Yes, we experienced more snow last night. I don't know exactly how much, but enough for me to have to snowblow later today.

Last night around 7:15 my wife told me there was no hot water. Darn it. This is a $900 hot water heater that was new 3 years ago. I went to check on it and the gas was firing but no hot water. The electronic gas valve and wiring have been screwy in the past, so that must have been it, I figured. Regardless, I turned off the power and decided to drain the tank. I saw some sediment run out from the blow off valve and drain at the bottom, so it's always a good thing to drain and refill. Turned it back on and within a 1/2 hour or so we had hot water again. I noticed this morning that the shower had more pressure and was hotter, so I guess draining the tank did better than I anticipated.

Sorry to hear the dryer is on the fritz, Brad.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Funny. Just the other day our water was warm, not hot . I took off the panels and advanced, decreased and advanced the thermostats on both elements and I could hear it start heating. It's been working fine ever since.

Morning guys....It's cold here this morning, not as cold as those north of us, but cold, none the less. It was 0 when we got up. The wind isn't blowing yet, but that is supposed to be coming, as is the second round of snow this afternoon. I'm not complaining, just stating facts.

I have a Knights of Columbus activity this afternoon, so I need to prepare for that.

Howdy! There is nothing quite so invigorating as being awakened by an automated call from the garbage company, indicating that all collection will be delayed a day due to frigid weather. I am certainly glad that they didn't wait until, say, this afternoon to impart this vital information.

Keep warm, Gurus!

I was just informed it is clean the house day here also....yay....

2 degrees F here at the moment and 9 below tonight....should be good for the football game on the Frozen Tundra of Lambeau field today.....who remembers the frozen bowl back in 67 where the Pack played the Cowboys in -13 degree weather.....I do anyway....I was a Packer fan back in my youth....guess I still am somewhat...

Just had a new hot water heater put in last month. The old one was developing some leaks and it had been on contiuas duty for over 10 years so traded it out. New one works great....I'm a big fan of hot water....

I can hear the clean up has started and I'm sensing some unease in the other parts of the house so better go pitch in.....I don't really have to.....I chose to do so....no, really....

Have a great day wherever you are at Guru's...

I imagine our water heater is on borrowed time - it must be at least 15 years old, and has never been drained, etc.

Meanwhile, don't let this happen to you:

Pretty cool place but I think I would still pick the Wrecking Crew in the 60's for the amount of hits they produced.....of couse that is my opinion....and the sound equipment they used must have been antique compared to Sound City's....

All good.

The thing here is that the equipment has been saved and put back into use.
The digital way music is produced today sucks.

Unfortunately, you have to get the Padillia Channel to see the documentary , it's really good.

But, I'll be in the studio later this morning, yea....
Possible couchpotato football afternoon.....beats house cleaning.

All of the clean up around here is related to the half a foot of snow on the ground. Tomorrow the high is -12 with a wind chill of -40. FML.

how the heck do all of you who live where it's 20 below survive ????

does Sand Day include Sand Man Day? I need a nap - woke up at 4:07yeserday and was up till midnight last night. Date went well, dude remembers me from high school We've both been married twice - we aren't saints, he was honest about his. Has 3 kids loves 'em all plus one other that's not even his. Seems to be a pool shark - I'm not. My truck is bigger than his There's a place halfway between us - a real dive with the best burgers around and the absolute coldest beer and worn out pool tables so I voted to go there for a couple beers and a burger n fries. Was a win-win. Was home by 9:30 - supposed to go someplace else next weekend.
Got a late lunch today but for dinner on this about to be frigid evening I've got a stoneware crock in the oven full of three kinds of baked beans, a shot of bourbon and some lil' smokies, cornbread will add to it later and possibly a blackberry/raspberry cobbler. OF course all that crap will end up in the freezer but for now it will be good supper.

I hope all of you Gurus are keeping warm. It is damn cold here. The wind is 30mph gusting to 38mph. The temp is -19º with the wind chill at -48º. The dog and I had a roast chicken and baked potatoes for lunch with Pecan-caramel-chocolate chip cookies for dessert. So we are full, warm and happy.

I've tried four times to take a nap, keep getting interrupted... last one was neighbor's grown son out of booze on a Sunday came over to srummage up some whiskey. Gave him some apple pie home made shine, he'll be out in a while. Another was my cousin in the nursing home, since I got all my heaters on to keep from freezing she thinks I need to put the smoke detectors back on the wall. They were outside underneath the cushion on the front porch swing. I still can't find the third one. The other two have been reinstalled after I went out again to get new batteries. My beans and lil' smokies got done for supper and I'm still too full of the veal and sweet potatoes to eat any...

I ain't made for this crap...
how the heck do all of you who live where it's 20 below survive ????

Got a late lunch today but for dinner on this about to be frigid evening I've got a stoneware crock in the oven full of three kinds of baked beans, a shot of bourbon and some lil' smokies, cornbread will add to it later and possibly a blackberry/raspberry cobbler. OF course all that crap will end up in the freezer but for now it will be good supper.

WE JUST FINISHED OFF THE BLACKEYE PEA SOUP WITH TOSTADOS & CHILI CON QUESO. SOUNDS LIKE SUPERIOR EATS IN ARKANSAS.

Dryer guy came a while ago, and all is good now. It was a bad idler pulley - it sounded like a chorus of tortured chipmunks. He threw a new belt on as long as he was in there, too.

We've been doing our part to stimulate the economy using a tactic known as trickle up. Out of our pockets and up the corporate chains.
