I guess I'm up early today. It is interesting to me to see how this forum got started and where those folks that were posting then are now. History is important and maybe there should be a short write up of it so us newer guys can understand the roots.

I can't believe it but I think it's going to snow again. Oh well, let it snow because I now have a heated shop to work in. It is so nice out there and now I can get started on my Vette projects.

Got meetings with clients today so I better get ready. Be safe Guru's.

Good Morning CGs!

Gonna be a chilly one today. Around 9 with a windchill of down to -29....brrrrrr.

Getting ready for a big weekend. My folks and sister/BIL are coming into town for rugrat #2s Christening. Big polack party on Sunday. We really go all out for these things. Banquet hall, live band, lots o' booze. It will be a blast. The saving grace is it's on a Sunday, so people can't stay too late and get overly stupid drunk.

I wanted to get some chores done this weekend but I don't think that'll happen. I still need to remove my injectors for cleaning and a few other projects. Oh well.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Same here Matt! 7 degrees with 20-30 mph blowing and drifting. Wind chillllls near 35 below. Matt! this winter is getting old!!!! Come on spring!
Another easy day, counselors are finishing up their scheduling for next year, so I only have seniors...they are reprograming a remote control robot we put together a few years ago. It has 4 Ford starter motors, one to drive each wheel and a GM starter motor to run the hydraulic ram, its powered by 2 marine 12 v batteries. They like to run it underneath the snow in the back parking lot. Thing weights about 200 lbs. Kids in a candy store! Last fall we had it in the hallway and let it loose on the Coke Machine. Cool.
Well Gurus my psychos have become real quiet! not a good sign.......

Sounds like a fun machine, Ron, and a great party, Matt! Y'all enjoy your balmy weather - it was -19 when I took the garbage out this morning. I said to myself, "Gosh, it's kinda chilly - I could use a cardigan!" At least it is Friday and I'm indoors.

Hope everyone has smooth sailing into the weekend!

Morning guys.....35 now, headed for mid 40's. We are experiencing a basically normal winter (except for no moisture) Our snow has been spotty and very little rain. North and East it is a different story. Aren't you guys up north glad for the global warming?

GS played very well last night, they beat the second place team 61-52. GS had a good game, not many points (they were collapsing on him), but that left others open and he had 8 assists, 7 rebounds and 12 points (6 for 6 at the freethrow line). The other team tried to make a comeback, but down the stretch the boys made most of the freethrows.

Ron, that sounds like a neat robot. Matt, don't overindulge. Brad, make sure that you keep that sweater on when you go outside. Marcus, get those projects done spring is around the corner. Not much going on for me this weekend.

Feeling a bit better today but still whacked out. I went outside long enough to take a few photos of my new project. Like I don't have enough. Several weeks ago a friend asked if I could keep his small sailboat at my house for the rest of the winter. Well guess what? Its mine now. Now I have another money pit.

Here's some fun photos I snapped this morning.

Good morning gurus. It sure was cold this morning. Left the house and it was 3* out with a windchill somewhere below 0*. Don't think it is supose to get above 10* today.

Looks like a nice little boat Don. I agree they can be another money pit but as long as your happy that is all that counts. Hopefully you'll enjoy it this summer.

The bigger the boat the deeper the pit. That should be just a little pocket change. Now, squeezing in the time to use it after Spring has sprung ..........

Update on Robot! After 3 classes of seniors today utilizing their skills with video gaming have done an incredible job of testing the durability of Snafu our beloved Robot. Running on 8" aggressive tractor tires on all four corners, on 1" thick ice @ -2 degree Snafu has pushed its way under snow drifts, tracked up hugh mounds of snow and rammed a 1998 Ford Escort with its hydraulic ram extended. Escort is owned by the student controlling Snafu. BTW no humans were hurt in this carnage this morning! Scared the crap out of one of the electricians working on our backup generators.
BTW Snafu weighs 248 lbs. Who said school isn't fun any more.

Snafu's brother was Fubar. Sadly fubar was crushed by a Waste Management Truck when its Battery died under the back tires.
Now Fubar would have been a great running back! Fast low to the ground and scarry fast.

Nice wee sailer Don. Is that your name for the boat? If not are you going to rename it. I'm sure the Guru's would have some nice suggestions. Well, some of them would be nice anyway!

Tom your GS is smoking that basket. Hope you guys get to go to State.

Tommy what a great looking 90! To me they have the best of both worlds, the interior I like and the front and rear facias that I like best. Nice!

Yes, its a nice compact model, not like my other one. I have a 25' C&C fixed keel cruiser/racer that costs me too much while its just sitting still in the water or on the hard. I hate to sell the C&C as it is a classic racer from the early 70s and is in excellent condition, but boats are not like cars unless they are laminated mahogony Chris Crafts.

Changing names on boats can be superstitious. The name Achillea is from the flower better known as yarrow that was used to heal the wounds of mythological characters like Achilles. ( I just got all that from Wikipedia) So the person that named this boat must have used it to heal his wounds. Therefore, I will probably keep the name. I need all the healing I can get!!!

My other boat - Can you tell I'm getting spring fever?

Nice Don! We out here in flyover country don't know all that boating stuff. Although back in the day my Dad owned a 22 ft daysailer with a swing keal that we kept on a big lake in Kansas. I spent many hours beating up wind or running wing and wing with the spinnaker deployed. It was a lot of fun making the wind work for us. I always loved healing it over and controlling the boat with the sheets and the tiller. Also great times with my Dad who is gone now.

Good stuff! My sailing lingo may be off a bit but it has been a long time.

Yep.. first half of the weekend, going to work for a special meeting for osha? the second half, joining the other "polacks" for the Christening on Sunday.. otherwise not much going on.. I have everything ready to re-install my trans when there is a free weekend, and a little less ice and I can get it back up here to the shop.. even though the roads/weather is not ideal for driving, I'd like to have it all set for spring before I get to busy to work on my own stuff..
