Good Morning CGs!

Well, the weatherman lied! It was supposed to be nice and clear yesterday....so around 4 pm it started raining hard. Really surprised my neighbor who was putting on a roof...oops. Now it's still nasty out, supposed to rain a little in the morning. Then 78 tomorrow and 91 on Sunday. Oh crap I'm not ready for 91 yet! Oh well.

Wifey and I tried a new restaurant by the house yesterday. It's called Cattlemans...similar to lonestar, texas roadhouse, etc chain type. They have an early dinner special before 6 pm where several menu items are a couple bucks off. Portions were huge, quality was good, and price was cheap. Couldn't ask for more. We'll go back again.

Headers gave me a fit last night and I was ready to throw them against the wall. I'll try again when I'm fresh.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Good Morning All,

Yup, those headers can be a PITA getting all the bolts in and a wrench on them heads. I actually wound up using a combination of the Allen Set Screw type bolt and then a standard ARP header bolt in a few. The clearance between the header tube and the bolt head is so close that a socket would not fit on several of the bolt heads.

Matt - your coming along great!

I cleaned up the garage a little last night and took the cover off the car to dream a little bit. I'm going to order an engine stand and a Happy Hooker engine lift plate in the next couple days. I need to dig out my FSM and map out a plan for engine removal. I'm not planning on removing engine/trans as a unit since I'm doing this by myself. I'm thinking I'll pull the trans out from the bottom if I can get my jack stands high enough. Lots to think about.

Have a good morning

Don't get to fustrated with those headers Mat. Wouldn't want ya to do anything to damage that nice new motor.

Well tonight I fly back to Portland Or. for the big move. That's right folks I pack the house, wife and cat up and move to Ft Wayne officialy. Been apart from the wife for a yr now and she says it's time and been to long. She had a phone interview for a new positon here so with some luck she'll have a new job also.

Hope everyone has a great guru day.

Happy Friday! It's drizzling here, hope it clears up before we go to the Twins game tonight. Looking forward to seeing the new ballpark in person, everyone says it's phenomenal.

I see Toyota bought half of Tesla Motors - interesting move.

Good luck with your engine removal, Don - just take lots of pictures and label all the wires, nuts and bolts, and take your time.

Hope everything works out with your move, Mike! A year is a helluva long time, that has to be rough.

Have a good one, everybody!

Good morning Gurus.....

It sounds as though many are already at it. Never put headers on a Corvette, but I can imagine that it could be frustrating. Keep plugging away at it, you'll get it, Matt. Don, if I still had the puller I'd send it back to you, I think you're going to need it again....sometime. Mike glad to hear you're finally going to get re-united, that could not have been an easy thing for either of you. As far as Tesla....well I guess it's all about MONEY.

Well, it's going to be a slim day here. Seniors are done (grad is tomorrow). Regional track meet today, 6 hour drive from here, so the tracksters are already gone. So that means that I have this period free. Liable to be a slow day. Supposed to be in the 80's today, but the wind is going to blow....20-40mph and gusts higher....just another Kansas spring day.

Everyone have a good Friday.

Friendship among Women:
A woman didn't come home one night. The next morning she told her husband that she had slept over at a friend's house. The man called his wife's 10 best friends. None of them knew anything about it.

My project this morning was a little 'bling' on my son's Corvette. He has a small list of things he wants done while he is in Iraq and the car is here. This was the first thing on his list and the last thing looks like it might be a set of headers and hi flow cats.

Before:

After:

Then after taking the picture I decided to detail the engine bay, but I didn't feel the need for another picture.

I had some of those too, but the socket to fit those would not clear the header tube. The socket wall was too thick, so I used some regular ARP hex head 1" header bolts. I was afraid the 3/4" might not be long enough, but they probably were. I also just sold someone here a full set of locking header bolts that I bought from EM but never used.

Mike - good luck with the move! I'm glad you and your wife will finally get to be together again. Long distance relationships suck.

Don - take lots of pictures and individually bag and label every component!

Andy - is that just a stick on thing or is it a different intake?

As for me, I finished the headers so I'm happy.
