Good morning gang.

The count down begins to the new yr. 29 more days.

It's cool here this morning temps in the upper 20's and should be in the 30's today.

Word of the Day Tuesday, December 02, 2014

solander \ suh-LAN-der \, noun;

1. a case for maps, plates, etc., made to resemble a book and having the front cover and fore edge hinged.

Origin:

Solander entered English in the late 1700s and is named after the Swedish naturalist Charles Solander, who invented this type of hidden case.

Today is NATIONAL MUTT DAY

Each year on December 2nd and July 31st, National Mutt Day is celebrated across the United States. This day was created as a day to embrace, save and celebrate mixed breed dogs.

Desperately longing for a new home, there are millions of loving and healthy mixed breed dogs, in shelters across the United States, awaiting for someone to come and adopt them.

For more information regarding National Mutt Day, see: http://www.nationalmuttday.com/

NATIONAL MUTT DAY HISTORY

National Mutt Day, an “unofficial” national holiday was created in 2005 by Celebrity Pet Expert and Animal Welfare Advocate, Colleen Paige. This day is celebrated on both December 2 and July 31 of each year.

NATIONAL FRITTERS DAY

A variety of fillings can be found inside a batter or breading, which is deep fried or pan fried, eaten and enjoyed by millions of people each day. December 2nd of each year is designated as National Fritters Day.

Fritters, which can be found in many cuisines, are believed to have first been consumed by Ancient Romans who then introduced them to Europe.

Common fillings inside a fritter are meat, seafood, fruit, cheese or vegetables. In the United States, “Corn Fritters” and “Apple Fritters” as well as the “Zucchini Fritter” are well known favorites of the fritter family.

Enjoy National Fritters Day by trying one of the following “tried and true” fritter recipes:

NATIONAL FRITTERS DAY HISTORY

Within our research, we were unable to find the creator and origin of National Fritters Day, an “unofficial” national holiday.

NATIONAL SPECIAL EDUCATION DAY

National Special Education Day is observed annually on December 2nd.

Special Education Day marks the anniversary of our nation’s first federal special education law which was signed by President Gerald Ford on December 2, 1975. This law is the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)

IDEA made education available to all American children and this day honors the progress that has been made in special education.

For more information regarding Special Education Day, see: http://www.specialeducationday.com/

NATIONAL SPECIAL EDUCATION DAY HISTORY

National Special Education Day, an “unofficial” national holiday, was first celebrated in 2005 which was the 30th anniversary of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.

Busy week tonight GS #3 has his Christmas music concert, Meeting tomorrow night, GS#2 b-ball Thursday, GS#1 b-ball away Friday and home Saturday (I work that game), Sunday our mens group makes Beirrocks as a fund raiser. Like I said, busy week.

Been feelin a little under the weather the past two days. I hardly see anybody and still manage to get messed up. Maybe it's the allergies again. Hard to tell the difference. The halls decked. Time to shift into the next projects. Today I think I'll just make the list.
