Good morning gurus.

Welcome to the last day of the month. Where did it go?

Woke up to cold temps in the low 20's and snow.

For you baseball fans today is Jackie Robinson's birthday.

Word of the Day Thursday, January 31, 2013

jackanapes\ JAK-uh-neyps \, noun;

1. An impertinent, presumptuous person, especially a young man; whippersnapper.

2. An impudent, mischievous child.

3. Archaic . An ape or monkey.

Origin:
Jackanapes is a circuitous eponym. In the 1300s, it literally meant "jack of the apes" and was the nickname of William de la Pole, Duke of Suffolk, whose badge was an ape's clog and chain. The word acquired the sense of "mischievous boy" two hundred years later.

Lets all try to have a good day.

Good Morning CGs!

Last night we took the kids to see Disney on Ice downtown. They really enjoyed themselves and had a good time. I was impressed at the show. It was very well done. Basically told a few different stories of the Disney characters, had choreographed dancing/skating, good costumes, props, story telling, etc. They really put on a nice show for the price of the tickets. We went on opening night during the week so we saved a lot. I think the tickets including Ticketmaster fees (which are nuts) were around $18-19 each. We only had to buy three, since RR#2 was small enough (?) to fit on my lap. But we spent as much in souvenirs and popcorn as the tickets cost...lol.

RR#1 is still battling her unknown flu type virus. She's has it since late Monday. Thought she was better because she was good at the show, but came home and yakked before she went to sleep. Hope she's better today, it's heartbreaking to see her so lethargic and not like herself.

Cold as heck here today, around 18. Certainly not the 60 we saw two days ago during this whole goofy weather pattern. Oh well.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Yesterday's weather fizzled out a bit by the time it reached here, but it did drop a bunch of rain.

Now we get snow and below freezing temps again.

Things are out of sorts today as I await the plans from Bradenton. My wife had to commit or cancel an educational booth at a native plant program here in South Fl. I told her to do the booth and I will go as our families rep, should it be scheduled for this week. My sister is trying to come up with how her remains will be dealt with. Since my niece had no money, her brother has no money, my sister and BIL have no money, I think they have limited options. We suggested cremation, an urn and a memeorial service. That can be done for around $1500. Dting ain't cheap. Full funeral with casket and grave can easily go $10K. I love funeral homes directness. We are sorry for your loss. Now, how can we help you?

Yo! Started off with a dental appointment, what fun! I'd imagine the day can only get better from here on out. It will only take one hand to count the degrees today, so it's good to be indoors.

Brush and floss, Gurus!

Funerals are really expensive and they hit you at a hard time emotionally, so you are more likely to make poor financial choices. I have told my wife multiple times when I die I want to be cremated and have a memorial service. Hopefully later rather than sooner

Lovely Arkansas weather here too... summer one day, and we're due snow this weekend. Go figure. Then spring next week. Hell I don't know whether to barbecue or bundle up. My truck parts are in and started on, total for those came to exactly $487. That puts me $4987 into the '00 Sierra Z71 Ext Cab SLT. I"m a happy gal. And the butt-warmers are nice too

And in the Superbowl news:

Local 49ers fan spends $5,900 on Superbowl tickets from CraigsList.
She gets back an envelope with a pic of the Ravens,

Additionally:

Feds target fake Superbowl merchandise, recover $13.8 mil in fakes.
Your $49.99 jersey should have cost $250
