Good morning gang.

Just not the best start to the day here for me. I dropped my lunch (a bowl of chili) all over the floor this morning. So there was a mess to clean. Now that I'm here at work all is well for now.

Should be a nice day today with plenty of sun and temps in the mid to upper 60's.

Word of the Day Wednesday, September 17, 2014

higgledy-piggledy \ HIG-uhl-dee-PIG-uhl-dee \, adverb;

1.in a jumbled, confused, or disorderly manner; helter-skelter.

adjective:

1. confused; jumbled.

Origin:

Higgledy-piggledy came to English in the late 1500s and is a rhyming compound of uncertain origin.

Today is Constitution Day and Citizenship Day

Constitution Day and Citizenship Day is an American federal observance that commemorates the adoption of the Constitution of the United States and those who have become United States citizens. This day is observed each year on September 17, which is the day the U.S. Constitutional Convention signed the Constitution in 1787.

This holiday dates all the way back to 1911 where schools in Iowa first recognized Constitution Day. The Sons of the American Revolution formed a committee to promote Constitution Day in 1917. Calvin Coolidge, John D. Rockefeller and General John Pershing were part of that committee.

In 1940, “I am an American Day” was created and named as an official day by President Roosevelt. At this time, Congress named the third Sunday in May as the day to celebrate. By 1949, the governors of all 48 states had issued Constitution Day proclamations. On February 29, 1952, Congress changed the name from “I am an American Day” to “Citizenship Day” and moved it’s observation to September 17.

In 2004, it was then changed to Constitution Day and Citizenship Day.

Happy Constitution Day and Citizenship Day!

and NATIONAL APPLE DUMPLING DAY

National Apple Dumpling Day is celebrated every year on September 17th.

These delicious filled pastries are typically made by putting cored and peeled apples on a piece of dough, sprinkling them with cinnamon and sugar, then folding the dough over the apples to form a dumpling. The dumplings are then oven baked until tender.

Apple dumplings are believed to be native to northeastern United States, around Pennsylvania. Being very common among the Amish, with their delicious recipe, it is often eaten as a breakfast item however, they are also regularly eaten as a dessert and sometimes served with ice cream.

Celebrate by enjoying the following “tried and true” Mountain Dew Apple Dumpling recipe:
http://www.justapinch.com/recipes/des ... ew-apple-dumplings-3.html

or Apple Dumpling Cake:

http://allrecipes.com/recipe/apple-dumpling-cake/

Perhaps you can enjoy eating your apple dumplings while watching the 1975 Walt Disney Movie, “The Apple Dumpling Gang”.

The pond progresses. Tomorrow a load of rebar comes in and it has to be set Thursday and Friday. Saturday the first 10 yards of concrete comes at 09:00 followed by whatever we need to finish. Should be between 15 and 20 yards total. The next several days should be busy. Today I'm doing routine stuff. Sue loves pressure. I think she thrives on it. Me, I don't care for pressure but deadlines have a way of making things happen. Have a productive day, gurus. Don't run through it higgledy-piggledy.

Hidey-ho! And welcome to another episode of 'As The Vikings Turn'. Unreal. On a brighter note, it's gonna be 70-ish today, and the sun is rumored to be making an appearance later, so I dragged the Vette out of the garage.

Have a good day, Gurus!

It was with a modicum of trepidation that I left my beloved Grand Sport out at the local Chevy shop this morning so they can begin to fix the fuel gauge sensor problem.....The head wrench out there is doing the work which I requested since I have known him for years....but still its like turning over a Stradivarious to a 500 lb gorilla......the only reason I am doing it is that GM came through and is doing the work at no cost to me other than a $100 dollar deductable. I have no warranty left and did not have when I started the pursuit of getting them to cover the cost because it started just as the 3 year warranty ended...

Grand Sport Mojo would be appreciated....with a 6M car they should not have to tear the rear end of the car off....I told them not to in any event.....

Nice day here.....WTF is going on with the Vikings.....unbelievable......my wife used a wooden spoon by the way when she spanked the kids.....I did not spank but used my doomsday voice and could bring the kids to tears with it so felt that was enough....

Have a wonderful day Guru's.....

Morning guys....Not a good start here either. I've been on a rampage. Monday I sent some kids out to put some trash in my dumpster just outside the shop, they come back in saying that there wasn't a dumpster outside, "Sure there is" I said. I go out to find no dumpster. So I call the city office (trash collection is by the city here). "I'll have the driver call you", they said. Well, he stops and talks to the other teacher and he tells them, "You need to talk to Tom". He never calls. but he tells the other teacher "We needed one with wheels someplace else, so we came and got that one." I spent $100 freaking dollars on those wheels, what gave them the right to come and take the damn thing? So I call the city office this morning and start chewing on city clerk, She tells me they check into it and get back to me. (nothing yet). Then, while in our stupid ass weekly meeting, I am telling of this and another teacher tells me "That's just like them cleaning my room this summer and they threw away all my cans I acquired for the students to put their supplies in." (art teacher) Then another teacher says that "...the administration went around to each classroom telling the custodians what to throw away." Well this set me off, because I am missing all sorts of things that I was keeping to use as teaching aids. So now I'm steaming and left the meeting to go see our Supt. (she's the one who is so concerned about 'appearances'. Unfortunately, she is gone to a meeting, so I'm afraid that I unloaded on her secretary. (Yes I called back a few minutes later to apologize).

I was so pissed that I could spit nails. I'm ready to walk out right now.

OK, I am beginning to calm down, but all this came about at one time and, obviously, didn't sit well with me.

Good Morning CGs!

Took RR#1 up to school and dropped her off. I have some work in the backyard today including closing the pool. I started it last night and it was looking pretty bad. I haven't even run the pump in a month. Green like a turtle shell. But the 9 bottles of shock that I dumped in last night seem to have cleared that right up. I need to drain a foot and a half of water and then throw the cover on. Takes about a day to do the whole thing because of waiting for it to drain. Other than that a little more clean up of various items, etc.

TB - I'd be pretty mad about the garbage dump thing, too. Try not to let your blood boil too much

Tommy - any pics of the pond progress?

Marcus - glad GM helped you out with that issue and hope it's resolved soon!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matthew

Matt, I'll post progress pics after the rebar goes in.
tee, stupid stuff envelopes us every day. Some days it's just more than we're willing to deal with. Keep your blood pressure in check and calmly tell the offending parties that there are morons with higher intellect than them. Guess you'll have to resort to virtual tools and youtube vids to teach the kids. Pile up your trash where the dumpster used to be. That might get a little attention.

Hold it long enough and Tommy will have something to fill up the pond with. My grass is good for another week, so you can play with your tumbleweed

Pool is closed, btw. What a pain in the butt.

Somebody sent me a storm... now it's foggy... and I stink and am sore. Went to the gym for the first time in 3 weeks... long story - life hasn't been nice and sleeping 4 hours a night isn't helping. But I felt better today although depression was high. Yes, he scolded me lol... I did all my half burpees, mountain climbers, jumping jacks, two rounds of boxing, sprawls, then a several-station circuit for another half hour of junk I hated. Did 85% or so of that stuff included jump chins, machine rows, box jumps, calf raises, incline twist sit ups with a weighted bar, stationary bike, a thing on a bal where your butt is in the air and you roll it with your legs, hurts the hams, pushing a thing on the ground with 90 pounds on it, something I see football players do, and a couple other things I forgot. We did all that crap three times each. oh and plank up and downs, side crunches, regular crunches too and leg over crunches and single leg v ups...
when Matt cuts his grass he can come cut mine too - I am too tired. And with all our rain, I now have a pond in my backyard and it's too cold now to vacuum my pool and put a cover on it.

Tommy should get one of those for his pond, he could teach it to retrieve bean bags on those other exciting nights.

Those birds live here year round. Bean bags only come out when there are kids are around. There may be fish put in the pond at some point and the birds are experts at stealing them.
