Good Morning CGs!

My first installment of weekend chat! I am taking cues from BC who started it last weekend and it was a hit

Well, probably too early for most, it's about 5:30 here. But I'm used to getting up at 4:30, so this was sleeping in for me! I can't sleep 10-12 hours a night like some people. I went to bed at 9:15 or so, and this is it.

I'm supposed to stop by my buddy's house this morning and help him tinker with the clutch on his raptor quad. After that some of my wife's family is dropping by for a little bit. Her cousin is a contractor and we're gonna take a look at the basement to start planning out the refinishing project. It's not a necessity, but it's been bugging me and since I spend so much time down there I would like it to look semi-decent.

What's everyone else up to?

Matthew

Too bad I'll be tied up. I'd love to stop by and help, maybe meet your wife.

Replacing the valve cover gaskets on my 1992; ever since I installed the composite cork "trust me they are for racing, sir" gaskets it has leaked like a mofo. Back to rubber for me! Also have a small exhaust leak, need to replace gaskets and tighten the bolts. Also gonna inspect the front of the motor to make sure there is no oil coming from the front seals.. I suspect I may have blown them again...

Taking a short break this afternoon to go to the dog park, we have agreed to have a Mastiff as a house guest in March so it's 'introduce the dogs on neutral territory' time.
Wish me luck...

Happy weekend gurus!

Retirement can be too or so I've heard!

I'm doing a 4 speed tranny conversion in a 30 Model A Ford. Rebuilding the rear today with help from my dad. Those old rears are a pain and time consuming http://photobucket.com/cabriolet-4-speed
have a good day ! and stay warm

I was just rudely awakened by the grocery delivery guy coming earlier than scheduled, but it's about time I got moving anyway. Heat wave indeed - at +20 it's 45 degrees warmer than yesterday morning - amazing how good 20 can feel.

My son called last night and thinks his battery is dead, so I'm sure I'll be getting another call shortly.

Went through this with my daughter 3 weeks ago.

Make sure you test the alternator output.

Cliffs notes:
Daughter calls, dead battery. -6 degrees, green eye is black on the Delco battery.
Buy new batter at Advance auto.
Next day, -5 degrees. New battery is dead.
Take out alternator, bearing are shot.
$200.00 in parts. Coulda saved $70.00.

Exactly. First thing I told him we're going to do is have the battery tested - it's 6 years old, so it could be the problem. But no sense replacing it unnecessarily.

Doing the Heater Core all weekend. Our mechanic will do it for 500 including parts. A shop down the road wants 850. If I can't do it, off to our mechanic. Got me a manual, tools, time, and parts!
