Good morning gang.

We had a cool down over night. Should be clear skies and sunny with temps in the low 70's. Sounds like a wonderful day to be outside.

Word of the Day Tuesday, July 15, 2014

writhen\ rith-uhn \, adjective; 1. Archaic. twisted.

Origin:

Writhen has been in English since before 900. It is related to the Old English verb wrīthan meaning "to twist, wind" which in turn is a cognate with the Old Norse rītha meaning "to knit, twist."

Today is NATIONAL TAPIOCA PUDDING DAY
Annually celebrated across the nation, July 15 is National Tapioca Pudding Day!

Extracted from Manioc, tapioca is a starch. Now cultivated worldwide, Manioc is a woody shrub of the Euphorbiaceae (spurge) family and is native to South America. It is cultivated as an annual crop in tropical and subtropical regions for its edible starchy tuberous root. When dried to a powdery or pearly extract, is called tapioca.

There are several forms that, commercially, tapioca is processed into. These forms are: hot soluble powder, meal, pre-cooked fine/coarse flakes, rectangle sticks and “pearls”. Pearls are the most widely used and most widely available shape having sizes ranging from around 1 mm to 8 mm in diameter.

Although used in other ways, in the United States, tapioca is usually associated with tapioca pudding.

and Gummi Worm Day

Gummi worms are one of the most popular gummi candies, originally created by a German company called ‘Trolli’ in 1981. Celebrate Gummi Worm Day with a packet of your favourite type of gummi worms!

What a wonderful morning. Moderate temperature and sunny blue skies abound. I have a delivery later this morning and work to do in the nursery out back when I return. I'm sure their will be a significant rise in temperature as the day goes on and afternoon rains are the norm this time of year. If it rains I have a backup plan.

Morning guys...slept pretty good. Got all packed up for our trip to KC. Also packed funeral clothes, as it is very likely that before we plan to come home, we'll have MIL's funeral. They keep saying they don't know why she is still alive. Got several things to get done today, so I better get to them.

Greetings! Temps are moderate here too - for the balls on a brass monkey. It was a balmy 56 this morning. But it should get into the low 70's later, or at least that's what the weather geniuses are saying.

Continued mojo, Tom - some tough days ahead, I'm sure.

Have a good day, Gurus!

So, do you prefer 56 or 96. I'm kinda leaning to 56. If I were to live in Paradise I think my ideal range is in the 65* to 75* range. There are actually places on earth where that is possible. I've seen them in "The Places to Retire" stories.

Good Morning CGs!

I did get started on the ceiling last night. I sanded a few spots that I repaired and had to put on one more skim coat in a spot where the ceiling shifted. It won't be perfect but good enough without cutting out a large section and repairing it. I spot primed a few spots, as well.

Like Mike, should be cool here today. Unlike Mike, I don't think I've ever had tapioca pudding

TB - good luck. We often hear stories of a family member hanging on to say last goodbyes. I hope everyone can/has made their peace.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Wow what a great show....place was packed and we all got our moneys worth....after it was all said and done Sir Paul played and sang for 3 hours. The stage and light show was unbelievable as was the amount of semi's and custom busses it takes to haul all these guys around....got home at 12:30 but we had a great time. For an old guy he can still bring it....amazing. It's been 50 years since I watched the Beatles on Ed Sullivan in 64.....

very cool here this morning in the mid 40's.....farmers are nervous....

Here is a few pics of show....

Sleep is highly overrated but I like a few things in excess like the feeling of my pillow gently cradling my head and the pillow top mattress offering comfort to my aching body. I pretty much stick to 7 or 8 hours of recharging with 6 hours my preferred minimum. I know some people that are lucky to get 3 or 4 hours of sleep. Not for me though. I simply cannot function that way. I don't know how they do it.

Prayers for you and your family, Tee. That's very hard.I've also heard the unfinished business theories. God bless.
After yesterday's storm, we're supposed to have temps in the fall this week. Means the pool water will be too cold to get in this weekend but on the other hand if I have to be outside doing stuff it will be nice. Been busy as crap at the office for a change, seems it's either sit like a knot or run my hiney off. And, over the weekend they had a hard drive crash on the printer computer that I put my print ready files on. there's an impending headache..

Gawd, my ass is dragging right now, 9a.m. to 5 p.m to get that much done.

And, tomorrow, I gotta sand all that stuff.

Then I'll shoot primer on the car.....and sand it on Thurs.

Shoot more on Friday.

At least I now know I can still paint cars.

BTW, this is Gary's (65 Mustang) shop.
And he's the vice chairman of fundraising for Hot August Nights.

Ah, that's the beauty of a spray booth Tommy.

If I shot in my shop, the overspray would be everywhere.

Now, all of us have switched from conventional spray guns to HVLP guns. HVLP is High Volume Low Pressure. A conventional gun shoots at 45 psi (lotsa overspray), the HVLP has 45 psi at the air inlet but only 10 psi at the nozzle,. If you paint at home, a HVLP gun like mine can be had for $45 and it shoots beautifully.

Gary's guns cost $500 and they are mind boggling.

Look at the pic, the black squares and where the paint overspray is drawn in. the green squares in the ceiling are where fresh, filtered air comes into the booth. The piping that is connected to both is maybe 2 1/2 to 3 feet in diameter with the same size fan. This is a side draft booth, probably $6k without installation.
You can get a better booth that is down draft (paint is sucked thru grates in the floor) but that's $11k plus huge installation costs.

A comparison would be, shooting in my shop with a conventional gun - you could barely see in 5 minutes.
Shooting in the booth - the air is totally clear all the time.

Figure - doing all the prep with no fiberglass work and having a body shop do it this way - $10k
My cost will be under $2k (mostly for the paint).

BTW, Gary has this little machine that you put the spray gun into when you're done painting.

It cleans the gun for you.

I have to dissemble and use a toothbrush with lacquer thinner in my shop.

It's been a long day for me, I wish you all a good night as I go back on duty tomorrow at 2pm for 5 in a row. And not looking forward to Friday as I'll be working a Megadeath concert.

Till tomorrow night! Sleep tight.
