and all I have to do is put the bad one back in the box and give it to the UPS guy. for Summit Customer Service.

But I was really looking forward to trying them out this weekend. Oh well, I guess I can wait a little longer.

Sucks about the crack! I had to send two rims back when I got mine because they were dented so I know *exactly* what you mean. But Summit has a good policy. Glad they took care of you.
