Good morning gang.

I had this all ready to go and tried to preview it and lost it all. Just one of those days. Lets try again.

Wet here this morning with showers on and off all day with highs in the upper 50's.

Word of the Day Wednesday, November 06, 2013

adscititious\ ad-si-TISH-uhs \, adjective;

1. added or derived from an external source; additional.

Origin:
Adscititious comes from the Latin word adscītus which meant "derived, assumed, foreign."

Bonus today is The Hair of the Dog: 9 Dog Idioms with Real Bite.

So lets get this day started.

Howdy! After all the hubbub from the weather terrorists, we got about an inch of snow overnight. I guess in their defense, they did get about 11" out west of here. And moronic commuters drove as if we'd gotten 11". Anyway, it should melt today.

Have a good day, Gurus!

No snow here but it feels like it could....but I'm not going to allow it....Big rain yesterday which will set the lawn and plants up for the winter I'm thinking....but it has stopped all our field work and its getting late.....

Brad I read today that Minnesota is on the verge of a historic win streak......the last time the Gophers won 4 straight Big 10 games was 1973. The coaches are calling for the fans to pack thier house on Saturday....Go Big Golden Gophers, Go Big Golden Gophers.....hmmmm...doesn't work quite as well as Go Big Red....Go Big Red....

Well I was going to work like a dog today but probably won't......they forgot one I think....we call the hot August summer days the dog days of summer out here.

Have a nice happy day Guru's....

My idea of "working like a dog". Edge on a Sunday morning. I think they had a Lassie marathon on Animal Planet.

Yessir, Tony Dungy was playing the last time the Gophers did that. We'll see - would be a nice boost for the program.

Good Morning CGs!

No snow here but some nasty cold rain. The car is sleeping in the garage as of yesterday. Kids are fed and they need to get washed up and dressed so I can get RR#1 off to school. I have a lady coming to the house later for my blood draw/physical for a new life insurance policy, too. Lots of little things to do.

Hope everyone has a great day!

OK, out of meeting......another waste of an hour. Good company, but a waste of time.

Tomorrow we are testing our students, each teacher has 8-10 students in class, and we administer the tests. Should take most of the morning. Then in the afternoon we begin our P-T conferences and go until 8pm (I think, maybe it's 9). We then we have Friday off, so I'll work on counter tops. Saturday, the plan is to go to the "city" and tear out two cabinets I installed three weeks ago (because the lady didn't listen to me) and install the new ones (the ones I tried to get her to do originally). Put up the crown molding, and then Sunday, hopefully, I'll do the counter top install and be finished with that job.

Happy Hump day to all my Guru friends.

Best time to fart

As the plane approaches the gate and everybody jumps out of their seat to grab their overhead bags just to stand around and do nothing till the door opens.

Rrrriippppp!

The funny ones are the people that try to charge to the front only to get a few steps before being cut off by the thundering herd.

Plane people are funny. The ones that travel all the time, the ones that travel to visit family, the ones that have never flown before, the tourist, the off duty pilot going home, the US Marshall, the people carrying animals, the people traveling with small children, the coughers, the sleepers, the really big people, and the list goes on. Every flight a new experience.

My wife has been hinting lately that maybe it's time I got a newer vehicle. I drive a 99 Yukon as my dd. The paint and dash are showing their age. The cheap plastic that GM used has met it's match in the warm Florida sun and is cracked in several places. The paint on the hood roof and sides from the windows up is toast. So far I have resisted an upgrade. This SUV is as reliable as Old Faithful. Batteries and tires along with the occasional fluid/filter changes is all it requires. It's just so reliable that I don't want to get rid of it. I use it as a work truck but is also called upon for picking people up from the airport and stuff like that. Can't do that in the sports cars. No passenger room or convenient luggage storage. It would have to be another full size SUV for shopping, transport, etc. I'm seriously thinking of just getting a dash pad and doing the $50 Rustoleum with roller paint job. The trucks only worth a couple of grand and I don't want to spend a couple of grand making it pretty. Really ..... it's just the patina.

Well, I got my errands accomplished this morning. Wife called while I was out and said "don't go out to lunch" with my son. So what did we do? Went out to lunch.

Shortly after we got home the new garbage disposal arrived so I installed that. The new internet modem arrived today but I can't install it until after 8 pm because that is when it will be activated. Always something to do.

Hope everyone has a great day!

She needs to get a nice newer Tahoe for company use and leave you to your beater....er I mean old Faithful....I'm the same way though...this summer when old green's engine blew at 225K I had to make the choice to put it out in the tree line or fix it up....in the end I couldn't part with it....it's out on soil sampling duty now earning its keep.

This should work for ya:

Hey Tommy, just put one of them new-fangled vinyl wraps on it. Maybe even add some advertising for the business to it.

My wife has been hinting lately that maybe it's time she got a newer husband. I look about 99. I'm really showing my age. I'm cheap. My skin has met it's match in the warm Florida sun and is cracked in several places. The hair is toast. So far she has resisted an upgrade. She calls me Old Faithful. Batteries in my hearing aid and heavy doses of Metamucil are all I require. She just can't figure out how to get rid of me. I used to work but now I just lay around and stuff like that. We can't do it in the sports cars. No belly room for me. She wants another husband for shopping, transport, etc. I'm seriously thinking of just getting her an immigrant houseboy for $50. I guess she could just clean me up, but it would cost more than a couple of grand, and I don't want to spend a couple of grand making me pretty. Really ..... it's just my patina.

+1
hilarious!

got a call from the neighbor, black dood that lives in a ghetto apartment at the end of the road was seen at my house leaving with something off my porch, they chased him, called the law, they chased him, he ran into his place, wont' come out, I went home in a hurry, pulled into the drive way - or tried to, - garbage truck in the way, took out the mailbox, fkd up the bed of the truck, nice #*(&#(*&fkn day.. ugly and raining here, cop was an ass - told me "what do you expect living here?" what the fk? I've been here 8+ years and NO trouble, ever till 3 weeks ago so he and I were outside yelling too, he started to leave and I yelled some more and chewed his ass out. So he said 'let's start over' and I said 'fine' so we started over. I'm mad as hell. And find out someone is stealing shit from some of them at the nursing home including the one I have there. mad as hell all over again. Can I hurry up and fkn die and get it over with already? Geez if life on earth is going to continue like this I'm done already.
In other news, the job offer I had - well he lowballed me, I countered he still lowballed, I declined, he called me in on a freelance basis on my days off. Fine with me.
Now I have three tiny part time jobs
