I took the vet to work today hoping the weather might break, so I would be able to go to KC and run my car. It didn't happen.

Anyway on my way home my phone rings, and it is my wife seeing when I would be home. I see a cop to my left, but I had already made a complete stop at the stop sign so I go. Look in my rearview and the lights are on. As I am trying to figure out why I am being pulled over, I am also trying to get the wife off the phone (use of cell phones is not illegal). Then I remembered I didn't reinstall my front plate. The cop ran my info, and gave me a warning. They have a new red light system, so they are stopping people without front plates. Not to say you couldn't drive around and never get caught, but since I have a warning in their system I will probably receive a ticket next time. I have lived in this town for 25yrs, and rarely see someone pulled over. Now the Columbia PD is trying to get grants.

I love how they can ticket you for making it harder for them to ticket you.

I'm going on 7 years with no front plate here in Kalifornia and not a peep. In fact, despite my efforts, the only ticket I've gotten in the vette was for doing a burnout.

I bought a new truck a few years ago and took the ugly front plate off, and got written up for it within a week.

I think there's just something about the vette's appearance where cops either don't notice not having a front plate as much, or are more forgiving.

Something to keep your eye on:

If you use a particular intersection frequently, take note of the time that the yellow is on, does it seem that these yellows are shorter in length?

The camera syetems are usually run by a private contractor who gets a cut of each and evert ticket. They have been proven to reduce the time the yellow stays on just to increase the amount of tickets/revenue.

IIRC, some of these companies have been taken to court because of this.

Yea, over a number of years, I've seen this on TV, quite a few times. The camera company had been allowed to change the interval. The town goverments involved got a lot of heat and either changed back or kicked out the camera company.

This is actually the second company the city has hired. The first one's system did not work. They only have them on a few lights, but they are even running commercials to warn you of those intersections.

I don't really mind running a front plate on my C4

Some of the other years do look a little ridiculous.

If your state does not require it, you are still safe to drive without it in states that do require it.

Here in NY They just ticket you. I have received 2 in ten years about $85 each. After the second one I just put it on all cars now.
