Good morning gang.

Chilly here this morn. Temps in the low 30's. Chance of rain snow mix today.

Word of the Day Tuesday, March 12, 2013.

bevel\ BEV-uhl \ , noun;

1. irresolutely. noun:

1. the inclination that one line or surface makes with another when not at right angles.

2. a surface that does not form a right angle with adjacent surfaces.

3. (of a lock bolt) the oblique end that hits the strike plate.

4. (of a lock with a beveled bolt) the side facing in the same direction as the bevel at the end of the bolt.

5. bevel square.

6. an adjustable instrument for drawing angles or adjusting the surface of work to a particular inclination.

7. Printing. beard (def. 5).

verb:

1. to cut or slant at a bevel: to bevel an edge to prevent splintering.

adjective:

1. Also, beveled ; especially British, bevelled. oblique; sloping; slanted.

Origin:

The origin of bevel , which entered English in the 1500s, is uncertain, though it could possibly come from the Old French term biaiser meaning "to slope" or "to make slanting." It is unclear which came first: the adjective or the noun form.

Here's something to start your day off with.

Good Morning CGs!

Not much to report here. Trans cooler has still not arrived yet and I'm starting to get pizzed. Supposedly it shipped on Wednesday but there was no tracking number. I emailed them last night to see about it. I did talk to my friend about helping my fabricate a frame and mounting tabs for it. He is happy to help and suggested using round stock for the frame so it doesn't interfere with air flow. Smart, huh? I never would have thought of that myself. Looking forward to getting it done.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Greetings! Day 131 of No Yard Work - winter continues. They say we are in for a light dusting of snow. Good thing, it's been at least 24 hours since we had one of those. Kill me now.

Have a good one, Gurus!

Morning gurus...I'm up, just barely. I don't know if the tiredness comes from the time change or just that I'm still tired from driving yesterday. Lots on the agenda today, retrieve some cabinets from school and start spraying on the finish. Weather doesn't look like it is going to cooperate so that will make the job tougher.

A harsh winter just gives you a better appreciation of the spring, summer and fall. I don't know if that's true or not since we don't really know what winter means down here.

So far my plans for the day have failed. It's after 11:00 an all I've got done is drinking my coffee, taking a shower, getting dressed and taking out the trash because it's pick up day. It's a good thing I'm not on payroll or I'd have to fire my ass.

Well, I got the cabinets sanded, and the second coat sprayed on. While I was waiting, I installed some splash guards the Cadillac. Genuine GM so they fit like a glove.

The wife came home from work with the mail....we got a letter from the State of Kansas, Dept of Revenue. They were "adjusting" our return. I read the letter and accompanying docs, and couldn't make heads or tails of it, so I called our taxman. Faxed the stuff to him, now I'm waiting to hear from him.

Looked to me like instead of getting a refund we are going to owe some money.

With a whole lota F'in work, probably take all day, it's EVEN in the door jam, wheels exhaust tips and 1/32 in thick behind the rear wheels.

Tries some different things, the only thing that cuts it is laquer thinner.

Pisses me off, it had to come from one of the 3 support trucks dropping a puddle, I saw them early and hadn't run over any yellow line. The spray truck was in the left lane painting the outside line and I went over into an exit ramp to get further away from him.

Looks like laquer thinner isn't hurting the clear coat in the door jam and Maguiar's seems to bring the shine back.

But screw it for today.

More health insurance fun - my wife had a meeting with the insurance broker their company uses, and asked the broker what she thought was going to happen with premiums next year. The broker said they are seeing estimates of anywhere from 40 to 100% increases. Luvley.

What a jerk.....talking about the Pepsi thing. I didn't even think it was that funny.

Taxman didn't get back to us today. I did get the cabinets delivered. Tomorrow I'll go back and install them, then that job is finished.

Oh, come on.

That's the least thing you should do to a used car salesman.

Now, if Craig Jackson was in there, he should have slid it into a light pole.

The 928

It's inured and gets a temporary tag.

The vanity tag will say FOR KEV since we are redoing it in memory of my brother Kevin. It was his dream, now ours. We called him Kev so the tag is appropriate.

Congrats and a very fitting tribute to your brother with the plate.

...really yellow and purple go pretty good together....just saying....

How do you get that off?

With a whole lota F'in work, probably take all day, it's EVEN in the door jam, wheels exhaust tips and 1/32 in thick behind the rear wheels.

Tries some different things, the only thing that cuts it is laquer thinner.

I've used WD40 and a plastic razor blade in the past, worked well if they are spots. YMMV.

Personally, I think Gordon (& Pepsi) are jerks for doing this to the poor guy.

I agree....but I couldn't stop laughing

Had I known how expensive it was going to be to this point I would have probably left it in his garage. Let's just say it's coming in over budget but what the heck. It's only money. There is still plenty to be done but at least it's driveable. Engine, clutch, tires and brakes should all be reliable at this point. Need's some rear deck upholstery work, radio and speakers, paint touch ups (eventual repaint),some electical and a few more items. What's cool is the car will be 35 next year. Many 928's are low priced and expensive to maintain so a lot of them are not on the road anymore. This one is getting a sort of fresh start. The car will be right at home with the Corvettes. We have more into them than they're worth. I guess that's why they call it a hobby.
