Have an elderly cat.

She's been great all this years

Lately she's been sneaking into the living room and finding a hidden spot on the run to take a dump, diarrhea to boot

Don't get it, keep the little boxes changed, more than one.

Is there something I can spray on the rug to keep her from doing it???

The problem is that no matter now much you scrub, you never get rid of the scent.

One idea is to cover it with something like a towel or even duct tape - anything to throw the kitty off.

You can also try lemon juice on the spot - it's strong enough to lessen the scent.

Your cat might have a problem, a vet visit might be in order.

And, if all else fails, it might be time to use a cork...
(or just live with it....)

Had a couple of cats for many years - when they got older they started sneaking poops behind the TV. We eventually set up an indoor fenced 'run' for them that included a litter tray and a sleep area. Problem solved.

I'd duct tape the cat down and poop on the cat.

Hear that knocking at the door? It's PETA, I invited them over to your house and told them you are interested in becoming a lifetime sponsor member and want to have a pet rescue shelter in your extra room since no one wants to rent it.
