OK, Andy was supposed to be test driving his '92 today. He said he was going to head to the local Target and if that worked well, on to Fastenal. It is noon PST now and no word from him.

Is he:

1. Having so much fun driving his 'vette again that he for got to stop at Target and is 1/2 way to Oregon ?
2. Broke down in the Target parking lot (let's hope not) ?
3. Still sound asleep ?
4. Trying to decide if he really wants to see if the car will start and run properly ?

Let's all hope for number 1.

Or, it might actually be #2, and he's reading a magazine on a porcelain throne.

Ok... the scoop.

We took about a 30 mile loop, on streets, to run a bunch of errands. This was all rather congested stop and go with lots of heat. I wanted to really tax the system, and an 80mph freeway isn't going to do that. It will take these surface streets to mess with its head.

During that, I ran the AC, sometimes not. Engine temps never got over 230, cause the fans would kick in and cool everything right down. It was near 80F today.

There were a half dozen stops with restarts.

From my estimates, it didn't skip a beat. Ran like a top. Smooth, no funny noises, not idle drops, nothing!

If this passes another stress like today, I will feel a good bill of health is in order.

It sure has been a nightmare... but I have been here before.

Last month, ran great for the same loop, then just flat out fell apart 2 days later.

Wow Andy, you were running late if these guys thought you would've been to Target by noon PST. Actually guys, when I tripped over Andy and T at 1700hrs at our local watering hole, he was still talking about making it out to Target. For the record though, he had been to Fastenal; thanks for me 1/4-28s Bro!

Day two... two more test drives.

Shorter, but still starts and stops.

It's rather amazing, but it seems to be running better now than it has in quite a while. I can't point at any one thing that had failed, but there is a punch that has been missing. Perhaps the punch is a case of everything is back to normal... vs all screwed up!

If all continues in this manner, I will be about 100% certain that the Dynaspark was the cause of all this grief.

Regardless, its not shown any problems.

Will update again tomorrow. Over time, if this trend continues, I will stop updating on a daily basis... but right now, it seems appropo.

Coming in late, but it was the optispark replacement? I thought the replacements had been upgraded?

By the way, I couldn't log on today as Safari said the page could not be found...all day.

I am using a DynaSpark... and it was sent back for repairs.

So far... so good! Another test drive, about 20 miles, no problems!!!

This is getting almost exciting!

No drives today. I will do so tomorrow, tho.

I did start it and tuck it away into the garage. It's supposed to rain tonight and the CTS (lovely car) has gone home to its snug little garage.

But today, started RIGHT up and sounded/felt perfect. I cannot be more happy.

Forgot a story to share from yesterday.

I have a standing breakfast with my friends Bob and Anson. Bob is former colleague, and Anson is an old friend of Bob's. great guys, all the way around.

Our waitress was lamenting that her 1999 Blazer was old and worn out. Admittedly, it had a radiator failure on the freeway, over heated, contaminated the ATF, burning up the engine AND the trans.

I suggested she call about and find a used trans for it. There has to be tons... but she was saying things like "it's old and has a lot of miles."

I commented, it's a 1999, that's not very old, how many miles? "About 95k." HA! I said: "See that Vette out there", she replies, "oooh, that's cool, I like Vettes!", "thanks, however, that's a 1992, and has 181k miles on it." She was stunned to the point of being speechless.

So... 1999 with 95k ain't nothing, toots... Anson then added, "My 89 Volvo has 315k miles on it!"

And I have ridden in that little tank... it is amazingly tight and solid. Very well built car.
