Good Morning CGs!

How is everyone today? I'm doing better now, but I was pretty bad off last night. Apparently I got a mild case of food poisoning. Ugh. Wifey bought a slab of ribs from a place we've never been to and cooked them on the grill. We were eating and everything seemed fine, but when I took one of my last bites I noticed something was wrong. Just didn't taste right. Flavor and consistency was all wrong. I just brushed it off to being fatty or something. That was 7 pm. Well, around 1 am I woke up with a horrible stomach pain. I mean, it actually physically hurt. Went into the bathroom thinking I could just get rid of it, if you know what I mean, but to no avail. I stood up and that's when I felt it coming up the same way it went in. Well, I sure felt a lot better afterwards. Went back to sleep and woke up this morning with no problems. I haven't had food poisoning in 10 years. Last time was from some Hooters chicken wings when I was visiting Texas. That was a bad time....

Anyone else have any horror stories?

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Greetings - glad you're feeling better!

It's a balmy 0 today - where's Al Gore? It's so cold, and the moon is so bright that we have moon-dogs - pretty cool-looking. Speaking of cool, on the way in this morning I saw a Chrysler 300-C with big fart can exhaust. Classy! :-P

My horror story was yesterday. Nothing to do with food. My employer laid off 142. I survived, good day for me, but I feel bad for the ones who got whacked.

It's times like this that I really want those SOB's in Congress to feel some pain. The economy is crumbling, people are really feeling pain, and Congress is business as usual, 535 millionares in a power struggle with no real concern about us.

Man, I hate to hear about the layoffs, as I have survived multiple layoffs here as well. It's a horrible feeling to see HR come in and escort your friends/coworkers off the premisis as if they were criminals or something....

I'm very glad you survived the cut!

I would love to see congress feel the pain as well. You described it perfectly in my opinion....nothing but a damn elitist club...
I have been bombarding my elected officials here with emails, etc, but have yet to get any response--other than a computer generated "thank you for your concern" msg...

Thanks. I didn't think I'd get chopped, but you never know. That uneasy feeling sucks.

Congress won't pay attention to us until we, most of us, not just a few of us, pay attention to them.

Good morning!
Glad you're feeling better Mat.
That's good news Dale. But it does leave a very uncomfortable feeling down in the gut for the other folks. Very difficult to regain any sense of security.

Have a good day
Joel

You bet Dale..
That is a horrible feeling, I've got a little of it now myself due to various rumors going around here now. I've got 20yrs invested in this place--but that means nothing to the new mgmt. In fact, it may be a serious disadvantage...but...who knows..

Good for you Dale.

BUT, how can you say that? The latest spending bill ( you know, the one with the promised "no earmarks", "no pork") shows that congress is terribly concerned. Just 2 of the 7,995 provisions shows how they're protecting us.

1. Multiple millions for the study of grape genetics.
2. Multiple millions for the study of why pigs smell bad.

Me, I'm going to be sitting beck, sipping some genetically engineered pig swill, comfortable in the knowledge that I won't be smelling pig stink anytime soon (I must be too far away from Washington).
At least they're doing something.

Yeah Mat been there. More years ago than I care to remember, I was driving back from my GF's house (about 1/2 hour drive)
when it hit me. Had coming from both ends at once. Thank God I was on a country road and I could run into a field. I could only drive about 10 minutes before it would hit again. Man that was the longest drive of my life and the only time I could say I was not full of sh_t :laughing2:

Hang in there Dale, I'm in a position here that we may have to layoff 1 or 2 people. The only thing that makes it easier is that they are young and single and still live at home. About 10 years ago we had to lay off a family man with a mortgage wife and 2 kids, man I was just sick about it. Believe me you don't ever want to have to do that.

I've managed to make a comfortable living without having to be in a position to hire/fire anyone. There are very few people I'd ever want to see lose their job. I can only imagine how horrible it feels to layoff someone.

In that respect, (and quite a few others), I've been blessed.

Sorry to hear about the lay offs, Dale.

And yes, I'd love to give the members of Congress a piece of my mind, too.....

My horror story is we ate some hamburger (the whole family) and I ate alot while everyone else hardly touched it cause it tasted funny. Tasted fine to me. Anyway I wake up around 4am and it felt like someone was kicking my belly with spiked steel tip boots. After several episodes of puking and well exploding I finally went in to be seen at the ER. They told me it would be 2 HOURS before they could see me so I tried to get some water in me. Every time I would drink something I would CRAWL to the bathroom and toss down some cookies. So they put me in a wheel chair as I could not stand for lack of strength from hurling so much. I made a bunch of trips to the bathroom and several times it was just dry heaving before I finally got called back. Stuck me with a IV and some medicine for the poison and about 5 hours latter I felt better but was still weak as hell. Got a few days off and I was good again. I NEVER want to go through that again!!

Sorry to hear about the layoffs, Dale - great to hear you're among the survivors. We've been through a couple rounds of that (200 last time), and I don't know if it's over yet. At least there are some signs that the market may be near the bottom, but there are problems galore ahead.

My mother ate some chicken one time that made her tongue turn green for a couple days.
