Good morning gurus.

Looks like it's gonna be warm and muggy today. Temps in the 80's and hi humidity.

Not much else going on.

Mojo to our latest round of tormado victims.

Word of the Day Wednesday, May 29, 2013

battology\ buh-TOL-uh-jee \, noun;

1. wearisome repetition of words in speaking or writing.

Origin:

Battology entered English in the late 1500s from the Greek word battologia meaning "speaking stammeringly" from battos meaning "stammerer" and -logia meaning "one who speaks (in a certain manner)."

Good Morning CGs!

Well, the painting was going well yesterday until I started cleaning up. I used a new tape this time that BIL recommended to me. It's called green frog tape, as opposed to the standard blue 3m I always use. As I pulled it off, I got a lot of tearing along the edges of the paint. Darn it. The air was very humid which I'm sure had something to do with it, and I did score my edges with a razor first. Oh well. Touch ups this evening after work.

The last 5 days have been out of character for me as far as my diet/routine. I took all 5 off from working out, I ate whatever junk I wanted, and I didn't weigh myself once or track my calories. Amazingly I didn't gain any weight. I did work a lot outside and in the house on projects so I wasn't completely sedentary. Today I am back on the normal routine and I think the days off will do my body good. It is always wise to take some time off to recover.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Howdy! It is foggy and it's supposed to rain later, but I drove the Vette anyway for the halibut. I figure worst case it will get filthy and give me a good excuse to wash it.

Matt, I tried that green tape once and was not happy with it, either.

Rainy and overcast skies is the forecast through Friday. Somebody tell the weatherman this ain't Seattle. Meeting our A/C guy at 09:30. He's gonna check out the problem at the tenants house. Projected between $200 and $500, if I'm lucky.

I like froggy, have a couple rolls in the shop for non-critical car stuff. But use the good, 3M green tape mostly.

The blue stuff leaks at the edges but they've improved it a bit in the last couple years.

I think you have to pull the tape on latex either when it's wet or wait until it's totally dry.

And you have to pull the tape back over itself so it will cut the edge.

I recently posted a frog as the critter of the day. Had to look for an alternate. Frog eater sounds good.

As a young lad in caddy camp, I hung with the wrong crowd (as was the case through the first several decades of my life). Sometimes instead of caddying, we'd go down to the stream and catch frogs. One of the guys who no doubt went on to become a seriel killer, would place a tree branch in the mud and impale frogs from the smaller branches, in effect creating a frog tree. It's one of those things you never forget.

I was able to do an eyelid check for about an hour. They worked as intended by blocking out the reduced daylight of the overcast skies. The gentle rains offered sufficient background noise to ensure a positve test result.

Nice weather here. I started the day with digging out more rocks in preparation for another pallet of Emerald Zoysia.
Then as it started to get a bit hot I changed projects and pressure washed the lower level back porch. Since we have a total of 4 porches that only leaves one more to pressure wash. The porch off the solarium on the side of the house is going to get an all new deck, probably not until fall though.

Marcus, you're out taking pictures of that shit????
go get a measuring tape, drop yer pants, measure carefully that set there and post a pic of that! I guarantee yours are bigger than anyone else's to be out there taking tornado photos! I'd be hid in the clothes dryer in the little closet in here.

On a lighter note, have you seen that new Firestone commercial with the old beater blue vans competing for the parking spot? Seems some of the ads are getting better lately. And then there's those Fiat commercials...
Speaking of ads, I was talked into helping a friend move a bunch of crap from a dood's storage shed this evening. Tons of boxes and some shelving. In the boxes you ask? Old National Geographics starting in the 30's, Old Life Magazines, some other books, complete years, and then several boxes of old car ads in plastic starting in the 1920s..... I'm thinking I'm gonna get stuck with putting these things on Ebay and what not. He wants them sold and they've very interesting. They have prices on them but the man that had them priced has been deceased for at least 10 years. Anything is pure profit, these were given to my friend. Lucky sucker. Why can't this happen to me?
Same friend before I left put a birthday present in my truck, has been teasing me about getting old - went and got a quad cane, painted it black, stuck Ford emblems on it from my old Ford I totaled, and added a tiny American flag, a bicycle horn and a itty bitty clip on headlight. Too funny! That sucker turns 62 in December - revenge will be mime

Evening folks...it's been exciting here too. "rotational storm south of town and a confirmed tornado north of town this evening. Not as close to us as Marcus', and they never blew the sirens. Out here in open country, we can see them from 10 miles away.

With that said, we got rain. A beautiful rain a little over an inch. We'll take that each day for a month, and maybe it would start to break the drought we've been in for 5 years.

It was another busy day here. I got the cabinets assembled, the door parts machined, the drawer pieces cut, the counter top material unloaded and several other jobs taken care of. Tomorrow, assemble the doors, machine the drawer parts and assemble, start work on the counter tops and hopefully machine some parts for another cabinet that was added to the list of things for this job.

My arse is dragging, I'm headed to bed.

Oh Andy, the place is really looking up. Keep up the good work.
