Good morning gang.

Chilly here this morning. Should be a nice day though with temps in the low 70's.

Let us kick this day off.

Word of the Day Thursday, September 25, 2014

iwis \ ih-WIS \, adverb;

1. Obsolete. certainly.

Origin:

Iwis has been around in English since before 900. It finds its roots in the Old English adjective gewiss meaning "certain."

8 Words That Are Older Than You Think.

Today is NATIONAL ONE-HIT WONDER DAY

National One-Hit Wonder Day is celebrated annually on September 25. This day recognizes all of the musical artists/songs that became known from one Top 40 single.

Listed below are just a few of the well-known one-hit wonders from days gone by.
◦1955 – “Earth Angel (Will You Be Mine)” by The Penguins
◦1963 – “Six Days on the Road” by Dave Dudley
◦1968 – “Tip Toe Thru The Tulips With Me” by Tiny Tim
◦1969 – “Smile a LIttle Smile for Me” by The Flying Machine
◦1970 – “One Tin Soldier” by Original Caste
◦1970 – “The House of the Rising Sun” by Frijid Pink
◦1972 – “Hot Rod Lincoln” by Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen
◦1083 – “Puttin on the Ritz” by Taco
◦1988 – “Don’t Worry Be Happy” by Bobby McFerrin

NATIONAL ONE-HIT WONDER DAY HISTORY

Our research was unable to find the creator or the origin of National One-Hit Wonder Day, an “unofficial” national holiday.

and NATIONAL COMIC BOOK DAY

Every year on September 25, comic book readers, collectors, lovers and fans celebrate National Comic Book Day.

Also called a comic magazine, a comic book is a publication, first popularized in the United States, of comic art in the form of sequential juxtaposed panels that represent individual scenes. The panels are often accompanied by a descriptive prose and written narrative, usually dialog contained in word balloons emblematic of the comics art form.

In 1933, a comic book, Famous Funnies, appeared in the United States and is believed to be the first real comic book. It was a reprinting of earlier newspaper comic strips which had established many of the story telling devices used in comics.

The term “comic book” got its name as the first book sold as a book reprinted of humor comic strips.

Despite their name, comic books are not all humorous in tone and actually feature stories in all genres.

Comics as a print medium have actually existed in America since the printing ofThe Adventures of Obadiah Oldbuck in 1842 in hardcover, making it the first known American prototype comic book.

In 1896, a proto-comic-book magazine was published in the United States featuring The Yellow Kid in a sequence titled “McFadden’s Row of Flats”. The 196 page book, which was a black and white publication, measured 5 x 7 inches and sold for 50 cents.

People who collect comic books are known as pannapictagraphists.

NATIONAL COMIC BOOK DAY HISTORY

Within our research, we were unable to find the creator of National Comic Book Day History, an “unofficial” national holiday.

Abušen!

The sun is finally starting to make an appearance, wasn't too sure it was going to. The week is flying by, like most of them seem to do lately.

Have a good one, Gurus!

Good Morning CGs!

Chilly here now, supposed to warm up later. I hope so because I need to cut the grass. I should also get in a nice workout and hopefully tinker with the car.

The search for a toolbox continues. Like Mike said yesterday, finding a good USA box is close to impossible for a reasonable price. But I will keep looking. Only took me two years to find the current one....lol.

Have to get rr#1 off to school.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Good luck on the tool box Matt....when we go to auctions sometimes and there are tools or toolboxes to sell, they always wait to auction those till the last to keep folks there. I'm always thinking maybe I will bid on one and steal it......yeah right....its like a shark feeding frenzy when the bidding starts and they always bring stupid money.....I know track down one of those nice Snap-On trucks they have great tool boxes.....

Sunny out today and I will continue working in the shop...mostly throwing out stuff that I don't need....I will be brutal about it.....no more keeping stuff around that I don't ever use.....

Have a nice easy going day Guru's.....I thought the Animals did House of the Rising Sun in 68........

I have a Craftsman roller from the mid 90's that actually got moved around a lot, pulled out of the race trailer at every race, bounced around, loaded to the max.

Cost $99.00

Still works.

But it don't have ball bearing drawer slides, I so ashamed.

I'll challenge U for the most decals.
