Good morning gang.

Cooler here today and it feels good. We should be mostly cloudy with some rain showers today and temps in the low 70's.

Well I have tomorrow off so I'm looking forward to a nice long weekend. We don't have much planned just going to go the campground and relax.

Word of the Day Thursday, May 23, 2013

genethliac\ juh-NETH-lee-ak \, adjective;

1. of or pertaining to birthdays or to the position of the stars at one's birth.

Origin:

Genethalic derives from the Greek root genéthli meaning "pertaining to one's birth." It is unrelated to the word gene.

Good Morning CGs!

Supposed to be 57 here today. Go figure that one out?

I have an extra long weekend off planned ahead. I took tomorrow off so I can pull the trans. Should go smoothly since we have a lift at my buddy's shop. I'm told that after that I'm buying lunch I can deal with that.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Howdy! I drove the Maxima, which sits outside - I have to drop it off to get a new windshield installed later this afternoon. Today is May 23. I had to use the effing steering wheel heater. This is the most ridiculous spring I can recall - enough, already!

Keep warm, Gurus!

Morning guys...it's cool and cloudy here today, not as cool as Brad but upper 60's. Feels wonderful this morning, cool breeze flowing in the windows.

I have work to do again today. Cabinet pieces being delivered, sanding and finishing, get new tires on the PU. Tonight I have to pack for the trip to KC.

I better get to it.

How old are you today missy? Tuwa daddy, as she holds two little fingers up.....I do miss those days....

It's cold and cloudy and I think I know where they hid the ax......got corn seed in the ground that has been there for weeks and it refuses to come up because its so cold.....we will be working into October this year to get this crop in the bin...... not bitching just stating facts.....

What's the big plans for the weekend? Not much here since we are partied out from the last two weeks..I'm thinking some Corvette driving and relaxing indoors with an electric blanket wrapped around me.....Niiiice!

Oh well....let's get out and enjoy ourselves and be thankful for all we have and for the brave men and women who have sacrificed to make it so......

Congrats to Volzfan, and to Trae......for NOT being a new daddy!

Marcus, we are headed to KC as soon as Rosie gets off work (about noon) tomorrow. I am going to tear into the daughters kitchen and replace counter-tops. Then we will evaluate what needs to be done with her bathroom. Kitchen/dining room floors are on tap to be redone as well. I guess they have decided to stay in this house a while.

Good moanin

I had an easy delivery this morning, that is until the a radiator hose failed. The good thing was that it happened in a place where I could pull over and park safely. My wife was with the crew just a couple of cars up, and the parts houses were locally accessible. She dropped off the guys while I took off the hose. She came back and picked me up and we got what we needed to get it on the road again. Total delay of about 2 hours. I brought the truck home to wash it and do a little routine maintenance. Might as well since I've already had the hood up this morning.

I just now watched that video - I didn't know he could sing like that... Agreed.... WTF....

Beautiful day here - would LOVE to be at a fishing hole somewhere or just laying in the sun. Ton of yard work to do, have some visitors coming in this weekend, looking forward to that - talked to them for a long time online but never met them finally get to. He membered up here recently, him and his wife and daughter are driving through. Got the Vette out today for the first time in like two weeks. It was yellow from all the pollen. One more thing I need to do - clean that sucker.

I have been given the duty of designing a suttle stripe set up for an '87 ElCamino. The car will be charcoal grey, so is the interior. All the chrome stays but will not be two tone. Possibly some type of slight design on the hood. Does not want black or white stripe. I'm thinking couple shades lighter, almost 'ghosted'... car will have a slight metallic finish I think so I think maybe the stripe should not. Any ideas? To think I wanted to design cars when I grew up, I put that down on my fourth grade exit thingy. But - this is wearing me out...

Speaking of Indiana. How about them HEAT? 103-102 in overtime. That game was close from the first inbound. I got a kick out of everybody playing up the HEAT as thugs. Like all the other NBA teams are gentlemen. Plenty of elbows and checks flying around the league. Nowadays you go to a b-ball game and they start using plays from a hockey playbook.

I think a lighter stripe would be harder to ghost. Most of the ghost stuff is done with pearls (I assume this is a vinyl stripe).

I've done ghost flames but I prefer painting.

What color's the interior? That's important I think.

That he doesn't want black makes it harder,

Blue pearl would ghost nicely but it should be painted on.

Darker charcoal would be subtle. Possibly lighter charcoal.

Does he want the stripes to stand out? Or blend in?

Gary's 65 Mustang is charcoal silver with black stripes, I think it looks killer.

But when you start talkin' colors, everyone opinion is different.

First one's silver on silver but the red pin stripe really sets it off.

And some charcoal.

I had a pic of a Camaro but I just can't have that fugly front end in my computer.

My bad, I should have mentioned - this is to be paint....
The darker color on the top and bottom of the car is what will be on the entire car. Interior is the same, but has a slight maroon piping on the seats. I HATE it and don't really want it on the outside. It was some generic crap the factory did to make that interior blend with lots of color schemes in my opinion. I'd like to see him get the piping changed to whatever my stripe ends up being.
My friend that owns a body shop has a friend who dropped off that car and they gathered up and called me to have me come look at it.
Shown is the car as is n ow and the wheels that will be going on it. He doesn't want anything bold like a black or a white, I might could sell him on the blue but he don't want anything wide either, he wants away from the two tone look. I also don't feel that I should start at the very front, but perhaps a bit back like maybe right behind the front wheel ....If there is anything to be on the hood at all it has to also be subtle and probably follow the lines of the hood where the bevel is. He hates those wide over the top stripes that everybody has. A dual stripe would be okay, one wider than the other or possibly a stripe that fades or changes shape slightly to the rear.
The man is probably around 70. He wants a clean look although not shaved. all the chrome will remain even the piece in the back that enhances the two tone stripe. My design will have to work around that piece of chrome unless I can design something that will convince him to leave that one piece off. I'd personally like to see it go. Don at the shop needs to know as there are studs there that either have to stay on or come off.
The three things I'm thinking of are a couple shades lighter pearl ghosted, or a matte couple shades darker, or a slate blue sort of that isn't all that far from the car color but will be a blue hue but metallic but not bass-boaty, very fine.

Letty, This guy wants subtle, I think the chrome should go (especially since it's not going to be 2 tone).

If your painter's good enough, you could do a fade at the bottom third of the car (ala Chip Foose). You take the base color and mix some black with it in 3 darker shades.

Here's w/o the chrome.
And a fade that Chip did to the bottom of this Chevelle .

Hood, subtle, silver pearl maybe.

For some of the stuff I've used go here for color ideas:
http://www.houseofkolor.com/speedshapes/speedshapes_shimrin.jsp

It is pricy though.

If you find something you go here to see if you can get it in small qtys. (they are a Guru sponsor).

And here for Auto Air colors (probably what was used on the flames on the El Camino above).

I like that fade but this dood is hell bent to keep his chrome. I can get him to lose that one piece but that's it remember he's old he likes his chrome lol
