GOOD MORNING!

One of the things I miss least about drinking is the way my head and stomach felt after a heavy night of partying when I woke up. I usually went for the hair of the dog for breakfast to level out. Today I'm just tired from spending a late night at the casino. Spent 3 hours on the card table and 5 hours on the slots. Made a modest donation to the tribe and the card players. Got off pretty cheap considering the time that I played. We got home around 02:30 AM. I know some of you are saying .... I'll never do that again. At least not till you forget about it.

Better than a major donation.

The ski slopes that I can see from my deck had night sking with lights and ski trains (single file sking holding road flares), looked like red snakes coming down the mountain,
Then they had fireworks. It was fun watching.

I missed New Year's Eve again.

I hope everyone's 2011 will be better than 2010.

Oh... my head...

One of our friends got very sick last night and had to be taken to the hospital. Reaction between booze and cold medicine put her out like a light around 1:00 am. We weren't sure what she got a hold of. My wife took off after the ambulance and didn't get back here until 6am this morning. She said the ER Docs did nothing for our friend except run a few tests and let her sleep it off.

For me... I had too much to drink to be driving so I stayed home and manned the phones until I went to sleep. Crazy night!

I hope 2011 is better!

Plenty of rain washed all the snow and salt away and the roads are dry. That means I get a 'vette fix today, yea.
New strict speeding law goes into effect today, boo.

Ewww.
Speeding 30 mph in excess of the limit is no longer a petty offense punishable by fine only. Now, a ticket for going 30 mph over the speed limit is a Class B misdemeanor, which has a penalty of up to six months jail and $1,500.00 fine

Makes the $250 days at the racetrack a bargin.

Yeah, and with the weather we had in Dec., potholes are everywhere. Kinda takes the fun out of driving.

Good morning guys.....I stayed up all the way until midnight. But I was in bed by 12:05, and asleep at 12:06. This morning I am going out to the shop and build a couple small sliding shelves.

It's cold here, low was -5* F, it's -3 right now. We did have some snow, maybe 2-3", not very wet snow though. We could use a lot more moisture.

Don, alcohol and medicines can be a really bad mix. I'd guess that, what they did, was the best they could do. Glad to see you got out Tommy and it didn't cost you much. Wow, that's a steep price to pay for 30 over, is that a state law or is that something the feds are "encouraging" the states to do?

Well the wife is making a big breakfast, time to eat. Have a great NEW YEARS DAY...and I wish everyone a great 2011.

Happy New Year! Went into the Capital City last night to meet up with some friends and eat at the Macaroni Grill. That's high cuisine for us flat landers. Then over to their house for coffee and lots of laughing. The guys all like cars so you know what we talked about while the ladies chatted it up about whatever they talk about. Home by eleven and in bed by 1:00.

Andy, I like the new intro, the pictures are nice! Today I will watch some football and hang out, it is very cold out. Have a good day Guru's!

LOL. I remember when I got back to States after spending most of 3 1/2 years in Germany, I was glad to see places like Taco Bell, Dunkin Donuts and Sambo's (Like Denny's) and all the burger joints. Simple pleasures.

Macaroni is pretty damn good for a chain restaurant, i really like their lasagna.

Sambo's was a great place to go for hangover prevention at 3 a.m. in the '70's.

But ya can't get 100 year old balsamic vinegar over vanilla ice cream at Denny's.

Good Morning CGs!

Yesterday was great weather despite the 20 hours of straight rain...it was in the 50s and the nice thing was the rain washed away all the snow. Put me in a great mood. I planned on running right away after work, but when I got home the power was out! I freaked out thinking the sump backed up and flooded the finished basement, but luckily it was ok I did get a run in right after that, so I was happy. What sucks is I haven't run since my last race. On 11/28 I ran a half marathon. On 12/31 I ran 3 1/2 miles. I felt the same after each run...geeze. There is quite a slope of decline when you stop training! But if the roads are clear and I can get in a few more runs I'll be back up to 8-9 miles in 2-3 weeks. It's really not as bad as it seems.

Since the power was out last night, I sent the wife and kids to the outlaws to stay the night. I was gonna stick around and man the sump pump if it started raining again. Luckily it didn't so I got to stop at the neighbors' house and have a few glasses of scotch and chit chat. Ended up not leaving until 12:15 and still had to get up for work this morning...oops! Snooze was my buddy today!

Aside from that, let's start the year off right!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

HNY! We had a good time at a friend's party, didn't get to bed until 3AM. I didn't know we still had a 3AM on our clock. I didn't drink much, as the roads were plenty slick. I was going to get up a couple hours ago, then thought, "I'll just lay here for another minute or two...." - ooops! I hadn't been training for sleeping in, but was happy that I haven't lost my edge. The wind chill is -13, so I didn't miss anything anyway.

I liked the Macaroni Grill - we had one nearby until they closed it a couple years ago. Good chow, reasonably priced, nice atmosphere, and you could draw on the tablecloth. What more could you ask for?

Enjoy what's left of your first day of 2011!

I'm suprised that it had to close, the one in Lincoln is always going full tilt. I was drawing Vette pics with big drag slicks and Hurst shifters! Until I got the Stink Eye from my date.

Just what we need... another set of offenses that put more scofflaws into jail. How stupid.

It's Bowl Day! We watched most of the Rose Parade today, the rest is on DVR. We just finished the Rose Bowl Game, glad TCU won.

Getting ready to tune in the UConn/Oklahoma game.

Good Evening Gurus. Happy New Year!
Last night was the first time in years that my wife and I celebrated in the new year at a party. Old friends and a few Navy Buds and their wives. It was really a great time. Grilled steaks outside in near 60 degree temps. At midnight we did the burning man, good bye to the old year. The "burning man" is a 10'frame of a 2"x6"man stuffed with hay, you write what you want to rid yourself of for the new year, stick the paper in the hay, drench the hay with fuel oil, light a flaming arrow and shoot the frame at 70'. kinda cool. Some kind of pagon ritual. Got home at 2 am.
Nice time.
Watching the Twilight Zone marathon and bowl games.
School starts up on Monday. Two weeks without BS was nice.
Have a great New Years Guys.
