I was up before the dawn. Wifey needed help loading up some plants to take with her to a show she's working this weekend. Took less than an hour. On my second cup of coffee now and I'll see how the day unfolds. We have wet streets from rain the past couple of days so I really don't want to go for a ride and mess up all the work I put in yesterday. I could sit on my ass today but I won't. To many things to do and they won't get done if I don't do them. You guys that have the day off, I hope you enjoy it.

Good Morning CGs!

Well yesterday was very productive. BIL came over around 7:30. Neighbor showed up at 8:30 (I wasn't expecting his help, so that was a nice surprise). Between the three of us, we were able to knock out the flooring in no time. My neighbor is a real perfectionist with his work, so I had zero worries about everything turning out well. He actually was more specific about fixing the bullnose than I was. He did a really nice job. I think we finished the floor around 3 pm for the most part and he left. Then I had to do the landing while BIL finished up the hallway. Then I had to touch up the paint on the walls (lots of scuffs from the hammer) and clean up while BIL installed the base trim. Then I trimmed the carpet back and secured that. The stair installers (screwed up again) made the bullnose about 1/16" too low on the bottom landing. So I have to sand the lip of the flooring down so the kids don't trip and then refinish it. I started sanding last night but need more sandpaper. So I finally finished up around 9 pm.

Today I need to pick up a few more feet of base trim and install that. Then fill a few nail holes and call it a day. My wife can paint the trim and baseshoe later.

Geeze, I was tired after doing all that, and I'm just as tired after typing it.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Wow that looks great Matt...can't show my wife that or she might get big ideas....well I screwed up my back yesterday at work so I must wait untill monday to go see the chiroquacker.....I told her I better just lay around and watch the Masters today and try and heal up....yeah that went over well...

Any of you guys have any expieriance with hanging 50" TV's on the wall. What kind of wall mount did you use? I need one that will swivel left and right because the wall is not the one right ahead of us. That wall has a fireplace in it.

Took the GS into see the tax man yesterday and wonder of wonders we don't have to pay in as much as I thought. Very happy and don't know why and did not question him much on it. He said something about switching over from cash to accrual of which I'm thinking why didn't we do that a long time ago.......just smile and write the checks....

On the way in I saw a white later C4 headed west and the best one was a Sunfire yellow 66 coupe headed west just like the old days...very cool to see it out on the road. Had a black C6 Z06 flash his lights at me in town and I got a wave in to him. The headlights on these C6's are amazing in how well they light up the road at night. I like um.

Ok, I have rambled on enough...have a great day Guru's....and Tommy I hope you don't have to pay for that Nevermind later......

That is a good looking floor. I've been thinking of redoing my living and dining room in wood also. I have a small woodshop, the tools and am a half decent wood worker but the cars have been calling me to the road as well as my just being lazy. I do take retirement seriously.

This morning I woke up to another 7" of fresh snow and 23 degrees. The stuff from last weekend isn't all gone. Although, the past few days it had been in the upper 30s and low 40s. We do need the moisture here in western ND and the farmers are smiling. It has kind of quit snowing for now but maybe more later today and tonight. My Brittany just looked out the window, turned around, sighed and went to sleep. Not a bad thought but I have to do my Sunday morning crosswords.

Lesson 1. - Don't wear your watch.
Lesson 2. - Throw away your cell phone.

I'd post Lesson 3 but it's cutting into my DNBFS.

I washed the C4 yesterday so, today I'm going down into the shop and stare at that claybar again. But it's really nice driving weather.

Or I could get side tracked by staring at the 67.

Howdy! It's snowing. Again. If we hadn't gone to Puerto Vallarta to get away from this for a bit, I'd be an ax murderer by now.

Way to go, Matt - the floor looks great!

Marcus, I have a couple Peerless mounts that I'm happy with. Shop around on the 'net for a mount, as Best Buy, etc. seem to be very proud of theirs.

Have a good day, all!

I had to smile. I am partially compliant. I do wear a watch but my cell is turned off. Most months it has less than 10 minutes of use.

Not sure what his lesson 3 is but 2A is make sure you have ice cold beer....

Good looking floor Matt!

Ultraman... I used a mount on the wall for my tv I got at Wal-Mart. They are around $150 or was when I got one. You can get them that are stationary, that swivel side to side and some even have extension arms on them. Make sure you get one rated for the weight of your TV and hit the studs.

I plan some DNBFS today - still have the top down on the car from yesterday, might mow the yard, might go after some solar lights for the yard, might mow the yard... not quite sure just yet. Some dork texted me at 8:25 this morning - might as well had been 4am. I was sleeping good. Wanted to sleep in today - that has totally screwed up my day thus far. Want a nap already.

Just got back from HD after picking up a few items.

I neglected to answer TB's question from yesterday. It is solid 3/4" oak, 3" wide and prefinished. We bought it at Menard's and it's from "Great Lakes Wood Floors". Durability is about the same as traditional floors, maybe slightly under (guess that depends on how many coats of poly the installer uses). Overall for the cost and ease of install it's definitely worth it to us.

Years and years ago they used to shellac the floors. When you sanded off the old coat the dust that was left was highly flamable. We called it pafoo powder. If you ignited it on a drop it went PAFOO! See what fun we used to have before video games?

You mean like M80's and Silver Salutes with water proof fuses..... We used to discretly drop an M80 over the side of a ski boat and try to knock the girls off their skies when it went off, it was like a depth charge....hahaahha....what fun!

I'm old now so if I have told these stories you will have to PM me and I will write them on my list so I don't use them again......

Hey guys...after church this morning, Rosie and I drove on down to her folks. Got here about noon and they had lunch ready. We took the Corvette, a beautiful day.

Matt, the floor looks great. The finish that they put on there, is an epoxy? Tougher than poly. A bit of experienced help makes things goes fast. Marcus, man take it easy. Back problems suck.

Check out Tigerdirect.com for the TV mount. That's where I bought those four that I put up last month at that church.

We'll have a nice drive home in few hours. L8R

The trick is to hold them very lightly while aiming or your fingers can get burnt.

And if you hold one out the window @ 60mph. it will fly beside you for a few seconds.

Help an old dude out. It used to be you went door to door to look for a job or mail in applications. Those days are long gone. Today there are job seeking websites and many companies post their vacancies online. So what are the best sites to find open positions in a big market ...... Say like ...... Miami. You know I'm behind the curve on this because I haven't looked for a job in over 30 years. It's not for me by the way. I have plenty of work without holding a job.

Couldn't hold them in your fingers huh????

The car thing was neat, we had a running battle with 3 cars on the interstate.

Having a bottlerocket go off 10 ft. in front of your grill was fun.

No kidding...I'd be in trouble these days. The old mail in or take in your resume days are long gone. Now it is emailed and if you are lucky someone contacts you for an interview. You can send out a bunch of them and never get a hit. It's got to be depressing for these kids.....does your son have a field that he is trained in or went to school for? It can still come back to who you know or a reference.

My daughter went through that for a long time and finally got some interviews and then a job.....There was always the kind of work I could do...driving trucks and working construction, drilling wells....blue collar stuff and I enjoyed it but my Dad who had a Docterate kept pushing me to finish college and eventually I did.

Took me four terms to get through college....the Nixon term the Carter term and the Reagan and Ford terms....botta bing....

I had it easy back then, I had "Headhunters" calling me: "Hey, do you want to interview with.....?" .

Course, I usually look for the easy way out.

He's got a BA in Computer Science (MIS) and a Business minor. He has worked for the Dept of the Navy and Carnival with stints at Staples, Target, Nike, and a few other temp jobs. He walked away from the Navy job. Didn't like cubicle work and the high stress environment. Walked away from his Carnival job because of some internal policies and a wish to elevate within the company. He's trying to figure out his goals and aspirations for the future. Me? I'd like to put my boot up his aspirations. He doesn't know it yet but he's in my sights and up for a rude awakening. Believe me when I say that you don't want to be in my sights. I have a plan ............. He's living on borrowed time.

My best friend in high school had a 60 back then. We spent hours fixing that thing up. His was white and he had a red and white roll and tuck interior put in it.....327/340 and we converted it to a 4 speed. I ought to try and send the link to him.

Back home from the in-laws. Had a good visit. Mom was very alert and seemed to be with it.
