Good morning gang.

Hope everyone had a good weekend. Should be nice here today with a chance of showers and temps in the 60's and 70's.

Word of the Day Monday, May 06, 2013

spang\ spang \, adverb;

1. directly, exactly: The bullet landed spang on target.

Origin:

Spang is an Americanism of uncertain origin. It first entered English in the 1830s.

Good Morning CGs!

Should be very nice today with a high around 72*. I stopped over at a buddy's shop yesterday and he was kind enough to give me some leftover brake line he had laying around so that saved me a trip to the parts store. Just the right length, too. He's like me, never throws anything away so he was happy I could use it. I was happy, too.

A pretty uneventful weekend for me overall. Work/wife/kids/house tends to get in the way of most fun things so it keeps me out of trouble

I did start looking at new(er) cars again. It's been over a year since I said I'd wait, so time is coming up. I still like the Audi wagon but I saw that Acura made a nice looking wagon as well. A few things to consider. Not ready to buy quite yet, just looking.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

The bartender yells, "Hey you forgot to pay!".

The platypus turns and says, "Put it on my bill."

Morning guys...Put it on my bill, that's funny! Last week for Seniors. Got baseball today after school and I am taking the Corvette over after school to have tint put on the windows. They are doing it tomorrow, so I'll have to drive back over tomorrow to pick it up.

Weather is supposed to be very spring-like this week. Halleluiah! Oldest daughter turns 37 this week....damn I'm getting old........

Good Morning Gurus. Great first weekend home. Had a chance to do much needed yard work, wash and detail the vette and drive it. For the past few months the vehicle of choice was a Chevy Suburban kinda of a modified urban assault truck.
Today is suppose to be 75 and Sunny. Have to head over to the VA Clinic in South Bend for a check up and answer the typical questions about stress and flashbacks.....so I tell them flashbacks about teaching Wood Shop in High School with 70 year old machinery and trying to motivate kids that have been given everything and had to work for none of it!!!!Trying to communicate with people that refuse to learn english and insist to converse in their native tongue Opps!! not good to get into before I talk to the VA ))) On the bright side I haven't been called mother f%&$@# in 22 months.
Have a great day guys.

Matt...if you are looking at wagons may I suggest the CTS-V Wagon as a grocery getter.....you can take care of a couple of things with that car.

Yikes TBee I'm ancient and my oldest kid is only 26....hmmmm you were busy early on......

After I hand rubbed the Corvette about 3 times I am kinda sore today. It's hard to get a good pic of the shine especially with a phone camera...but here is a pic...

Ag is back up and going today so gotta go....have a safe one Guru's...

The blood letting is over. It's a cool 65* in The Magic City.Probaly get up around the mid 80's. Blue skies. Nice. Took the 90 out for a spin. The throttle response in the cool weather is excellent. Some guy in a Suburban came over on me on the way home. Damned low profile. They never seem to see you. You always have to be on guard. Well, I was Mr mellow. The guy pulled up in the other lane and gave me a "Sorry" wave. I'm in a good mood so the "your number one" hand motion was never deployed. Just braked hard and veered left. I've had plenty of practice in SoFlo.

Howdy! Been busy ever since I got to the office - hopefully that will make the day pass quickly. My Maxima should be done today - I'm ready to turn in the loaner. I'm resisting temptation to go take this for a test drive:

Meanwhile, Tommy looked svelte in his spangs.

Good day yesterday (at least I wasn't in the hospital).
A friend of mine brought out a real IMSA GT to the track.
A Porsche 914 (like Tommy should own).

Unfortunately, Eric (an ex C5 driver) took his Nissan GTP off at 120 (he's know for stupid moves).

The car went 5 feet in the air before landing and bending the front frame. may be totaled.

I've seen that '11 for sale for a while now. I agree, if I were going to drop that much dough, it would have to be a 3LT. Unless I have a serious change of heart, I will probably wait until next year to see what the C7 does to C6 pricing.

Friday I licked out and found all the stainless steel molding for the windshield and rear window on the 67.

Unfortunately, the Op took the car to a mechanic (stupid) to fix water leaks and 3/4's of the molding strips were filled with white dum-dum.
it took 4 hours to remove the crap and the paint that was on it since the Op let a bodyshop paint the car (stupid) and they didn't know the "art of using masking tape".

I hand polished all of it and now have to consider buffing but that will remove the Flash Chrome that GM put on.

I don't know what they will do.....a lot of folks don't like the C7's so the demand for the C6's may stay up but sooner or later things will swing around....of course the lower the millage the more they will want.

I paid 44K for mine with 21K miles a year ago in July. If that helps you get a guage on where things are at. It was not a bad deal but I liked the car and it had the 3LT and the two tone interior plus the Heritage package and the chrome wheels.....I would try to stay with a 2 color int if possible. The red and black is real nice but not a lot of them around.

I did buy a lottery ticket on a new 13 427 anniversary vert the other day....1000 tickets sold.....one in a thousand..hows my luck running.....? Probably not that good....

Undecided right now M. Most of the molding looks good at 5 feet. ( wish my POS Pentax would take good pics).

I have the equipment to fix the 2 dings and polish. SS can be hammered, filed and sanded with 600 & 2000 to bring it back to perfect. I also have a buffer.

The whole plating thing is wallet scary, just the bumpers are $1k plus other chrome, cad plate, gold cad, etc.

I'm looking at cad (zinc) plating at home, about $300 for the setup.

The Flash Chrome on the Stainless takes a knowledgeable plater since it's not the normal copper-nickel-chrome deal.
It's chrome directly on the SS. So, the surface needs to be perfect before the plater gets it.

I also found the sunvisors, laying in an open box, filthy.
The chrome swivels, screws/washers were rusty.

I'm again amazed at EvapoRust.

I has to make a tool to pull the screws (cut a slot in a screwdeiver to remove the screws and finishing washers. Pulled the swivels, soaked all those in Evapo overnite and polished them with Mothers Mag Wheel and a 3/4 in buffing pad on the Dremel clamped into a vice.

Simple Green again rescued the vinyl.

They really look brand new -- more bucks saved.

Hey guys.....are we talking about evaporating our....? I don't need that, I need something that works the other way.

Our local Chiropractor sent his massage therapist up here to the school to give us, for Teacher Appreciation Week, a free 10 minute massage. Just got back from mine, and I feel very renude........sorry, play on words here. Actually I booked an hour session for Thursday.

Marcus, the GS is looking good. Brad how serious are you looking? Either one of those two looks good, but just get the option you want. Bill, more work down, it's getting closer all the time.
