Good morning gang.

Not to bad here this morning temps in the high 20's. Looks like a nice day on tap though. We should reach the 50's with mostly sunny skies.

I got my mower and weed wacker out the other day and was very pleased that they started right up. I'm thinking that as long as the days gradually start to warm up more I should be doing that lawn mowing chore by the end of the month.

Lets get today started.

Word of the Day Thursday, April 17, 2014

analphabetic\ an-al-fuh-BET-ik, an-al- \, adjective;

1. not alphabetic: an analphabetic arrangement of letters.

2. unable to read or write; illiterate: analphabetic peoples.

3. Phonetics. of or constituting a system of phonetic transcription, as the one devised by Otto Jespersen, that for each sound indicates by separate sets of symbols the articulator, the point of articulation, and the size and shape of the mouth opening.

noun:

1. an illiterate person; analphabet.

Origin:

Analphabetic comes from the Greek word analphábēt(os) which meant "not knowing the alphabet." The concept of an alphabet has existed since at least 1500 BCE.

Morning guys...Woke up early and the mind started racing. I figured, "Why fight it", so I got up. Last day of school for the week and we are headed to KC. Started packing the Corvette last night. Sure hope people are wrong about Corvettes, and they don't melt when you take them out in the rain, as it is supposed to be rainy most of the time we are gone.

Tomorrow I'm supposed to go look at a CNC router. My wife knew it wouldn't be long before I started looking for one. I hope this one turns out a good one.

Looks like we are going to get some significant rain here over the next few days. It's already started so time will tell.

I'll check in later, have a great one.

Greetings! Some slipping and sliding out there this morning - we only got rain and ice on our end of town, but up in the northern suburbs they got up to a foot of snow. Delightful! Looks like we'll be back in the 60's this weekend, though, so light appears once more at the end of the tunnel.

Have a good day, Gurus!

Good Morning CGs!

Have to run a few errands today including the hardware store. One of the tank bolts on the toilet upstairs is leaking. Already tightened it once and I replaced it with a rubber washer but wasn't the right type (HD didn't have them???). So I have to run to ACE, they should have the right stuff.

Have a rototiller in the garage that has been sitting at least 5 years. Took the carb off last night and pulled the bowl. It was filled with brown crap and deposits, covered the float, the needle, float pin, etc. Good thing is it looks like I can clean it and get a rebuild kit since a new carb doesn't seem to be available online. We'll see.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Well I hope some of that rain makes it up this way...better check your wiper blades on your car Tom. My wife and #2 daughter are headed for KC also later today for some shopping.....

No planting going on so we are caught up but the farmers are wanting to get going and so are we....stupid cold weather.....

Really not much else going on except death and taxes neither of which are very good subjects to dwell on.....

So onward an upward Guru's....have a great day everyone....

Moved two box truck loads of furniture/stuff yesterday. Only broke 3 things. Had game night last night. Today I'm going to try and fix a few things that need attention. Never a dull day. Had a Ring ..... Ring soon after Sue left the house. I don't know why but I get really irritated when unplanned stuff gets thrown in my direction. I'm not very flexible. I don't like distractions. Basically I like to be left to do what I plan on doing or let me know so I can plan it. That will never happen and I will never adjust.

Oh well, it's inevitable. It's only a matter of time

Yesterday, I spent 6 hours cleaning up the shop (got racecars coming in to work on).

Today I should:

1. Tune up my lawnmower

2. Start my spring house cleaning

3. Act like an adult

Nah

4. Play with Corvettes    3some

SORT OF SUNNY THIS MORNING, 66 PREDICTED HIGH.

OUR BIG DOGWOOD TREE OUT FRONT IS IN FULL BLOOM, BLOSSOMS SO WHITE THEY ALMOST GLOW IN THE DARK.

GOT A PILEATED WOODPECKER HANGING AROUND, THEY CAN REALLY DO SOME DAMAGE TO WOODEN STRUCTURES, MAY HAVE TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT HIM. THEY HAVE A WEIRD CALL, COUNTRY FOLK CALL THEM A "GOOD GOD" 'CAUSE WHEN YOU HEAR THEM OUT IN THE WOODS YOU SAY, "GOOD GOD, WHAT WAS THAT?"

I TELL YA,SCIENCE IS JUST WONDERFUL.

A STUDY HAS BEEN DONE THAT SHOWS THAT AFTER AGE 70 MEN GET GRUMPY. SIMPLY AMAZING, STUFF DOESN'T WORK ANY MORE AND WHAT DOES WORK HURTS; SO WHAT'S TO BE GRUMPY ABOUT?

I MYSELF, BEING ALWAYS ON THE CUTTING EDGE, WAS GRUMPY YEARS AHEAD OF TIME. (THIS FROM AN INFORMED, BUT NOT IMPARTIAL SOURCE)

Put a hasp and lock on one of our sheds where we put sonny boys $#!+. Straightened it up a bit because the workers also do some work in that shed. I'm gluing a speaker box back together that came apart when it fell off a dolly yesterday. Now I've lost my motivation so don't think I'll get too much more done today. Gonna straighten the house a bit, cook some dinner and feed the pets. After that I'm gonna put a dent in my recliner seat cushion. Sounds like a plan ..........

Ya, I read that. Tires were questionable. No foul play suspected. Car in the water undiscovered happens routinely here in Florida. Lots of water, bridges, lakes and canals. They found a guy in his van right in front of the City Hall in Homestead. He had been at the bottom of an 18 foot deep pond for 18 years. The last anybody saw of him was he left a bar, drunk, at around 01:30 AM. Must have passed out or fell asleep and drove into the pond. Mystery solved.

THERE WAS A SIMILAR CASE IN OKC A FEW YEARS BACK. WOMAN, DAUGHTER, AND CADDY THAT HAD VANISHED OFF THE FACE OF THE EARTH MANY YEARS PREVIOUSLY WERE FOUND WHEN A LAKE WENT DOWN. THEY HAD DRIVEN OFF THE ROAD INTO THE WATER AND SUNK OUT OF SIGHT.
