Thanks to information from a lot of the members here I used the Tung Oil instead of polyurethane and I am very pleased with the finish. I plan to put a coat of Johnson's paste furniture wax on it in the morning and then delivery it to my daughter. I did the top, not the front or sides, but they might get a refinish in the future if I really feel brave.
